I am a Chinese food whore and my family and i wanted to try Panda Express. We spent over $50 on food thinking it was going to be really good because I had the fried rice from here once and I loved it. Honestly, that was the only thing I actually enjoyed. The boxes were too small, everything was overpriced, the spicy foods were too sweet, the egg rolls are flakey and taste like a deep fried paper towel, the chow mein was ungodly dry, customer service sucked, they didn't fill any of the boxes all of the way, the sauces were too sweet and tasted too much like liquid jelly, and the employees forgot to put some of the food we had ordered into the bag. This place is defenatly getting better. There is new management, new cooks, and new servers. All faster and more friendly than before.

I have given them three tries just because of the convenient location. The first time I had to wait forever for teriyaki chicken they said they would bring it out when it was ready I watched them give my chicken away twice before I went up and stood there after 20 minutes. The second time I went through the drive through. I was told to pull around they would bring my food out, they never came and I had to go in plus they forgot an item in my order and I had to go back. Very good food but bad customer service. I told the server that I just wanted orange chicken and she gave me a small amount of orange chicken with a lot of chow menu. Before I start my review I have to say that I ate at a Panda Express in Las Vegas 2 months ago and it was very good. I liked it enough to go back a second time during my stay. As for the Mentor restaurant, it was very disappointing. I decided to try this place on Friday, 9/2/16 about 6;30 on the opening week. The line was out the door and we had to wait about 25 minutes to get to the counter. ( Not a problem and understandable when a new place opens in Mentor) But that was the only thing I didn't mind. I ordered the two entree plate of Shanghai Beef, Tso Chicken, and fried rice and spring rolls. I have to say it all looked good and that was the only good thing that I say about the food. My wife ordered the same beef, orange chicken and vegetables. After paying we immediately sat down to eat. I tried a fork full of fried rice...no flavor and cold. Next I ate a piece of beef, tasty but almost cold. Next I tried the spring roll, COLD again. So I grab my plastic knife and try to cut a piece of the Tso chicken which was a little warm, not hot by any means and couldn't cut the piece in half. It was like a rock and so over-fried that it was impossible to eat. I didn't want to complain about the food to my wife so I asked her how hers was. She said everything was cold and got that funny look on her face like not good. So she ate about half her food and I ate less than that and threw the rest in the trash. I'm not trying to bash this place but I would expect when you open your doors for business that your food is hot and fresh because you don't get a second shot at a first impression. This is the first time I have ever rated something so low. I went thru the drive thru. Cashier could not provide me with a receipt to do survey, she put no fork in bag and no fortune cookie. I even asked if there was a fork and she said "yes" and since I was not taking it home I needed it for the rice. Also, check your receipt, the last time I was there she asked if I wanted to donate to charity, I said "no" and she still added it to my card. read more

I liked the place. Their food was not tasteless or not too salty like some other panda expresses. I had the steak and orange chicken with fried rice. I usually don't finish all my food and I was pretty hungry, but it was fairly good and had no leftovers. I must admit though, they do have a lot of customers. The line gets pretty long, but the service does not quicken, especially during peak hours when everyone wants to eat. The workers serving the food aren't rude. They just look like they all needed a break or something. If you come to get the chicken teriyaki and they're out of it, you will have to wait a LONG time. This guy was there waiting for it and we noticed him while ordering and even after we finished eating, he was still waiting for like 30+ minutes. I, personally, didn't have a bad experience with the food or the wait, but it was very noticeable from what I saw with other people there. read more

I stopped at Panda Express in Mentor this week for the first time. The decor was very nice, restaurant was very clean and employees very friendly. However, once I got my food....I was dissapointed. Fried rice was just okay, and the sweet and sour chicken was not very good. It was almost a little chewy, similar to when I have bought chinese food from the frozen foods section at the grocery store. I also ordered 3 rangoon...but they were greasy and burnt on the edges. Is there a lower score possible? I used to love Panda Express in the Tucson and Phoenix area. We tried to go there weekly. It was great. Moved back to Ohio and no Panda Express. Finally, one opens near home, but I'm delayed in getting out to try it for awhile. It should have been a clue rolling up on the place at 4pm and the only people there were employees while the Chipotle next door was very busy. Still, we thought we'd give it a shot. Okay, I can deal with the menu being a bit different. It's been awhile and in different parts of the nation, but still. My favorite--which also happened to be one of the fastest moving entrees out there--was the teriyaki chicken. Had trouble finding it, because out there, it was chopped like other chicken and soaked in sauce. Here, it was a bunch of dried out looking patties. I thought I'd give it a try. When I asked for sauce for the chicken and rice, though, they gave me one of those little cups rather than pouring it over like they did in AZ. The wife and kids all found something they wanted. We skipped the egg rolls and rangoons, because they were charred. I mean black, folks. That is definitely not how they're supposed to look. We sat down to eat and almost immediately, we all looked at one another. This stuff was horrible. There is no nicer way to put it. I really am surprised I didn't march up and demand my money back. The fried rice (white wasn't available, by the way) was dry and flavorless. The teriyaki chicken they sliced up in front of me was dry, like it'd been sitting out since open, and only very slight flavor compared to what I'm used to from Panda Express. I know Sweet & Sour chicken often has more breading than chicken, but the breading isn't supposed to be crunchy. The sauce itself didn't even penetrate the breading. Kung Pao and General Tso chicken were more fat than meat. General Tso had virtually no flavor. In fact, the lack of flavor was a running theme for this place. The sauce for both of these had congealed and was gel-like. All in all, it was bad--like, really bad. On the way home, the kids said this should be used as a new punishment for when they don't behave--being forced to eat here. Brought a massive amount of left overs to the dog who sniffed, licked, and walked away. That says a lot right there. I do feel bad about the people who showed up after us, as if my vehicle in the parking lot may have given the illusion that the place was open for business rather than working hard to go out of business. Seeing here in the system that there are indeed more locations in Ohio, I wonder if it's an Ohio thing, if Panda Express overall has gone that far downhill, or if such bad food is isolated to this one location. You know how, after Chinese food you're usually hungry in a few hours. I think it goes to say something that we all ate only a small bit of what was there and now, more than 7 hours later, it feels like there is a brick in each of our stomachs. So, on the upside, at least we're not hungry again. read more

For the price, pretty good. Rice is good along with the entree choices. $6.70 for dinner plus drink is a good price. Is it the best, no but well worth the price and visit. The line is a bit slow but is expected for the style of restaurant it is. Go give it a try, worth the trip. Remember it's not Hunan on Coventry. read more

Tried Panda Express for the first time last week. Ordered (online) fried rice, vegetables, broccoli beef and pork. It was about noon so I tried the drive thru to pick up my order. No one there. So I went inside to see a fairly long line. So I went to the cashier to pick up my order. After some discussion about the fried rice not being available (it was) my order was packaged. It looked awfully small in the carry out containers. Did not receive my pork entree so I had to go back. The broccoli was uncooked but the entrees, although very small in quantity were very good. There was an abundance of the fried rice. After reading all the reviews, I will not recommend this Panda Express. read more

Tried this place twice and disappointed both times. Chow mein was rubbery. Got the string bean and chicken. It was merely chicken and beans in brown gravy. The gravy started to coagulate. Disgusting. We were pretty excited to see Panda Express had opened up. We checked out the menu before we went to make certain my husband could eat the food. So off we go!! The food was horrible!!! The fried rice was so very bland, the orange chicken tasted like chicken mcnuggets dipped in sauce, the General Tso's chicken was slimy!! We had the egg roll ( do not get them) They had a weird smell and when tasted,,,they tasted like they smelled! The best part of our meal was the fortune cookies!! We will not be back!! read more

The stars are coincidentally for the chicken. On 12/20/16 my 8 month pregnant wife, 16 month daughter and I went on a drive to get my daughter a power nap. The nap didn't work and I was hungry so we stopped at Panda Express. I ordered the biggest plate which is 4 small portions and my wife ordered the regular 3 portion plate and we both got teriyaki chicken. The chicken was being cooked so the girl told us she would bring it out. I went to the register and another girl punched the order in and gave me a total of 19.50 or so (this is where it's my responsibility to do math and ensure she rang everything up. After 7-8 minutes and people who ordered after us walking by with teriyaki chicken my wife went up to the counter. The conversation between her and the two girls lasted longer than I expected between a customer who wants chicken they paid for and two employees so I went up. What had apparently happened was the girl I ordered from acknowledged I ordered the large plate but she said the other girl didn't charge me for it (it's a 1.50) so she couldn't give it to me.... OK I said, just give me 2 chickens instead of 3 and refund me.... Girl tilts her head, rotates the microphone out from her face and says... "What for?" We'll probably because after ten minutes my wife, daughter and I don't have any chicken. This is when she tells me she'll need a manager. I was honestly excited because obviously the manager would understand the concept of customer service as well as the idea that her employees ringing my order up wrong and acknowledging they did, should not result in an argument over 1.50 in chicken. At this point it was purely an argument for me based on principal. Anyways the manager comes up and asks what happened. I told her there was a miscommunication between her two employees on what was ordered and rang in, my family had no chicken and I wanted our 3 orders..... I kid you not, the manager looks at me and says "I can't give you 3 because you only paid for 2." Convinced she didn't hear what happened, I explained that her employee acknowledged she rang me up wrong, it's not my responsibility to do math at a register and I asked if she was really willing to lose a customer over a dollar fifty and a bad review online. She was more than willing so here I am. If someone wants to reach out to me from this restaurant I'll gladly post a follow up based on my interaction with them but as of now I can see why they currently have two stars. So excited to see Panda Express open up...but very disappointed by the lack of vegetarian offerings. Not one entree on the menu is plant friendly. Rice and mixed veggies is an option, as is the veggie spring roll (which they were out of at 1pm today). However, this is a bit underwhelming. read more

Posted hours say they open at 10:30am. I walked in at 10:45 and was told my food would take a half hour to make meanwhile the employees are standing outside smoking. A one star rating is more than I would give it. Not a good first impression. read more

I've been to Panda Express in Mentor twice. Both times they did not have teriyaki chicken. They were out and it was gonna be a 12 to 13 minute wait. The manager was rude and did not offer any discount. The food was average at best I would not go their. Save your money go somewhere else. read more

The food was what you expect at a Chinese carryout place. Got a coupon for doing a survey on the back of the receipt that I misread, which is totally fine. I called to make sure they take phone orders (which I was told they did because online ordering is not available in this location) and was corrected on what the coupon actually was, totally fine, told them I would call them back after looking at their menu online again. When I called back I was informed that they do not actually take phone orders because they did not want to upset customers who were waiting in line seeing others get served before them. How long has phone ahead been a thing at restaurants?!?! I had time to go through the drive through in which I waited 15 minutes to put in my order with only 3 cars between me and the payment window. When I got to the order speaker, I was told to wait while I heard the order taker screaming at his coworkers for 5 minutes. I ended up receiving the wrong order when I picked it up. First and only try to this new place in Mentor. I utilized the drive thru a bit after 11:00a.m. Ordered General Tso's w/ vegetables. Server said the vegetables wouldn't be ready for another 10 minutes so ordered double chow mien. Then selected my second entrée as teriyaki chicken and was told again that food item was not ready either. (I thought this was drive thru and express??). I asked for iced tea (unsweetened) w/lemon and two sweeteners. I was told ''we don't have lemons here''. The large iced tea had no requested sugar substitute and no ice. Then, my food box was handed to me upside down so the sauce was in the bag versus in the box and on the food. The food tasted mediocre at best. Noodles were overcooked and the Gen Tso was cold and markedly flavorless. I had a double entrée and side which was amazingly small. I often order from Hop Hing down the street and a regular portion of food is twice the size of the supposed "double" at Panda Express. So very disappointed and decided it was not worth the waiting for this eatery. Several other people I work with made similar comments of disappointing experiences. read more
