Came here for dinner. Nice clean place and the waitress was very nice and attentive. The restaurant was quiet, but had good background music playing so that was nice. The food came out in good portions, but was heavily lacking in flavor. We tried the fresh lemonade and boy was it tart and I love lemons, so just be prepared if you get the lemonade. If you have a family like mine where you get fresh sopapillas when you walk through the door, this place will not compare to what you might think is normal, but will fill the void. Service was great. We didn't have a problem getting drinks. I opted for the Sangria, it was decent. Chips and salsa were good. Salsa is mild, but fresh. For dinner we had the 3 tacos (ground beef, chicken, and beef) and a Burrito Poblano. Everything was good. The meat was cooked well and was flavorful. The burrito wasn't as spicy as we normally like, but it was good. Between the service, the quality of the food, and the fried ice cream, I will be back! read more

This is the worst Mexican food I've had since living in Germany. My standards and expectations shouldn't be high but it was no bueno... the chili con queso was melted cheddar cheese and had a layer of grease on it, which solidified about 3 minutes after being brought to our table. The salsa tasted like tomato sauce with some coriander in it... ewww! The frozen mango margarita was good, because there is alcohol in it but the food was very disappointing. The enchiladas Acapulco had the melted cheddar on it which ended up disgusting and the burrito de chorizo was decent. The one start is for the burrito because it was alright except the sour cream looked like it was squeezed out of a cake mixer that was sitting in the fridge for 2 months. We will not be back to this place, it made me want to sharf (shit and barf)! read more

We come here once every few years and are never impressed. The food is okay and the service a little less so. They don't give you warm fuzzies. The waiters/ waitresses are always matter of fact and all business, not bad, just not good. It takes a little too long to get drinks and food and things are forgotten. Decided to try Pancho Villa because it has been a while since we have had good Mexican food. We ordered a margarita pitcher and it was a good thing since it took up an hour and a half to get our food. I wasn't even hungry anymore once my dinner arrived. The location is in a great place but the food was bland and not even Mexican food, maybe more like Mexican inspired or infused. Anyhow, we spent a lot of money and left overall disappointed. This place wouldn't stand a chance in the San Francisco Bay Area, but for Germany, there's not much competition or availability of authentic ingredients, expertise or tolerance/taste for the "real" thing, so I give it three stars. No apparent use of hot peppers, cumin or cilantro. The cheese (in Germany) is not the same as the US, and corn tortillas don't taste the same. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Germany. I'll only eat Mexican at this restaurant when I go to Germany. Every other restaurant I've tried doesn't not stack up with this restaurant. Love the carne asada and margaritas. This place can get packed pretty fast and the parking lot doesn't look like much but the food is amazing. Mediocre food, decent friendly service My German landlord and his family actually mentioned this place. After a foul experience at Cantina, we were ready to make another effort at Mexican food. We ate here for Christmas eve, there was no wait, and we were greeted in English and seated immediately. The menu is both in German on the left page and English on the right. My wife and I shared a variety mixed plate (El General) and were content with the amount of food. Although I can't say it's authentic or close to Mexican, it is definitely better than Cantina. That's the third time I'll say it. Only small gripe is that there is a smoke pit at the entrance, so a lot of people smoking when you enter and exit the restaurant. read more

taking into account the restaurant's location, i'm going to give it a 3. that would never stand in San Antonio, Texas, or, even in Mexico. but that's not where it is, so it's gonna get some gimme points just for trying...and for getting some things almost right. i had a chimichanga, because i was feeling like i wanted a gut bomb, and it didn't disappoint. the queso sauce on top was....different..... but overall, it was tasty enough for my texan taste buds (again, context: i haven't had 'authentic' food in several months, so maybe i'm wishful-eating). the salsa tasted fresh. the regular stuff is too tomato-y and sweet, but you can order a "hot" off the menu, which is cautioned "at your own risk", but if you're from the south, you'll find it just about right. we were pleasantly surprised by how their magic ingredient fixed up the salsa. we weren't hungry enough to try the green salsa, too. now....the disappointment: the enchilada sauce has.....curry.... in it......? maybe someone accidentally dumped in curry instead of, say, comino? i'm not sure, but it just tastes....weird. although, being a lover of curry, i'll have to say that it wasn't a complete deal breaker. in fact, i think i can see why people might like it. the biggest disappointment surrounding the enchiladas was that the cheese on top wasn't melted. they have a decent margarita. it doesn't taste overly strong, but it also doesn't taste like crappy limeade and tequila from a plastic bottle, which is a win. they also have Dos Equis AMBER, something i thought it'd be a lifetime before i'd see again. our waitress was the most friendly, adorable girl. where the food fumbled, the waitress recovered. even though it's not completely 'authentic', i'll have to say i can see going back if i find myself in a similar craving fit. i bet i'd go back a few times. wonder if i'd adapt to the differences.....? read more

Huge restaurant. Sat outside to enjoy the weather. I ordered the "Zapata". It had a hard shell tortilla, and filled with this tasty marinated beef, and don't forget to ask for salsa if you haven't already order it with chips. Tastes amazing on the tacos too. Came with an enchilada, not spicy- hot enough for me, but delicious. Our server was nice, but it was a Sunday and it did get busy fast. Had a Strawberry margarita, that was perfectly made. Oh, I have experienced sooo much better. The servings are huge and the prices are low. It is good for large groups who want a lot of alcohol so they can't taste the food. I will go back only for a farewell or hello in a large group. It even has a place for kids to play. Really, all of those good things, don't make up for the food. read more

If you are working on ramstein airbase this restaurant is just 5 minutes from your workplace. The mexican food is great - the restaurant is part of a group of mexican restaurants to which the Cantina Mexicana in Vogelweh belongs, too. The dollar to euro exchange rate is always a great deal for americans. Big portions and kid friendly environment make it a good experience. My recommendation is the plate for two, it is a good overview of the restaurants card. You can come here also later than 3, as many german restaurants close after lunch break time.
