Service was fast, even for a weekend night. The salsa served with chips could have used more flavor, or salt, or lime- or something. The hint of curry in their namesake dish (the Hacienda) was suprising; and I like curry, but not in Mexican food. The food was OK, and servings were good sized. I was bummed when my taco shell was served busted, but I overcame it, and made a taco salad out of it. The entire portion was generous and food was modestly priced. The Flavor-Meter was on mild. There are some reviewers saying it's not like Tex Mex, or that Americans snub their nose at the food, because it's not what they are used to. To that I say- Good food is just Good food. Maybe the cooks were busy and orders were rushed? I will try it a second time, to see if it was an "off night." Came to grab some lunch. The place was empty, but decided to try it anyway. There was a flag at the table that we were supposed to put up when we were ready to order but no one ever told us so we waited for a bit. Not sure what kind of Mexican restaurant this was but definitely nothing to rave about. The mozzarella sticks came out with sweet chili sauce instead of marinara sauce. The enchiladas came out with a brown gravy type sauce that had no flavor. The rice was undercooked and looked like it just had some tomato sauce mixed into it. Update: Germans rate this restaurant 4-5 stars, Americans only 2-3. It's not typical American style Tex-Mex food. Neither myself or my partner were impressed with food presentation or with flavors. Margaritas were weak, small, and the bartender couldn't figure out how to get salt on the rim of the glass. Our nachos were dry with the cheese and meat only on the top chips. I ordered the La Hacienda meal (assortment of house specialties) but the exact same ground beef and cheese were in all of the foods so it was one homogeneous blend of the exact same flavor. Weird (curry-smelling gravy) sauce and cheese totally obscured what I was actually eating. My partner's chicken fajitas were pretty good, but again presentation of the condiments was poor. It was almost as if they kitchen staff were really rushing and had only a few ingredients to work with. Service was prompt with little flags to notify the wait staff when you needed help. However, the to-go container was unceremoniously dropped on our table to box ourselves. We won't be returning. read more

I had the "La Hacienda" plate (one Taco of your choice, one ground beef enchilada, one cheese enchilada, one small burrito, one small chile relleno, Mexican rice and refried beans). The plate was huge and packed with so much food (which was expected) but most of the food was covered with sauce. The sauce looked like gravy and smelled a bit like curry. There was so much of that gravy (on top and underneath the food) that it made a lot of the food on the plate taste like it and made it super soggy. I ended up eating the burrito and the taco but leaving the rest. I know it was a waste of food and I normally do eat everything on my plate but in this case I just couldn't eat it. It didn't taste like Mexican food at all. :( There were some good things about this place though. "Raising the flag" to order was a pretty cool idea and the chips and salsa were enjoyable. If I ever do end up eating at Hacienda again...I would probably order a burger and some French fries. Most people seemed to be enjoying those there. read more

In my continued search for Mexican food in Germany, I decided upon Hacienda before returning to the Chili's on Ramstein again for just chips, salsa, and a margarita. I was very pleasantly surprised with our findings. The place was as authentic as my pinky finger (I'm German/Scots-Irish), but expectations change the longer you are an outlander. The place was easy enough to find. Even though we ate there on German Labour Day, the place was packed. The ordering is Pancho's style (shout-out), where you raise the flag when you need something. Service was pretty prompt. Chips and Salsa: Never included, but I know this. Out of a bag. Salsa was not spicy. However, did the trick. Beer: They have a 6-beer bucket, which will save you some change. We ordered the bucket, but the first 2 beers (on the menu) were not available. We asked for limes with our beers, and got lemons. Oh well. I am also used to this. Margaritas: I can't rate this based on personal experience, but my friend did order a frozen marg and it was blue. He said it tasted worse than it looked, which is really saying something. Avoid, unless you are pulling a prank on someone. Food: I ordered the chicken fajitas. I thought the price was a little steep for the area, until the food was delivered. I received almost a pound of meat, which was well-seasoned and served with delicious peppers and onions. I asked for corn tortillas and actually got them the first try. That barely ever happens! My friends ordered tacos, but were also surprised at the perfectly average caliber of their food. Overall, I have no real complaints. I'll probably return for a fix, and use this to grade the others in the area. This isn't Texas, so I'll give the Hacienda 4-stars for relative edibility in a desolate Tex-Mex environment. read more

If I could give a less star I would. My husband and both were stomach sick starting the ride home after the meal. The service is slow, the food was worse than school lunch and it took forever . It's pretty difficult to mess up fajitas, so when he couldn't even eat his meal I knew it was bad. He said the meat tasted like sterno. You know, the stuff you might use to cook with if you were camping! I'm not even sure what could cause this unless the chicken was pre grilled and kept warm for hours in a chafing dish with sterno cans keeping it warm. Maybe that is what happens when the kitchen is slammed trying to keep up with the non-Mexican all you can eat chicken wing circus. I ordered a combination plate with a cheese enchilada and taco. This shouldn't be a hard dish to make. The best thing I can say about my meal is that the shredded beef in the taco was okay. The enchilada was, somehow, not really an enchilada. Just sampled the chicken quasadillas ....a lil bit on the greasy side but very delicious. I also tried a strawberry daiquiri....no sweet at all. All in all it was okay. Not too crazy. So, I'm Californian, but have lived in Europe for a long time, and this is definitely the best Mexican I've had in Europe! Fish tacos were very fishy and not worth my time. My friends fajitas were greasy and not so flavorful. The guacamole was ok for Germany. Coming from Texas I know what good Mexican should taste like. This place is below average as far as Tex-Mex style goes. I know it's in Germany, but the flavors are just "off". If there is anything I would tell someone to try (Tex-Mex), it would be the tacos. And even those are not anything special. The reason I give this place 3 stars is not even for the Tex-Mex fare. Believe it or not, it's for thier buffalo wings...which are really not bad (the homemade dressing in particular is pretty good).
