Looking forward to pancakes for breakfast and they were open at 6 AM. The interior of the restaurant was spartan but clean. Prices were affordable. We ordered the Big Breakfast (eggs, sausage, biscuit and two pancake) and blueberry pancakes. The scrambled eggs were fine, the sausage and biscuit tasted like they were reheated. For a restaurant named the "Pancake House" the pancakes were disappointing. They were small and thin - barely thicker than crepes. The syrups were watered down. The blueberry sauce for the blueberry pancakes was just thawed frozen blueberries. Nothing was bad but nothing was great. If you're craving great pancakes in Liberal, continue your search.

Not a huge fan of pancakes but I have to admit, the pancakes here are tasty. If you go on the weekends, there's generally a line; but the wait isn't too long.

If you don't stop here you are missing out. First of we both ate breakfast for less than $20!! The wait staff was amazing my coffee was never even half empty (and she gave me a cup to go). Casual breakfast spot with a few chattering still quiet and peaceful. Oh and tie pancakes are awesome.

Within moments of arriving I knew we had made the right decision. The second we were seated the server had hot coffee ready to pour and drink orders working. I had the strawberry pancakes. They made me feel like a kid again. SO tasty and fluffy. My family had eggs and biscuits and gravy, they all raved about their meals. If you are passing through Liberal, KS stop here. I know we will be back.

Stopped here on our road trip to Chicago. My daughter says there's a Pancake House on Pancake Blvd, let's go! Since we were going through there, we thought why not! Driving all night we needed to stretch out and have breakfast anyway... So, of course! On to the pancakes! So glad we found this gem of a place! The service was excellent! The hostess and waitress were very nice and friendly! Oh, and talk about pancakes, they had every kind you could think of! In addition to pancakes, they also had waffles, crepes, and your normal breakfast items. I got the bacon & eggs with a side of pecan pancakes. My daughter had banana pancakes with a side of sausage and home fries. And our friend had chicken fried steak with home fries and a side of blueberry pancakes. It didn't take long for us to get our food. Everything was delicious! We were back on the road in less than an hour. If we are ever back this way, I'll definitely come back!

I challenged the owner to build me a cooks choice meal. Excellent coffee (a must), multi ingredient pancakes trio. This is a pancake restaurant by the way. Very flavorful warm house syrup to top the toasted pecans. The chef built me a fresh vegetable and meat omelette paired with an excellent American fries side. I have made this challenge many places. Cafe Psquel in Santa Fe, NM is the only other place that has come close to the Pancake House in Liberal, KS.

Cattleman's Cafe II - Country fried Steak!

I stopped at the lot behind Casey's to kinda wash up for the morning. Parked the rig, and saw a…read morefull lot packed outside this little small town Cafe. It was then I remembered glancing at a huge Beef Processing Plant just on the edge of town...think it was called National Beef... And then it hit me: Cattleman's Cafe + Beef Processing Plant...maybe...just maybe..they served steak here That's how I found myself sitting inside this Midwestern country diner. The description on the menu-- Uncle Ed's Steak sounded legitimate. So I had me a rib eye, with a side of corn and Brocolli. Then to start off, some Bloomin Onions. Rating: Ok, I'm going to be real honest, the quality of the beef is *Good* Its on the level of USDA Choice Select, but it IS fresh. Like I can enjoy the natural flavors of the Beef, it's not drenched in marinade and just the overall taste spelled decent quality. Now, because back in the days, I would go out to Costco and pick up USDA Prime Ribeyes three or 4 cuts at under 45.00 (those were the good times). But it wouldn't be fair to compare this to that so for a standard family run affair, this place serves pretty solid steak. Though however the chef kinda went on the rarer side for my Medium Rare and if the cuts have so much fat marbling in them, it probably would be better for the steak to be grilled longer on the fat tissues. The corn sides were a little to sweet and wished they either cut down on the sugar, or use some heavy whipping cream or half and half to balance that sweetness out-- like real creme corn. The Bloomin Onions were a surprise. Over the past decades, I'd probably only order this appetizer at say Outback Steakhouse, but this dish does take the prize for a worthy starter here at the Cattleman's. Overall, server was very locked in. True country hospitality, think her name is Naziah. Kudos! Great service! And anyone ever driving through town, give this place a go.

The service was really good. The waitress was super friendly, very helpful. I got the country fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy and fried okra. Man, what a meal. ! I really enjoyed it. The catch fried steak was huge. I ate part and took the rest to eat for breakfast the next morning. Everything came out hot and tasty I was very happy with my meal here I would come back.
