I had gone to Caitlin a number of years ago and then I lost track of her. I had changed my hair a few times and had been super short and realized I didn't like it and had been growing out for a few years when I found Caitlin again. I had been very frustrated with my last hairdresser because I would go home and have to try to fix it myself. Anyway, it was such a pleasure go to Panache and get an excellent cut, Caitlin knows hair. I am so happy with the cut that she gave me, and my husband came with me and sat and had a glass of wine while she was cutting my hair. My husband had just had his hair cut earlier in the day and when I looked at it, I told him it looked like a bad cut. The last time he had a haircut I had to fix it. Caitlin kindly said she was happy to take a look my husband's hair and she recut his hair and it looks wonderful now. I couldn't believe the holidays in his hair. He really had gotten a wham bam haircut! Caitlin will be our new hairdresser for both of us and we're very happy to have found her again. The location on Pier 39 is also very sweet because it's very quiet and nice out there. You don't have to fight the downtown homeless people to get to your appointment. I wish zero stars were an option. I went there a while ago to have my hair colored. I wanted it light blonde. I was in her chair for 3 hours and left with yellow hair. She had no idea what she was doing. I did text her afterwards that I was unhappy with what she did to my hair. She offered to fix it but there was no way I was going to let her touch my hair again. I went to her well over a year ago. I should have posted a review sooner but I had surgery shortly after so it slipped my mind. I only thought of it today because I was at Pier 39 today and it reminded me about the whole thing and I was surprised to see she's still there. read more

I needed a hair FIX! I had the worst haircut I've ever had about two months ago. It was a mess. No style, it was just hacked. I needed something done because I couldn't do anything with it. I called Panache and Caitlyn was able to get me in the same day. I had explained my problem on the phone and she said she could fix it. I brought a photo with me to give her an idea of what I was hoping for. She took her time and explained what had happened to my hair. I am so incredibly happy with my cut. Her salon is so tastefully decorated, and she has coffee and tea available, as well as my favorite, red vines! We met with her today for a quick manicure for me and nails for my wife. She did a great job on my nail trim and my wifes nails look great. Her charges are very fair and her personality is wonderful. My wife plans to have her work on her hair next and I plan to stop in every few weeks to get my nails trimmed. Her shop is right on the main drag and is very clean and comfortable. My daughter and I were in Astoria visiting my aunt, and my daughter complained to her that she'd overbleached her hair and wanted to go back to her natural, dirty blonde color. My aunt said she always goes to Panache because Caitlin does such great work, so we gave it a shot. She totally fixed my daughter's hair (chunks of which went SPLAT as they were cut off) without cutting off any more than she had to. My daughter was convinced she'd have to lose tons of length but Caitlin kept enough and cut strategically enough that my daughter didn't even feel like she'd lost any! Meanwhile I got free wine and (Peets!) coffee and red vines. I was so impressed that I had her give me a trim while she was at it and she did subtle things that made a world of difference.
