In the end i was gutted.
I was recommended here by the place I bought my wedding dress.
The task was indeed short notice, but certainly not impossible. They agreed to take on the task of taking in and taking up my wedding dress, about 2 weeks before the day, this was because I was halfway through a pregnancy.
The fitting went fine, and the (I presume owner) quoted me a price, and said "it will probably be less, but no more than that price" It was more than I and the recommender expected, but hey, it was my big day... She said to pick it up on the day before (eek)
4 days prior to the big day I decided to call them on the off chance that perhaps the dress was ready.
The woman answered in a fluster. Busy? Yes, busy PAINTING the store. She advises me the dress is being worked on and is nearly finished, but it will be ready for the day before the big day. fine....
The day of pick up arrives and she tells me to pick up in the afternoon about 4pm. I head off to a scan appointment, dealing with my 1 year old in the process, albeit a very stressful day already. We were on route to the store at 4pm when, I get a voicemail.
Apparantley, there's been an emergency, and a bride is needing a refitting or something, therefore can I pick up the dress at closing time at 6pm?
erm......I'm no bridezilla but my wedding was in less than 24 hours and this bride is an emergency?
Understandably upset and frustrated that I have reworked my day several times round this womans promises, I call her and say that's fine, I guess I have no choice?
6pm arrives. As do I. Completely knackered I quickly try the dress on. it's as expected. My 1 year old is frustrated and hungry because we've ran around this woman and her emergency flipping bride.
I go to the counter to pay, and the girl at the counter charges me £50 more than the quoted maximum total I was given.
I complain to both the girl and the owner, who give me the lines of
"it's a quoted price"
And
"you have to understand you did give us short notice"
what?!?!? After all the messing around and now that?
It has NOTHING to do with me regarding their customer turnover and how quickly they can shift and sew dresses. All that a customer should be concerned about is their dress as promised. Pan Pan took the job on without a cheeky word said until I went to pay.
I paid and left in tears and angry, not the stress I need in a high risk pregnancy and my wedding the next day - so thanks for that.
Do not touch this place with a bargepole, unless you like false promises. The dress itself came out fine but the customer service was appalling and worrying - that's something you do not need when planning your wedding. read more
