Don't go here if you value your sanity.
I took my wedding dress in to be adjusted. In fact I took in two versions of the dress, one slightly too big and one too small, and asked their advice. The smaller one almost fit, but was too tight across the chest. There wasn't much fabric at the seams to let it out, but they said they'd adjust the zip to give more room.
Which they did - and it looked great, till I turned round and realised the neckline at the back was now weirdly loose. No problem, I thought - I'll go back and see what they can do.
Well... my god. The seamstress came out and started shouting at me. 'I did what you want - and now you're complaining!'
Well, actually, no, you did what you recommended, and it didn't work too well and now I'm trying to find a way to fix it.
But no, she just went on and on about what did I expect, what did I want, "I can put it back how it was? Is that what you want? Is it?" She was just unbelievably rude...
Eventually she pinned it to lift the shoulders, ranting all the time, while I bit my tongue as best I could - I needed the dress fixed! Then the nicer ladies behind the counter told me to come back on Saturday. Which I did. Only to have crazy lady come dashing across.
"Monday! I said Monday!" And waving a slip of paper. She had taken her carbon copy of my receipt and written 'Monday' on it ... I didn't even really mind waiting but the insanity of it all just about had me in tears. I ended up shouting, saying that I could not talk to her, I would only talk to the others .. but she just wouldn't go away.
I could not go back there. Ever. I had to get my sister to go and pick up the dress on the Monday because I was just going to break down weeping if that lady started attacking me again. Thankfully, the seamstress was out when my sister went and she managed to deal with someone reasonable and fair - I'd have felt bad sending her to deal with someone so difficult.
The dress now fits fine, thank goodness, and I'm trying to get back to liking it and to forget about the drama. Still - it needs to be washed before I can wear it, due to grubby finger prints all over the shoulders when I got it home!
So, seriously, just don't go there.... read more
