Unfortunately for us when we went the wind was so incredibly wicked it was like an getting assaulted by the beach the second we walked onto open sand and it whisked my sons bucket down the shoreline which was tricky to get back lol so we didn't last long lol if the weather was better I imagine we could spend a day there. Bring a lunch and when you're ready go shower clean up eat and let the kids play at the park!

It has some facilities and there are picnic tables, but this is also the kind of island that has a lot of mosquitos so I would be heading towards the beach. This area has some inland water that is apparently permanent enough that they've put pontoon bridges over it, which is kind of cool. The beach here is a little bit wider than on other nearby areas, so the tide is not forcing you to literally sit on a dune and you can walk around the surf fishers. So it is a decent ocean beach, if still on the crowded side.

New enough that it's not on the 2019 view in Google Earth and it's not on the Glynn County list of…read moreparks. But it is a park and it's definitely here as I visited it. This is the Glynn County Veterans Memorial Park and they have done a fabulous job of building it out and putting together memorials. It starts with an archway entrance with the "All gave some - some gave all" then crossing a small bridge to another grass space and beyond that, a raised brick courtyard with five plaques and six flagpoles, one for each of the five military branches of service and the center for the US flag. The park is clean and well kept. There are a handful of benches throughout and a number of tables with chairs for picnics. It is a nice use of what previously an empty lot. I took a sunset walk, a gamble, and it was well worth it. The trail is scattered with native species of plants being reintroduced to the area, so if you're looking to scratch the horticulture itch you'll do that here. If you want to find a place where the only sounds you'll hear are angry squirrels fighting over nuts...you'll certainly find that here. I wonder if there's some kind of secret squirrel fight club out there...sounded like it for a bit. I digress... It's a beautiful trail, soft soil and crunchy leaves. The course was well laid out and maintained . The course is right by both the lighthouse and the ocean, so there is a great view. It was a challenging course in a good way; other courses we've played are far more obvious as far as the slope. This one was somewhat deceptive and made it more fun to play. It was a great afternoon and we highly recommend it.

Someone raised him right. It's unusual to see young people with great social and customer service skills. He was so patient with my elderly parents when their cards didn't want to run. We found a true gem with this one they have two different courses one for beginners and the other for more advanced players. Both courses are well maintained, the scenery is gorgeous (who doesn't love Jekyll?) and the person behind the counter was extremely helpful and friendly. After grabbing our clubs and color coded balls (pink, purple & teal of course!) We chose the beginner course. The best part on this 90+ degree day you ask? The beginner course was pretty shaded with covers making the heat way more bearable. Each spot had an adorable feature either beside or to golf through some were quite the challenge! We had lots of laughs and tons of fun trying to get a hole in one which by the way only one of us was able to make (all I'll say was that it wasn't me or Bob who made it!) 10 out of 10 it's a must stop on any Jekyll Island trip!

This is one of many parking lot parks around the perimeter of Jekyll. It's not much on its own, but…read moreit's ideal for, and I believe intended for, day trip cyclists or hikers because its main purpose appears to be to feed you onto the bike trail which will take you around the whole island. If you want to see the sunset from your parked car, this is a great option. (The other 2 options are parking by the dock near Jekyll Resort, or at Clam Creek Picnic/Fishing Area.) If you have a view of Sidney Lanier Bridge, you have a view of the sunset. Riverview would not be my first choice for a day trip parking area because if I weren't staying on island, I'd want to be near the gas station/convenience store to have gas/bathroom/snack options after a long bike ride. But if you want to picnic or be close to the historic district, Riverview is a good option. Like everywhere on Jekyll, it's super safe, and super picturesque!
