Near the sandbar the water gets deep fast so if you have littles or inexperienced swimmers walk further down to set up. We went during low tide and we were able to pretty much walk all the way out to the middle of the ocean with the water at our knees in most parts. The wind was a little gusty the day we went so bring something to hold down the beach towels so they don't fly away while you're frolicking in the water! Lol! It was less crowded than the area we went the day before too! Such a fun place to enjoy the ocean and soak in the sunshine!!

Honestly I've seen better beaches on the shores of a freshwater lake, but it is a beach so how bad can it be right? Well I absolutely love the ocean but a prerequisite of loving a beach for me is a short list, but these things that are important to me. If I stand in the ocean where the water barely reaches my ankle bone I want to be able to count my toes. As much as I love oysters, I'm not a fan of a beach that looks like an oyster bed on steroids. If the sand on the beach is the color of dirt because the dirt / sand ratio can be measured I don't want my toes in the water or my ass in the sand. Oh I don't mean to be so harsh, this is a beach I highly recommend for those of you visiting Florida, it's a great beach and I hope you enjoy your time here wink wink...

The employees and camp hosts are friendly and helpful. There is lots of trails and wildlife to enjoy. Anytime we have had issues, they are promptly addressed and rectified. The only slight drawback is the paper mill stench. It can be quite awful at times. Oh! And the noseeum's. Bring bug spray! We regularly visit Savannah, Jacksonville, St Simons, Jekyll Island, Amelia Island and Okefenokee National Park while staying here. Brunswick has all the necessities you would need and is a nice town. Husband always visits the Pinball Palace! Highly recommend staying a while and really exploring the beauty of this area.

Transients like me and longer term stays are available in the campground. There's just something about being waterside that I find helpful for my mood and my productivity, I was here for about two hours for phone calls and emails, sitting in the van and listening to the quiet lapping of the shore. There are activities here including picnic shelters, a playground, a fishing pier and a boat launch with crane. I was able to watch them pull a boat in with the crane and load it onto a trailer. The walk to the beach is easy to moderate while walking thru soft sand, until the beach, where ancient trees lay on their sides, and roots make for a gorgeous view. The day we were here, the beach was littered with the bodies of cannon ball jellyfish, which are surprisingly solid, so watch your feet. Enjoy the temperate water of the Atlantic ocean and the bright South Ga Sun for a perfect afternoon.

The beach gets its name from the incredible collection of weathered trees and driftwood scattered along the shoreline, creating the most dreamy, almost storybook-like scenery. Jekyll Island has such a fascinating history, and this area is a beautiful reminder of how nature and time continue to shape the island. What was once a thriving forest has gradually transformed into this unique coastal landscape due to erosion and changing shorelines. Walking along the beach surrounded by these beautiful, sculptural trees felt so peaceful and surreal. Add in the friendly locals, Southern charm, and laid-back island atmosphere, and I completely understood why Jekyll Island has such a special charm. I came for business, but Jekyll Island quickly became one of those unexpected places I'll remember long after the trip is over. Driftwood Beach was definitely one of my favorite stops, and I'm already looking forward to coming back.

The beach has a large parking lot that even includes EV charging stations as well as a building with restrooms, bike racks, and picnic shelters with grills. The park is well built up and ready to host lots of people. Paved parking, handicapped ramps, trash cans and even showers to get the sand off your kids before you load them back up into the car. It is located on the east side of the island and as it says in the name, it has a view of the ocean. There are no barrier islands beyond here - it's direct exposure to the Atlantic and it's beautiful. Expect strong winds and be aware of riptides. It had been stormy the night before and the lot and walkways were covered with downed tree branches and leaves. Bottom line: Come for the history and the trail.

During our walks southward to Glory Beach on the three days while on Jekyll Island, we noticed at least 60-70 turtles nests as well as conservation volunteers, patrolling, tracking, documenting and monitoring the nests. This angered me because it's a hazard to the animals and the people who come here and there is NO DNR, ranger or police information anywhere to report this behavior. I even confronted the idiots and told them how stupid they were. Total low life losers. Keep your kids clear away from the water because they come straight to any person they see.

Corsair is basically the first beach you can get to when entering the island. Just off the bridge, you're fed into the roundabout. To your right is The Westin, to your left is Beach Village, and the Jekyll Island Convention Center. Straight ahead is Corsair Beach Park! But parking is to the left, behind Beach Village. This is a very obvious park, one where most day trippers and Westin guests like to hang. The beach is huge, a long, flat sandy surface, which provides ample room for setting up camp to just lie in sun or play beach games. If that's what you're after, this is the best option. If you want to hike the beach, I advise Driftwood Beach at the northern tip, or Glory Beach at the southern point of the island. Both are amazing walks around the top/bottom of the island, and the sights and wildlife are breathtaking. Corsair allows leashed dogs, and bikes, but dogs and bikes are not allowed on the JI eastern shore any farther south than Corsair, due to sea turtle nesting. This beach park has beach showers, and food/shopping is very close by in the Beach Village shops.
