He only recommended what was needed, and did not try to up sell. I wanted to get the HVAC system replaced before moving into the new place, but had a ceremonial event a few days prior. Tim made sure to plan the installation date such that there would not be any interruptions or half done work or clutter during the ceremony. Then, on the day of installation (which was one day before my move in date) there were severe storms, and the entire neighborhood lost power. Tim and his boys worked in the dark using flashlights, the entire day, to ensure that the job got done! He then came back when we had power to make sure everything was working just right. Last summer, I was told I needed to replace my HVAC system before this summer because it uses R-22. Naturally, that was stressful and felt like a huge unexpected expense. When Will came out, he carefully inspected the system and then walked me through the facts. He explained that as long as the unit is working properly, there's no need to replace it just because it uses R-22. He also clarified that refrigerant doesn't need to be added unless there's a leak (contrary to what I had previously been told about it needing regular refills). At no point did he try to upsell me or pressure me into replacing something that still works. Instead, he focused on what was actually necessary and in my best interest. That level of integrity is rare and incredibly appreciated. It's clear he genuinely cares about his customers and values doing the right thing over making a quick sale. The owner called me back within fifteen minutes and began to trouble shoot everything over the phone. I was very impressed with his knowledge and how he was able to guide me around my furnace over the phone by describing exactly what I was looking at. He guided me to the problem and was able to get one of my units up and going with something he would find easy, but something I would not have known to do! Came home one night to an A/C unit making a hum noise. As I went to investigate, I narrowed the…read moreproblem down to the fan. I looked up some nearby A/C servicers in the area and read good things about Steve Roberts. I made the call and left a message around 10:30AM. I got a call back some time later and Steve Roberts arrived around 1:30 PM. I greeted him at the door and took him to the problem. After looking around he pulled the truck around and got some tools and proceeded to dismantle the conditioner. When the panel was removed he checked the fan to make sure that was the problem. Sure enough, it was. He made a call to his associates that were on the way back from Lexington. He asked if they had a part and sure enough that had one. ETA 15 minutes. Mr. Roberts pulled the breaker and removed the fan. We talked a bit while we waited for his crew to arrive with the part. He is very knowledgeable and from my point of view, really knows his stuff. We talked about cost, repair and checkups for the rest of my equipment. I bought the subjects up, not Mr. Roberts. It's usually the other way around. The crew had arrived and removed the part out of the box. The shaft had to be shortened a little and a capacitor had to be installed as well. Once installed and put back together, the fused was replaced. They then said to turn it on to test it. Everything was working. I was very happy. they tested the freon and said it was at acceptable levels and I did not need any charging. I got the bill, wrote the check and shook his hands. They were done by 3 PM. They were very nice and answered any questions that I had. I would recommend them.
