Lived in Palmdale for 3 years now. I personally felt racially profiled, the only time I go to this library is to simply to print the files I need for projects, a white homeless man (Big 50 year old man) came up to me who I seen while working security at one of my jobs and made snaky weird comments and got close to my face. Me and him got into a loud verbal altercation, he was in my personal space and he began to yell when I told him to back up. We yelled at each other until Library Staff came and told us to leave. However, this blonde female staff worker said something to homeless individualbut focused her attention on me. The homeless individual walked away while they proceed to tell me to leave. Another Hispanic/White female with her Disabled Daughter (probably Autistic) said I was rude because I told her to move and tried to side with the homeless dude (Lady was glued to her phone and not paying attention to her "Disabled" daughter" ) As I was printing my copy and The Director Robert Shupe came along with 5 staff surrounding me as I was printing my paper I calmly tried to explain to Robert the backstory and he cut me off to say "I don't care about the backstory" after getting the print I needed. I complied and proceed to exit the structure. Robert wanted to talk to me out side which I agreed to and I understand their policy and keeping peace, but I felt like the blonde female staff worker was bias because how did she let the homeless individual just walk away to hide. My mom came and talked to. He reassured there was no profiling but I doubt it by the female's demeanor towards me. Robert appreciated me explaining the backstory (privately not publicly) and situation is in progress partially resolved. I do want to report the female staff worker due to her selective enforcement and potential bias of the situation. This is why recording and camera are appropriate evidence to protect yourself. I have nothing against homeless people but having 1 female security guard and not a male especially not armed, Seems pretty risky. I am about advancement but city needs to stop being cheap with the safety of others. read more

This is a very nice library with plenty of free parking on the lot. There's security in the front. There's plenty of seats and outlets to charge your devices. They also have flyers about upcoming events. read more

I completely regret visiting this library. I have never been more disgusted in my life. There were a lot of homeless people outside of the library, as well as inside. The smell as I entered the library and walked around, was very unpleasant. When I went to use the restroom. There was a homeless lady in there naked from her waist down and the smell was horrible. I let one of the workers at the front desk, know and decided to leave because of how horrific the whole experience was. There were many men outside of the library as well who looked erratic and threatening definitely never going back here again. This sadly is a place that you should not bring your kids and should definitely avoid. read more

I must commend the City of Palmdale for a job well done in hiring the most amazing people to work/serve at their public library. I have been there a few times completely stressed due to my situation. Everyone there has been so very helpful and friendly. I couldn't have gotten anything done because I can be computer illiterate. I never felt as if I were bothering anyone. Thank you Palmdale for making my stay very welcoming and warm experience. I do not have any names, so collectively you all are awesome. The security as well, always kind. I will miss the friendliness of the Palmdale community. They can use a new scanner to make everyone's lives easier! read more

There's a lot of like homeless people in there! I would say majority. More than regular visitors. I was kinda scared. I didn't see any security guard. There where 2 nonservice dogs with no leash. One was a pitbull!! Its ghetto in there . I know they need somewhere to be but, dang. I just didn't feel safe.See my pictures read more

They offer great kids programs and events here for the family. This library also has a great selection of cookbooks and recipe books. It also has a really good kids section with books for all ages. I come here often with my grandchildren and they love it although some of the homeless people are dangerous. They shouldn't be in there carrying on especially around children. Palmdale needs to do more for them. read more

It's a nice quiet library and one of our favorite places to visit once a week. We attended a children's reading yesterday morning 10-10:30am at the park near the library... decent turnout n the story readers were animated n great!! There were also Spanish n ASL lessons incorporated in the songs n readings. It was a half hour event, kids were engaged, the staff n volunteers passed out water, snacks, gift bags, toys as well as information on reading programs n future events... we truly appreciate these awesome folks. Ricardo is AMAZING! I went in to print some very important documents. I'm applying for a new job and I was struggling to edit, format and get these documents printed. Ricardo is my super hero! Although this library is small, the staff go above and beyond to help the patrons. I love taking my daughter to all the fun and free activities they offer. We have been to their weekly movie showings and various art classes. Whenever I am having issues with my printer I come to use their computer/printer and they also have a copy machine. Just recently I had dropped off a book in the drop slot and forgot that I had a gift card inside the book. I explained the situation to the staff, and right away they opened the drop box and helped me look through the various books until I found it. Amazing Customer Service! This review is for the children's story time. It's fantastic and an absolute must if you have young kids!! The one I attend with my almost 4-yr-old is at 10am on Wednesdays. The librarian that runs the program is amazing with the kids. She knows how to engage the kids so they pay attention and have fun. Each week she'll pick books to read based on a theme - dinosaurs, bugs, etc. - and weave in fun songs and interactive dances throughout the 30-minute "sit-down" session. The remaining 30 minutes is reserved for play time where the room is divided into 4 or 5 areas with different educational games, crafts, puzzles. The kids roam freely between the different activities and parents get to chat with one another. Story time is held in the building right next to the library's entrance. There's a small sign on the door, so look out for that. I can't say enough positives about this community service and how well done it is. The facility is super clean, toys are all in great condition, everything they do promotes education/learning/creativity, the librarian that reads to the kids is wonderful, kids are well-behaved, and I've met really nice moms here. I love taking my son here and will be sad when he starts kindergarten and no longer able to attend story time. PS - If you've been to the story time at B&N, there's no comparison. I stopped going to that one the day I discovered the Palmdale Library story time. read more

A very dated library, both inside and out. Feels like you've entered a serious time warp...content is seriously out of date and current books are rare...so if you're just looking to read and not get up to date current reading materials, then it is fine. it has a nice wi-fi now though so that's good. But I noticed that there are some "interesting" folks at this library (kinda scary)...be careful. I've been to other libraries in other areas which far exceed what this one does. It's a shame we pay local tax dollars, but there aren't services or community offerings...where do our tax dollars go??? read more

This is a quiet little library with kind and helpful staff. Not the biggest selection but, I'm glad Palmdale at least has a library. You can check out max 30 items for two weeks and two optional extensions. Kids section seems nice and they all seem so happy to be reading. This place is great for my noggin! read more

The reason for giving 1 star was because I have a 1 year old .I had to take my sister-in-law to do some tests and get them printed out and my baby just started talking so had two people a security guard and another lady that work there come up to me and told me you have to keep your baby quiet apparently it's not Baby Friendly at all and not to mention its 102 outside. This is a small library which others have mentioned. It is well run and well stocked for it's size. It is beautiful and in a really pretty location. The staff is polite and patrons heavily use this little community gem. The have a huge children's section (they used to have a whole separate library for kids but it has closed). They also have a nice newspaper reading room and separate computer section in the center. I do notice they have recently started offering a lot more community classes and they are now open 7 days a week. They are very quick when you reserve something online. read more

I love libraries. This one is a little small but the atmosphere is pleasant and the staff polite and courteous. Unfortunately the selection is a bit lacking- oftentimes there books from the middle of a series or trilogy but not the entire series. read more

Perfect place to study which is why I come here their wifi is reliable and somewhat fast they have plenty I seating, but the place is a tad but small I've been to to their libraries in my time and this definitely doesn't compare but makes up for it by the service good friendly staff from what I've experienced their never rude and always open to questions one might have. Can't forget about their hours too pretty much open all day so either before or after school you can definitely hit this place up if you want some quite time to focus. read more
