I am a Pennsylvania resident and I had changed supplier to Palmco Energy starting March 2014 since they had a promotional offer of 37.6 cents per therm for three months and then it would be variable after that. However, after the expiration of the promotional offer, they doubled the price to 74.86 cents per therm for the month of June 2014. The price was then raised five folds the promotional price to 1.5998 dollars per therm beginning July 2014 till November 2014. I had signed up for paperless billing and autopay option and never looked for the bill even though they were higher. When a door to door marketing person for one other utility company knocked on my door, I looked into me bill and found out that I was being ripped off. There were other utilities whose gas prices were always lower than that of Palmco even when it is compared to fixed rates. Beware and don't ever switch to Palmco !! read more

Former PALMco client...They are an ABSOLUTE RIP OFF! Same ploy as stated by fellow reviewers..you save a few pennies then they slam you fives times the average rate. if you complain they will pay you back about 25% of what they STOLE from you. We switched back to PSE&G but you must wait several months for it to take effect. We also reported them to NJ consumer affairs...I'm happily filling out my complaint against them now. They deserve a BELOW ZERO rating. They sell you the Therm (at the beginning) for 40 cents. Few months later you end up paying $2.00 and more for the Therm. In other words you are paying more than 5 times the original price. So your bill will be 5 times as high especially during the cold seasons. Drop them ASAP. read more

DO NOT SWITCH YOUR GAS OR ELECTRIC PROVIDER TO PALMCO!!! After receiving a few sales calls from them and considering other utility companies, I decided to switch both my gas and electric to them from PSE&G about 6 months ago. There is no contract, and they claim to be "competitive." OK, so I figured I'd see how it goes. You still receive your bill from PSE&G, which includes the PALMco portion; they handle the supply portion & PSE&G takes care of the delivery, but it's all done on one bill. When you receive your bill, PSE&G lets you know what the cost would've been if you were being supplied by them. Well, the first month (or possibly 2), sure, my bill was a little lower with PALMco; however, that was extremely short-lived. For the next few months, it seemed that one utility was higher with PALMco & one was lower. Then the last 2 or so months, both were higher. Well, on the last bill I received, the gas portion was over 30% higher with PALMco & the electric was roughly 10% higher. COMPETITIVE? Me thinks not! It's not even close! Well, this percentage amount to about $13, so not the end of the world, but WHY WOULD I PAY YOU MORE THAN PSE&G??? I called them ranting and raving, and they sent me a check for $4.11. Great. Needless to say, I switched my gas back to PSE&G & my electric to another provider for whom my brother now works. They have a fixed rate that is lower than PSE&G's has ever been, so we'll see. I wish you could give no stars, and I wish my parents, who live in Ohio, could have read these reviews before they switched over to Palmco. They initially told my mother that the unit price was $.40 cents in November, and by April the rate had jumped to $1.94 per unit. My parents didn't even STAY in their house during the month of January, and my mother put the heating at 50 degrees to prevent the pipes from freezing and the bill came out to more than $400! Palmco is practicing deceptive and unethical sales techniques. They are short on telling you that the very low offer they are giving you is an introductory offer and will only be good for 2 billing cycles. They talk a fast game comparing your current rate to what they are offering (at the introductory rate) which sounds very attractive. They gloss over the fact that this rate is variable. I signed up at .079 eight months ago. My rate is now 0.1998, almost triple the original rate. Be wary of Palmco. read more

I previously reviewed Palmco and thought they were terrible. I then was contacted by them where they tried to talk to me about my issue and then asked me if I could "say something on yelp" to counteract my previous statement. I gave it some time to think and got my final bill from them and decided..THEY STILL SUCK. First, the people who call for customer service are generally very very nice and attentive. One of them tried to explain to me that it was my fault my bills were high because I didn't read the contract where it says there is no guarantee of a lower bill. The part she missed is how misleading their sales people are. And that's why their nice customer service reps do nothing for me. They are trying to sugar coat a terrible situation. They gave me a whole 16$ discount on my last bill that was basically double of what I would have normally paid this time of year. And until they fix how their sales reps present their business, all the fixing or calls after that are just BS. And that brings me to my second point. Either they are ignorant of what their sales reps say to people or that are willingly complacent in their deception of consumers. Palmco is a business built on subterfuge. IF THEY TOLD PPL WHAT THEY WERE ACTUALLY SELLING, NO ONE WOULD BUY IT. ..What they are actually saying is : YOU CAN BUY A LOTTERY TICKET EACH MONTH TO DETERMINE YOUR ELECTRIC BILL. Everything about this company, Palmco Energy, seems shady. I'm a potential Massachusetts customer who called Palmco while shopping around for better electricity rates. I spoke to a sales rep named Lameek. Although he offered an unbelievably low intro rate, he couldn't offer any advice as to what the rate may look like after the 2 month into rate expired. He claimed it would be impossible to speculate since they have over 10,000 customers who each have different rates based on more variables then he could list. He further informed me rates would only be known on meter read dates. I asked, for example, what if my meter read date was today; what would an estimate rate be? He reverted right back to the 10k+ customer conundrum. He added they had been in business over 70 years, and proposed the question, "how could that be if we didn't satisfy our customers?" I shared with him my feelings on the [lack of] information he was offering. I, very pleasantly, told him I'd get back to him with my decision, but would need to check out their yelp reviews first since the sales pitch left me feeling uneasy. He abruptly hung up on me. Now, I'm not a customer so have no actual experience with their business, but based on the overly gimmicky, lackluster sales pitch, horrid reviews on more review sites than I knew existed, and professional skillset which included hanging up on a lead, I'm going to guess they're chock full of shady business practices, and will rake you through the coals after the intro period expires. read more

They are a scam be very careful! I was told electricity generation cost will be way lesser than my current default supplier. With so much of reluctance I was signed up by them by all fake promises. Now my electricity is atleast 20$ more than usual. When called them they said I agreed on paying 10 cents more per electricity unit than regular cost! Thanks for the review. I was approached by PALMCO today and I saw their "teaser" rate. After reading the "fine print" I see it is actually a variable rate which means in the summer, the rate will go through the roof, based on the reviews. Summer 2012 I got call from Palmco rep offering competitive rates to my current electricity provider. I switched but be aware- IT IS A SCAM!!!! They do it for a few months at the beginning and when they hope you stop watching, they raise fees and explain that it is due to a variable rate. But rate is same way variable for PSE&G and according to my bill from Dec 2012 I would be paying $108 compare with Palmco charges of$ 118 which was only $10 more but still not competitive. So on Dec 20th 2012 I called Palmco expressing my dissatisfaction- with no effort on their part to do anything like adjusting my charges - I expected to have rates at least matched with PSEG. Their position was simply -NO. So I requested immediate cancellation. I was told it cannot be done right away as I insisted. But when they took over my account it was possible to do it in one day!!!!!! Next bill was $48.00 more then it would be for the same amount of electricity with PSEG. Following was already $98.00 more then PSEG would charge me. So March 12th 2013 I called and asked why I have not been switched back to PSEG as requested in Dec. They have very rude cust service reps who read script without being responsive to what you are saying. I requested to talk to manager, was put on long hold and after that representative told me all managers are busy and they call me back. I was willing to wait on line. They said -NO, I asked about time frame when I can expect a call - there was no time frame!!!!! Today, March 12th is my meter reading day so I can expect even higher charges since they either are trying "to make up " for what they have "lost "offering me lower rates at the beginning and more, or they "punishing me for not being happy with them and requesting a cancelation. And all this happens in USA not a third world country somewhere and it happens in day light to American citizens - consumers and there is no help. Is it?? That is how Palmco makes money although in their letter they state -"We treat you like a family" and they bring up argument that their customers stay with them for 30 years. Yea when they do not watch what is going on with their utility charges!!!! How is it possible in the greatest country in the world!!!??? Have only been with Palmco for five months and I'm changing. The first two months were at .0782 per KWH (the guaranteed two month rate), then it went to .1045 per KWH for two months (a 33.6% increase) and now I just received the latest bill at .1781 per KWH ( a 227% increase over the original rate). Except for the first two months rates have been higher than buying it through my utility at .0921/KWH. Learned my lesson with Palmco. They sounded nice on the phone! read more

I would give them 0 stars if I could. Without warning, this company tripled my rates to $1.29 ccf. The going rate is less than half this amount. The representative from the company said there was a spike in the gas market (there wasn't). They also said they would investigate to see if they could adjust my rate after I placed my cancellation order for an after the fact discount on my bill. read more

Stay away from them! Palmco took advantage of my 87 year old father and signed him up over the phone. Their gas rate is double! I have called 3 separate times to cancel, and they have given me the runaround and lied to me about my fathers regular supplier, telling me they had rejected his request to come back. I personally spoke to his regular supplier and they said no such thing would ever happen. His regular supplier told me they could file a complaint against Palmco if I did not get cancelled on the third call to cancel. I am still waiting to find out if this did get cancelled. I did get a confirmation number on my last call. I will be calling tomorrow to check and see if it went through. This has been going on since August. read more

Just got a call from a call center trying to sell me PalmCo Energy. They "guarantee" me a reduce rate for two months and then they will charge a "competitive" rate. I asked them how and where they got my number and what authorization do they have to call me because I'm on the National Do Not Call list. They said they are exempt from that list because they aren't trying to sell me anything, they are simply offering me the opportunity to switch energy suppliers...lol, idiots...Then I asked them what rate the customers are paying now that got the "super low" rate two months ago, they said they couldn't tell me that....lol...bunch of liars, scammers and law breakers.... read more

In my latest THREE bills they billed me five times the price I would have paid through PSE&G for Electric. They will come to your door and offer you lower price and after initial few months they jack-up the price to a very high rate. There are fees when you switch to PALMco even though they tell you it's no cost to switch. What they neglect to tell you is that your current provider, in my case NSTAR/Eversource, will charge you a retroactive rate hike for the amount of time you've been in your current 6 month energy cycle when you switch. I had $168 in fees once I switched to PALMco. Call your current energy provider before you switch and determine if they'll be charging any fees if you switch. Too late I discovered I was 3 months into my current 6 month cycle when I switched and had pay a different/higher rate for those 3 months that equaled an additional $168. You can time it so you switch during the first month of your energy cycle to minimize what you'll have to pay extra, call your current energy provider to figure this out. read more

A man (very unprofessional and hard to understand) came up to our door and tried to get us to "lower" our prices for out electric bill.
