We have a new home on order that we will have delivered in a few months. We researched different Home Manufacturers and this was our favorite. We have close friends that have a Palm Harbor Home that they got a year ago. It's a beautiful home and they love it. The service they received was excellent- They referred us to their sales person- Suzi Clapp. Suzi has been amazing in helping us selecting and ordering our new home, she is so knowledgeable, a great communicator plus a very kind and positive person. Here is my personal experience. I gave them a low rating based on their archaic business practices, non-transparent sales tactics, and overall operations and how it effects the customer. I like their homes, the designs, and some of the stated costs. I bought one, but be warned or wiser than I was.. When it comes time to sign the contracts, they will have added several thousand dollars in charges, and call it their "gold key service", which is basically their way of raising the price without having to tell you upfront the real cost of the home. Also, realize they can take however long they want to actually build your home. They may provide you with a guess but, if it takes them 2 years to complete, you really have no recourse but to just sit and wait, no matter how much that costs you. And just because your home has been constructed, dont be fooled into thinking its almost over...they can also take however long they want to deliver your home....could be months, while it sits completed in a yard waiting, and of course you'll never be provided with ANY updates or commitments of any kind from them regarding when you're new home will arrive and how many months it will take them to complete the on site work once your home finally does arrive....again, that can also easily take several more months. If you have any questions or problems, or request any kind of commitment you wont get it, and you'll often hear no response or someone telling you...um no, you need to contact this person or that department, I dont handle that. Had I to do it all over again, I probably wouldn't use them...its just not worth dealing with a company that operates like its the 1800's....there are so many other manufacturers that actually do a much better and more responsible job. My home has been sitting for well over 5 weeks, after being delivered, with absolutely nothing being done to complete it, and I have not received any response or reply to countless emails and phone calls. read more

We purchased out home through Homes Direct in Redmond, OR in August of 2019 and it was delivered on October 30, 2019. We paid $ 72,000 deposit on order and they said we had to pay the balance before the home was delivered and set up which we did, another $ 72,000. This started the debacle of the set up which took almost 4 weeks. The set up contractor was decent enough but anything that had to do with Homes Direct was a disaster. Their crackhead cleaning crews only vaccumed the home and did a poor job. The crown moulding was not caulked and painted. They did not remove the stickers on the windows or clean the windows. The crackheads drove thorough our septic drain field. A cabinet fell over during transport and was damaged which they said they would replace but never did despite many phone calls and e mails to them. The reason they want paid before the home is delivered is so they will not have to do any of the repairs and just keep blowing the clients off. We are making one last attempt to get them to repair the problems and fix the siding that is now coming unsealed. If they do not make some kind of reasonable repair then we will file a CCB complaint. Home is decent enough but the workmanship and customer service is horrible. read more

DON'T BUY A PALM HARBOR HOME! We chose to order a Palm Harbor after looking at the lot models at three different dealers. Quality and workmanship was very important to us and what we saw in the lot models was quite good. After nearly a year our home was delivered, and our problems began. To say quality and workmanship were poor would be an understatement! Not even close to what we saw in the lot models! After five months of sporadic work by the dealer, we were "told" the work was finished (based on our initial walk-through) and any additional items were not covered by the one-year warranty! There is a long and growing list of things to be fixed that ARE within the scope of the warranty, but the dealer and factory refuse to do anything about any of them. The dealer has lied to us and the factory, and the factory has absolutely stonewalled every attempt we have made to get our home fixed. read more

Like others before me, zero stars is not an option, or I would have chosen that. Home was supposed to be completed in 4 months - took over a year. Home arrived with the black metal roof covered in white overspray because they did not cover the roof before spraying the facia boards. Sent workers to "fix" it and they used denatured alcohol to try to remove it. Removed some, overspray is diminished, but so is the sheen and coating from the roof. Palm Harbor will not acknowledge our requests to replace the roof. They lied to the roof supplier and to another repair worker, saying that their workers used only soap and water on the roof. We specifically asked them what they were using while they were cleaning it. We did some investigating, and called the company who supplied the roofing and discovered that denatured alcohol has most likely voided our 40 year warranty - roof will now fade, not resist mold and mildew, UV rays, and effects of weather. In addition, there was a metal beam of the frame covering the septic outlet hole. This was unbelievable. They had to send someone to cut out the piece and reweld so we could connect to our septic system. The entertainment center with fireplace was installed upside down, the toilet was installed crooked; so you were angled off looking at the side window while using the toilet. The stove drawer had a big dent in it, which was covered up by their strapping. The pocket door to the bedroom wouldn't open fully because there was a piece of wood in the wall preventing it from opening. The didn't install the tile backsplash like we ordered and paid extra for - leaving off the part behind the stove and only going two tiles up instead of full wall. The list of things wrong with this house is exhausting (this is not all of the issues), the response from Palm Harbor deplorable. All we have asked for since the beginning, is what we paid for - a NEW tiny home built with skill and pride - not some shoddy, thrown together, corner-cutting, sub-standard building that was obviously thrown together and shoved out the door with no quality control whatsoever. Many of these issues have since been repaired - all except roof, but not without major prodding, insisting, waiting, photos, etc. My recommendation: DO NOT PURCHASE A PALM HARBOR HOME! read more

The finish work on these houses is deplorable and no one wants to take responsibility for anything. Going on 8 months since this thing was delivered and still haven't been able to move in. Homes Direct is good at acting like they want to help but very little gets done. Palm Harbor isn't even good at acting like they care. Just this week replaced laminate flooring that was damaged before the house ever left their lot. So many more problems to fix before I can move in. It makes me feel sick to my stomach every day just looking at this mess I paid my hard earned dollars for. My mistake doesn't have to be yours. Just say no. read more

One star because zero isn't an option! Told us house would be ready 10-12 weeks, took twice that. Their laborers, by their own admission, are mostly unskilled and untrained in building. Shoddy work all around. Woodwork and trim very messy! Upgraded cabinets, shelves, and drawers are not square. Doors not closing right. Electrician said their wiring isn't right. Too many things wrong to even write here. Window put in backwards, now fixed, hope it doesn't leak. Wrong kitchen sink, twice. We made the mistake of keeping the second one. Under cabinet lights don't match. Trim missing. Bathroom hot/cold plumbed backwards and still not fixed. They broke our upgraded tub and put in a very bad patch. My opinion is they were hoping we would not notice that we paid for a damaged tub. Promised to fix it, not done. Trim missing, still not done. Multiple people have told us they'll be out to finish and no one shows up, multiple times. Will not return our calls. One person doesn't know what the other is saying or doing. We ordered our house, paid cash, October 3, 2018 and it's still not completed. Homes Direct Sales and Palm Harbor only care until they have your money. Spoke with Mark the manager at the Albany location regarding a crack in the ceiling at the marriage line between the living room and kitchen after having the house less than a year. I understand now that it is no longer their responsibility after our walkthrough to have that fixed by them. However, less than a year of having the house we had many issues that needed to be fixed that were within our warranty from wiring issues to cuts in the flooring, Nails sticking out from the flooring, divits, leaks from the outside faucet, outlets in the kitchen had no power so when the inspector came through that we had to pay, he did not allow us to move in and we had to repay him to come back on a different day until it was corrected. Each time Palm Harbor send out a contractor to have these issues taken care of which it took months my husband and I had to work out which one of us would take a vacation days off, and the contractor did not show up that day. We lost a day of work. When they did show up the parts were ordered incorrectly so they had to reschedule. Again, another missed work day. Working with this company was an absolute nightmare! When I ask Mark did he know about all of this that our family had to go through. His response was no, and that's why they got rid of the person who was in charge of that department. Instead of saying because of everything we put you guys through, we will fix that crack, or at least offer to pay for half. The person that they got rid of was still a representative  of Palm Harbor  so they should stand by their company regardless. I hope you're reading this Floyd... Stand by your company. I would think twice before purchasing a home from them!!! Think of it as a car salesman. Delays with delivery and set up. Took many phone calls to get house finished on the inside. Very poor finish work. Finally gave up and did most of it myself. Roof leaked in 2 spots, siding was damaged and some trim never installed. Interion trim was never finished, shower tile was uneven and cut short. Vinyl flooring was cut and installed over scraps of wood. Some cabinets were not installed in master bath. Cabinet trim throughout was loose and joints did not join. Had cracks in sheetrock joints and repair paint does not match. Happy to show it to you. read more
