I think this is my favorite PBT location. The rooms are clean, and the staff is friendly!

Staff is great, location is prime. They get you checked in pretty quickly and usually beds are ready to go, but this place can get busy real quick-I've never had to wait more than a couple of minutes though. Also they just upgraded a bunch of their beds in June so that's a plus! read more

I'm giving this specific location 3 stars due to the lack of additional comforts (extra towels & bath mats for spray tan) that other palm beach salons offer along with the dirty doors, walls & trim. Tops of the beds aren't wiped down. The regular staff are super friendly & keep the interior of the beds clean. Also, the spray tan bed heater isn't heating the space prior to entry so it's like getting blasted with an outside hose. Withholding those comforts to up-sale supplies (sticky feet pads) isn't worth the $1 they cost. When each customer is paying $60-$100 a month, there shouldn't be a lack of supplies to ensure customers are well taken care of & undressing in a sanitary environment. The mats aren't sanitized after each session to make sure people aren't transferring foot goobers. The spray booths are only being wiped out with the rinsing solution. All locations should be the same across the board & shouldn't lack in those little things that make you want to come in. Other than those things, there are several beds to choose from for any budget, bulbs seem to be well maintained & pricing is reasonable compared to other salons. There are also multiple locations so you're not far away from grabbing a quick nap no matter where you are in town. read more

I went in Sunday for a single tan, I was greeted and treated very well. I settled on a Platinum Tan for $10. We talked about packages, but I just wanted to establish a base. So the plan was a Sunday, then a couple more the week so I could establish a base. Monday was the 4th, busy Tuesday, so I go in tonight and I'm am literally treated like a Homeless vagrant. Turns out Sunday was a 4th only deal, and now I need to pay $33 for a Single Tan. The Monthly package is $71*, so they want almost half the monthly rate for a single. I passed. Maybe they are just geered toward Monthly patrons, but it would have been nice to have a representative of the Company explain that to me, instead of immature over tanned girls who treated me like I smelled bad. Only thing missing was the Valley girl accent! read more

Wouldn't even let me go up two minutes , because I didnt tan at there location yet, ive been going to different ones In town . I'm busy so I go where I can when I have time . When they can see where and for how long . He just kept saying are beds are stronger and we know what's safe. I was only asking to go up two minutes ! I explained I didn't even red when I was in there for 8. The first time the let me do 6 in slay down, next I did 8 in a lay down Then 8 in a stand up and then I had to do 8 again on a lay down . I'm so angry I payed 140 bucks bought the lotion and I'm not even a darker. I've been wearing my two piece suite and you seriously ant even tell . So disappointed . I just got ripped off by Tan Republic and came here to tan for my upcoming tropical vacation. Very clean, nice beds and friendly staff. The music is terrible, I wish they had different stations with more variety other than the poppy two they have. All in all, I love this place. Very shocking! The owner Greg, called me crazy!!! He was defensive about his business, didn't reply to my email, said he didn't get it. When I asked him to clarify the email he said he wasn't near a computer so he doesn't know the email. Very unprofessional, he told me he has received 20 calls this morning so he was too busy to handle this issue. When I told him he was being unprofessional for saying that to me and that he can't clarify an email he said to me "I am the owner of this business, and you're crazy lady!" And then continued to gloat about how he is the owner and how successful his business is. The supervisor sheila was also unprofessional and rude told me to cancel my credit card so that I don't get charged for a month that I can't use. I had to cancel my membership because I am recently immunocompromised and it is unsafe to tan in this pandemic. I didn't cancel on the 25th I canceled on the 30th so I am still responsible for paying the next month of service that I will not being using, and that doesn't make since to me. If I knew I couldn't tan I would have canceled on time. Either way the treatment from management was mind blowing when I asked for a refund. The staff in the salon have always been nice to me, you can tell management puts them under a lot of pressure to make sales because they're constantly hustling the customers to buy and it is pretty pushy. read more

First off, I have to say that Donovan the manager is AMAZING!!! he is always willing to assist with products and knowledge of products to help me maximize my tans.... and he's also just an amazing person and listens to you vent when you are having a bad day! So I went in to this location the other day hoping to restart my platinum membership that I had originally signed up for back in the end of 2020, only problem was they for whatever reason 'couldn't find any record of me signing up in 2020' and the last date that show me coming in was all the way back in 2013 and that account still had a balance on it apparently. Funny thing is, when I came in at the end of last year and the District Manager signed me up and my girl-friend who was with me - she told me she was waiving my balance from that account at that time. So I find it a little... strange, that the best thing this brunette gal (super sweet and doing her best to be helpful) and blonde gal who had seniority (not so sweet and definitely not helpful) could offer me is to 'waive my balance' - again. And then the real cherry on top of this not so great experience, was the blonde girl decided to tell me as the other girl is almost done checking me out and i had already explained to her I bought product when I signed up under a year ago - (at that location!!!) - she says "I just wouldnt feel comfortable signing you up today if you didn't purchase at least one product". It took me saying I guess I just won't sign up today for her to so kindly 'waive' the product issue. Ok FYI - I used to be an assistant manager at a tanning salon. I'm not a some freaking idiot when it comes to their sales tactics and yes I understand it's part of their job. But this was completely rude, unprofessional, and unnecessary. I wasn't even offered a discount on product - which is something that's very common when you sign up. My experience in 2020 with their manager was WONDERFUL. She was so sweet and helpful. My experience 2 days ago was honestly one of those worst I've had in a long time. I ended up signing up for another platinum monthly plan. Although I wish I wouldn't have, because after I had already paid I was asking her to look into why she couldn't find any record of me signing up and after hardly looking she waves her hands in front of her face at me saying 'I don't even care about that anymore...' and goes on to repeat herself for a third time telling me if I need to cancel my membership I need to do it by a certain date. I really don't like to leave reviews like this because until 2 days ago; I have always had great experiences at Palm Beach. But I think it's necessary and I hope someone in management see's this and hopefully is able to hopefully train her (the blonde girl who was working at around 5pm on 9/6/21) in the appropriate areas so that another customer doesn't have to go through the same unpleasant experience I did. read more

I am a member of Palm Beach Tan and for the most part just do spray tanning unless I go somewhere exotic and need a light base so I don't burn up. I have visited 4 different locations and this one is the best of the best. Their versa machine is newer and not as noisy, so you can hear the voice when it tells you which way to face. The staff here is exceptional, very helpful and not pushy with selling their supplies, unlike the rest, which is why I love coming here and drive further to this one than the others. Well, things started out wonderfully... I was starting to run out of lotion, so I purchased a second bottle. The price was $50. I didn't use the new bottle right away because I still had some of my old bottle left. The new bottle was a different kind than I had been using--one that I was promised was good for sensitive skin. But when I went to use it, I broke out in hives that were so bad I didn't go tanning for 6 days. When my skin healed, I went back in and asked to exchange the lotion. All I got in return was passive-aggressive attitude. I had to fill out a form and was told the owner would need to review it and would probably tell me "no." Today, after 4 days, I got the "no" phone call I'd been waiting for. And the owner didn't even call me herself; she had one of the salesgirls do it. Apparently they have a policy that all products must be returned within 7 days. I had no idea. Had I known it was urgent, I would have tried it sooner and returned it much more quickly, but I didn't imagine it would be an issue. I was treated like someone who was trying to get away with something, or to cheat them out of something, and to say I'm insulted doesn't begin to describe how I feel. I actually feel victimized. I was pressured to try a new product, and the new product gave me hives, and all I wanted was to exchange it for one that doesn't give me hives. I don't think I've ever been treated this way by a business in Portland. I guess keeping my $50 is more important to them than my overall business. Bye-bye, Palm Beach Tan. read more

So I just wasted time again trying to come here to purchase a package, the last time I came I waited 20min to speak with someone, there add says $19 no contracts they do require a card that will charge you monthly. I left that day then decided I would come back and just do it, I was almost done setting up and she then said there was an additional 20 sign up fee. So again I wasted my time. Nowhere on there add is that mentioned. There was also someone in front of me the fist day very upset about how they did business and overcharged her.. guess I should have taken that as a sign the first day? When I signed up for a membership, my intention was to jump start my tan for the summer, not make a lifelong commitment. As soon as I said I wanted to cancel my membership after building a tan over the course of two months the tone there completely changed. They were very rude and condescending about it on multiple occasions thereafter. Each time, trying to pressure me to spend $7.50 a month to hold my membership and guarantee the same rate. Then they would roll there eyes each time that I reminded them it didn't make sense for me. All and all, it was the worst customer service I have ever seen. The way I was treated was appalling. I will never go back there and I am definitely am not paying them $7.50 a month, in case I change my mind. read more

I really like this salon, i go during the winter months only and when I don't use the tanning it takes small monthly amount out and saves it till I want another package later. I really like this by the time I need a new package I have already paid for a good portion. The staff is really friendly and once you come in a couple time they start to remember you're name which is nice. Beds are always clean and they always have cool new beds that I love to try. I always come out looking tan, even without lotion. Great place overall ill be back in fall! :) read more

This is the second time in a row the Mystic machine has messed up on me. Maybe a week or so ago I went in to spray tan and it was only spraying air. I alerted the front desk, we tried again, and it only sprayed air. So I had to head to the airport to go on my vacation without one which sucks but it happens. I came back again today figuring the problem would be fixed by now and got into the Mystic and it sprayed HALF of the time. Each turn it sprayed less tanning solution and I had to rush home to shower in hopes I dont end up looking like a zebra by later today. The girl at the desk was apologetic and said there was just someone in there and it worked but why then would it only break for me?? I will never risk getting a spray tan at this location again I'm just going to have to travel the extra distance to the Broadway location. Also, I've recieved conflicting information at this location regarding the lotions/primers/intensifiers/bronzers I should be using to cocktail tan. Every time I come in it seems someone tells me the last person was wrong about what I should be using and it seems like all they want me to do is buy the whole shelf behind them so I have all the wizardry for a perfect tan. Avoid this place. Go elsewhere! Anywhere but here! They sell you what you don't need by suckering you into their so called 'savings'! They lie to get you to upgrade! Seriously! They lie to you! They tell you that 30 days is not long enough to get a good tan and that you will hardly get any color at all. Haha! I tanned 8 days here and I have had enough. Granted, everyone is different, but for them to tell that to everyone is wrong. They give you all these numbers and expect you to remember everything. They sell you their tan lotion that is basically just that....lotion. But, they charge you 10 times as much as it's really worth. Everything is their favorite! Every bed is their favorite! Don't go here! Save your money and check out other places in the area! And another thing, if you sign up for diamond? Their diamond bed is usually out of order or in use, so, you rarely get to use it. I am SO glad the one month package I purchased ended. Here is how it started. Sign says "$19.99 to tan all month". You get in and no, it's actually $39.99 because you have to pay to join the stupid club for jerks. I don't want to be in a tan club/program/cult. I just don't care. I just want to pay for my tans and leave as quickly as possible. So the girl runs through all the options and I tell her more than once that I won't do a EFT (auto pay) from a credit card/debit card/checking account/you name it. I won't. You know why? Because it's tanning. They want you to believe all this science and fancy lotions and they have a QFC secret recipe for achieving a "healthy" tan (Ha!). I don't care, this isn't the the bank or insurance, you don't get to deduct money from me monthly for tanning. So I tell her no auto pay, and of course all the options she gives me are auto pay, till she finally tells me that I can pay for one month at the Silver level for $49.99 plus tax. Yes, this is a lot but I prefer just paying out of pocket than giving them authority to charge my card. So I pay it as soon come to find out that every time I come in, I will be asked to either upgrade my package or my lotion. I never do this. First off, they tell you that the lotion is the majority of the tan. There lotions are ridiculous marked up. Trust me, this is where tanning salons make a ton of money. So you just buy your lotion on line for 75% less, and they tell you it's not good because maybe it's expired, etc. But honestly, it makes me tan, and it smells good, and that's all that truly matters. Then you come to find out that they have maybe three "Silver Level" tanning beds. Keep in mind, this is also the level that is being advertised for $19.99 (but it's actually $39.99) so I am sure it's the most popular option. Want to know why? Because every god damn time I came it there seemed to be a 25+ minute wait for a bed. It's awful. I tried going around 11am, lunch time there was no chance, and even after 2pm there is a wait. There is nothing worse than sitting in a tanning salon waiting room listening to the employees talk about the most inane things. It's mind numbing. To top it off, when you say something about the wait you get "well there are bed's available at the blah blah blah level" which of course you have to pay more for. And of course I don't. If you call in, they don't make appointments. I was told because the wait is rarely long. I believe the website says this as well. This is not true. My final pet peeve? Don't call your cusomters "hon" unless you are a middle aged vegas cocktail waitresss. ESPECIALLY if you are under 25 years old, and you are calling women older than you, "Hon". It's very tacky. Worst place ever. Don't come here. I just joined Tan Republic/Tan Rio. Much much much better. read more

I love this place! I just finished my contract at Tan Republic, and had such a meh experience with them that I wasn't even really considering bothering with spray tans anymore. Then I planned a trip to Vegas, and figured I could use a base tan and some color. Palm Beach tan is only a few blocks from my apartment, so why not? I went in and signed up for an account that is the same price as what I was paying at TR, only with more feature. I tried bed tanning for the first time, and the woman who signed me up was VERY careful about only putting me in for a few minutes, because I'm about as pale and freckle-y as it gets. I was so happy about the light tan I got from the bed/Mystic combo that as soon as I came back from vacation (literally three hours after I got off the plane), I was back for more. The sweet redhead at the counter this time gently suggested I stick with spray tanning, since I'm very fair. At TR, they were always trying to hustle me into getting a bed tanning membership- I'm not used to someone acting like it's perfectly fine to just spray tan! It was very reassuring. Honestly, unless the tanning bed explodes while I'm in it or I go blind from UV rays or something, I can't imagine my opinion changing. This tanning salon has totally turned around my view of tanning salons. I don't know why they don't have a million raves reviews, but I'm a huge fan now! read more

Every time i come in to tan, the girls are very friendly and the place is always very clean! I never feel pressured to upgrade my package or buy a new lotion, it just feels as if the employees have my best interests in mind which is getting tan! Everyone, especially Erin, is very knowledgable about the various products the salon offers as well as tanning in general. Fortunately, I have never had to wait for a bed but I usually come in closer to closing time (10 pm on the weekdays) so maybe that is why. read more

Honestly the actual facility and beds are great and there's never too long of a line which is nice but one of the staff members is unbelievably pushy and makes the experience miserable. After buying a package, I declined to buy lotion despite the sales lady strongly recommending it. For the next 3 times I came in, the person up front (I believe his name is Donnovan?) tried to sell me lotion for over 10 minutes. Despite telling him no multiple times he kept pushing and made me wait through his entire pitch every single time. There have been multiple occasions when I drove over to tan but left before going in because I saw that he was working. I eventually did buy lotion from a very nice (and NON PUSHY) sales rep one day thinking that would make Donnovan leave me alone. Went in yesterday and he asked me to show him which lotion I bought then tried to sell me a different kind which I refused. He then tried to sell me a "face specific" lotion which I also refused. I do understand Palm Beach is trying to make a profit and this is how employees make commission but honestly this particular employee makes it such a miserable experience by being so aggressive and refusing to take no for an answer. I've heard from other people that they also use other locations to avoid this particular employee. Sometime I just want to tan and don't have the extra 10+ minutes to sit through his pitch before he'll put me in a bed. I highly recommend talking to this employee about taking no for an answer because he's the only thing stopping me from giving this location a 5 star review. read more

All locations that I have been to have been great. The ladies are kind, and friendly... Until I went to the Gateway/Halsey location.... Initially, one of the ladies that had checked me in was kind etc.. Leaving, I was walking out, while trying to gather my keys from my purse, I reached to touch the door (that had a sign saying "please open other door") and the blonde politely says " oh, other door! " and as I said "oops" and looked back, I caught the co-worker next to her looking at the blonde with her mouth open saying "Oh my god".. As if I was dumb. Sorry, i'm not dumb, just in a hurry, and was looking in my purse. Secondly, BAD way to make yourself and that business look professional. Take your high school attitude elsewhere. I am an frequent spray tanner, have been with PBT for years.. This location has yet to prove me wrong. It is the closest location near my home. When I'm desperate for a last min tan I will come here. The last 3 times haven't been so bad. UNTIL last night. Yes i know sat and sun PBT closes at 8pm, but i rushed over and walked in at 7:51. (closed sign already off) She had asked me what i wanted to do. I was very happy because I had made it before 8. I tell her Spray tan pls. she said Im sorry i cannot let you spray tan, our policy is that we have to be out of here by 8pm. SOOOO PISSED. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED at other locations. she said they shut down the spray machine at 7:45pm to clean the filters and kept repeating we have to be out by 8:00pm. SOOOO was she going to let me bed tan for 12min? obviously not out by 8pm. who knows. I'm over it. My fault for going there in the first place. I've tried to contact the manager via email before.. but no where to be found. best bet try another LOCATION. read more

Ok, I moved to Portland 2 months ago, found a coupon online for a cheaper mystic and wanted to try this place out since it was right down the street and I could become a frequent tanner. I showed up and presented my coupon. The girl at the front asked me for my first and last name. She then told me I could not use it since I was in the system from a different location. I explained that I used to go tanning at a location that Palm beach had bought out, but i have not been there since mmm maybe 2008. She then argued with me and told me that wasn't true. Which really it WAS! They obviously did not care to have my business, she did not tell me any specials or even care to offer the regular price mystic ( which I would have bought anyway, if she would'nt have copped an attitude.) Not to mention there was not a single sole in this place. I wish I would have read the reviews about this place first. I suggest even if you are a "new member," save yourself the time and go somewhere else read more
