They never stopped billing me & insisted I was responsible for it. The manager at the time insisted I pay ( it was like $300 worth of billings). I told her she needed to check with corporate as this was their employee's mistake. They took 1// off & still wanted me to pay. I had a membership and I was not going to be able to use it for a few months so I called to cancel or pause. I was told only a Manager could do that. I stopped by but no Manager was there. I called again and asked if a Manager was there. I was told no but possibly afternoon. I went by but no Manager so I stopped my card. I went for the special for 15.00 and ended up paying 45.00 to sign up, I am a bigger woman and the tanning bed they had I couldn't get into and out of comfortably, I explained this to the girl working the front desk and she offered for me to try a different bed then told me it was 24.00 up charge! I wanted to just cancel my membership I JUST SIGNED up for and she said she had to wait for a manger to do it and she would call me the next day. well here I am 13 days later and I got a call from the assistant manager who couldn't help me without the Manger! absolutely insane to not have a response for almost 2 weeks, well another payment was taken off my credit card and still no one has reached out that can provide actual help on a refund and cancellation. read more

I understand everyone is crazy right now, the front desk is really friendly with staff in general- I can't imagine being unhappy working at a tanning salon. But we need to do better with auto-billing please. When I come in to cancel, then you don't charge me for four proceeding months like you aren't supposed to... Why all of a sudden do you charge me randomly? Dont tell me I didn't cancel because it's "not in your system that I came in to cancel", so you won't refund me. Umm hello? It successfully cancelled for four months. Then blame said lack-of-refund for the one error charge because you don't have a manager present. That sounds like your issue. Train your employees a tad better and your small business will thrive 100% more. You have to be prepared for all situations, especially when it comes to digital transactions involving exchange of currency. I'm going to add, there should be a way we can read the contract we are signing for. You have us use the digital signature but we can't actually read what we are signing for. Then the employee looks at us like we are annoying if we want to read it. At least have a laminated copy as an example or something, it seems unlawful. read more

I want to start by saying I've been tanning on and off for 20 years. I've worked in several tanning salons, used lay down beds, stand up tanners and gotten many spray tans in that time. I've been a member of Palm Beach Tan off and on for about 6 years now and I currently have the level two monthly plan. I have to say that you won't find a better place for this quality/price anywhere else on the west side. People seem to want to complain that they only have one level 1 bed and that they always have to wait for it to be open but they are the same people that go during the busiest hours or don't understand that the company would never make money if they didn't offer better/other options. As for lotions and other products, they have a great selection and the employees seem to know a lot about them; for the most part. I don't know if they make commission, but when I worked at a tanning salon there were bonuses and rewards for selling lotions. Plus, why wouldn't you want to share about great new products you love to use yourself. If you're like me personally, I can't afford that stuff so I politely tell them no thank you and shop elsewhere. But you can't be mad if they are just suggesting and doing their job. When it comes to their staff, I've never had issues at this location. Shawna has also been super helpful and knowledgeable every time I'm there. The employees are patient, friendly, and welcoming and they've always followed any safety requirements each time I've been there. This location is always clean and I've always felt comfortable using all tanning options. They always provide you with a fresh clean towel and sunnies for protection. Their beds are clean and I've never had issues with bulbs being out or dull. When it comes to that time of year when you don't want to use your membership, it's super easy to freeze and the monthly freeze charge goes right back to you when you restart your account! That money can be used towards tanning or products. It's seriously a win win. I hope that if you've made it this far through my long ass review that you'll take it to heart and realize most of those other posts were because something didn't go right. Lexi is the WORST person I've EVER dealt with! I went in for my tan and my daughter was going to get one too. We had my 5 month old grand daughter with us. Lexi told me to put the non tanning person outside yes like a dog! She's 5 months old. Their printed on the wall rules say any one under the age of 9 MUST WAIT IN THE WAITING ROOM WITH AN ADULT. My sister goes to this location pretty frequently to tan and has been looking extremely tan which is the only reason I'm giving them a star. If there were a negative rating I would happily go with that instead. One of these weekends I'm tempted to find out who upper management and tell them all the stuff that their employees do in front of people on the clock. Calling other businesses to find out their sales and gossiping about other employees is extremely unprofessional. I am a manager at a cancer clinic and if my staff ever talked like this in front of patients I'd have them written up in a heart beat. So for my sister to feel so uncomfortable because of the staffs lack of common sense to know when to talk about bonuses due to sales and their terrible personalities is completely absurd. This place better be ready for me next time I am close by when I go with my sister. My sister should not be putting up with this behavior especially when they like to charge her card random charges when she has already paid her initiation fee when she first went in. My sister should have taken her friends advice who works at another tanning salon when she said none of these chain tanning locations have pleasant staff. Incredibly rude employees. The Mystic Kiss Spray Tan was highly recommended, so I was going to be a first time client. Also, the ONLY tanning salon I've ever been in where my 6 year old can't sit in the room with me while I'm in the spray tan booth. So instead of even letting me get a word out and ask any questions she interrupts me asking about my child and turns me away. For a spray tan that takes 3 minutes to complete. HORRIBLE customer service. I walked in tonight after giving palm beach a 2nd (or really 3rd) chance after the spray tan machine broke down TWICE mid spray tan at the desert ridge location so I figured it would give this location a try. I hadn't been in in a while and I know last year I had my membership frozen. The girl who checked me in told me I had a "red card" balance of $75 before I can even tan. She went and got someone else since she wasn't sure why, and the girl who helped me had a major attitude look on her face and kept interrupting me and basically could not wait to tell me I couldn't tan until I paid this balance. When I asked what the balance was for, she said it was racked up from an expired card I had on file for my "frozen membership fee" of $7.50 every month. I never got a phone call that I had an expired card on file and I haven't been to palm beach in over a year! I asked her what that service fee was going to since I haven't used their facilities in over a year and she just kept saying "this is the money you owe us". Listen, I'm not unreasonable. I've had several terrible experiences with palm beach - like the broken down spray tan machines where HALF my body was spray tanned and then I had to scrub the rest off. Shame on me for trying a new location thinking it would be any different. There was no offer for resolution or any REAL explanation, and absolutely zero kindness. Customer service is dead. read more

I walked in through the unlocked door, the assistant manager, Katey, looks up from the computer and says 'we aren't open yet' (with an impatient tone). I asked, what time is it? She didn't look up from her computer. I again asked, what time is it? The other girl told me 9:57. I am not an unreasonable person. I would understand if they can't get into their computers until 10:00. But the door was unlocked and I could have been told I could wait inside for three minutes until they opened. Last week I bought the "Diamond" package for the month which supposedly includes the best tanning bed and spray tanning. I tanned last Week and then spray tanned, medium, the results were nice. So I go in there tonight to tan and spray tan. The girl insists that the medium spray tan is clear and will give me no results whatsoever unless I add $13 in additives that were unused from the last customer- for an additional price!!!! I already paid $122.00 for the month!!! I also explained to her I spray tanned last week and there was color on my skin!!! She insisted medium has no color!!!! So I canceled my spray tanning for the following month! She said it would be the same price so I canceled everything!!! One con is if you're looking for a cheap option, such as a level 1 bed, there's always a wait because they only have one. I opted for level 3, which has stand up & lay down options, & there's almost never a wait. I feel bad that this tanning salon has only received two reviews at one star! It seems that people are only upset about the employees up selling products. As a sales person myself, this is not a negative, salespeople make commission on products so why be upset if they are just trying to make money to provide for themselves. Secondly, I used to work for iTan a while back and working at a salon you get to try different products and become passionate about the ones that work! Especially the smell of certain kinds or when you discover one that truly works and you have the interest in telling EVERYONE about the new discovery you have made! This salon is busy, and that goes to show that people DO like this tanning salon and keep coming back. It is always clean, they provide baby wipes in the bathroom which is a nice touch and the girls are very sweet! Frist off tanning is tanning. I have been visiting tanning salons for over 30 years now and for the most part I don't expect all that much. However my life/health situation has changed over the last 5 years and I now use tanning for a different purpose, I buy about 10 visits a year, in their higher quality beds and I tan for about 5 minutes each session... so in essence I pay more to tan less. I started with Palm Beach about 4 years ago in the east valley, I NEVER had a problem- I got great customer service and when I asked for their tanning package to be able to extend out a year and why, they said no problem and stood behind their word... 2 years ago I moved to the west side of Phoenix and the complete opposite happened, they said they could/would offer me the same courtesy but that never happened... I always had to advocate for myself and the end result was me finally discontinuing services with them. As of October 15th I had 4 visits left- mostly due to the setbacks with COVID and business changes -however the manager advised me they expired and are no longer available to me even though I only bought my package early this year. I value great customer service and that is the one thing I never seemed to be able to find at this location. In the positive, I did find the facility clean and the decor inviting, the beds were of good quality. So instead of over selling me and not holding up their end, they could have been completely honest with me, I could have bought a lesser package. I even tried to reach out the Regional Manager but decided after I left the voicemail that this would fall on deaf ears. I know their job is to sell but my hope is they will actually start to listen and stand by their word. read more

I thought I'd take advantage of the 14.95 monthly unlimited tanning, what a joke, they only have ONE bed and the rest are the more expensive beds, plus the don't make appointments, I'd try and stop by after work almost always the wait was over a half hour. I'd stop by between jobs and didn't have time to wait, the girls were rude. It cost me 30.00 for a membership and first month tanning, then to cancel i had to give 30 day notice. What a waste of my money that I work very hard for. They should have let you make appointments. The cheap price is just bait to get you in there to buy the more expensive packages. They said if I didn't want to wait I could pay 15.00 for one of the more expensive beds for a single visit. Terrible place stay away. If i could I'd give it a minus 10 stars. read more

The salon is beautiful. The front desk girl was sweet. That being said I went on Wednesday to get spray tan. I've had numerous spray tans as I used to live close to desert escape tan salon. My tans from there would last week to week and half. I cocktail spray tan. I have spray tan body wash and appropriate after care. My spray tan lasted about 12 hours. I had a work function and could not post until now but I spent $93 on a cocktail spray tan that lasted for about 12 hours. Super disappointed. read more

Poor service. Employees have no idea about anything. My dad got a one time membership here. After his first visit he got a referral card where he could send a friend to get 1 free spray tan or 4 free tanning bed sessions and he would get $10 in tan credits. The first time he came the young girl at the front desk took 20 minutes to register him. Then the next night when he came he was no where to be found in the system. When I called with a few questions about the friend referral the girl who answered the phone told me she didn't know the answers to my questions and I should call back when a manager is there. When I decided to come in with my dad to use my 1 free spray tan, the young girl at the front desk did not know how to put it into the computer. We waited again for 20 minutes. After we got my free tan set up my dad tried to use his tanning credit and she said it would take a few weeks before he could actually use the benefit. NONE OF THIS IS PUT ON THE REFERRAL CARD. AND the wait line for the basic tanning bed is ridiculous and the easy simple solution is to add more basic tanning beds. Update: I was called by customer service and they apologized for the wait and explained that the Location that I was at only had one silver pkg bed and at high traffic times there can be a wait and gave me some free upgrades to use. It's important to note that the staff at this location are nice and friendly however the policy's of the company do not give them much flexibility when dealing with situations such as mine. Thats crazy, salon closer to home will just upgrade you to avoid the wait and keep their customers happy. The young blond at the counter is only pleasent when you sign up, then you get her disinterested persona. I def will not reinstate my monthly membership after this month. The most unprofessional business I've ever encountered in my life. I'd actually pay people to stay away from this place. I bought a bottle of bronzer yesterday, they seem to be having "computer issues" even though the money has come out of my account, and I pulled up my online statement for them to see, yet they still asked me for another card cause they couldn't see it on their end. I then received a rather skathy, threatening phone call from the manager Shawna, whom wouldn't listen to a word I said, just told me she was basically going to put a $45 charge on my account. I asked to speak with her supervisor and she gave me some number to an automated directory for the company. But! I found the guys number, I then talked to the rudest piece of shit in retail named Joseph in charge of Vegas and Az area whom I had such a horrible conversation with I actually told him he was lucky he wasnt in front of me. The employees of this company need to work on their ability to explain things to their customers. I had a spray tan membership and decided to cancel because it was pool season and I didn't need a fake tan. The girl gave me the third degree as to why I was canceling and then asked if I wanted to put my membership on hold for a small fee. I agreed because I figured I'd be back once it got to cold to lay out. She failed to specify that they would be charging me $7.64 every single month. Fast forward months and months, I'm paying closer attention to what gets pulled out of my account I noticed this fee. Completely my fault to not pay closer attention to what money was being taken out, but it needed to stop. I went into the salon to cancel, not ask for my money back, but cancel. I was informed I had a balance of 17 dollars and some odd cents, even though I hadn't used their services for almost two years. The charges were from a payment that didn't go through because I had turned my debit card off at the time. When I asked the girl why I should have to pay that fee when they've taken almost $200 from me to "pause" my account without me using their services for almost two years, she shrugged and said she can't cancel it with a smug smirk on her face. If the first girl would have specified that the fee was monthly I would have just canceled. I'm unhappy with the services and how rude and unsympathetic the employees are. Thank goodness my bank has fantastic customer service and with one called initiated a stop payment so they can't take my money anymore and have filed a claim to have me reimbursed.
