This place is awful. I asked to put my membership on hold because I was going to be gone for the month. They said no problem. The following month I was charged $150 as usual. I went in to tan and they tell me I have to pay for the previous month before I can tan because whoever didn't put the hold in the system. Came into this location by chance; I didn't know/had forgotten it was here, and it is not in my usual neighborhood. But we got something to eat next door, so it was handy. Clean, big location. Friendly service. Good selection of beds. I'm a reluctant tanner, and a reluctant Palm Beach member. (I moved away from my favorite place, joined LA Tan, and then they, or at least local ones, got bought out by Palm Beach.) I don't like their pricing plans, because I don't go often, don't spray tan, etc. For other people, it might work out fine, but a fairly hefty minimum monthly fee does not feel like a value to me. I pay a lot for a little use. If you go often, it might be fine for you. Anyway, of their locations, this is a pretty good one. Central city, which they don't have many of. I drove to the location at 1181 Olentangy Road. Before doing so I viewed the website and read several reviews . Many of the reviews talk about what I experienced today and its disappointing. I walked in with a coupon for the "free" SPRAY tan. I read the fine print the reads "see salon for details." Ahhh. A loop hole ! I was forced to go here, as it is now the only place that has tanning beds in Columbus since the closure of Tan Pro. I used to be able to walk into Tan Pro and pay $5-7 for a walk-in, since I do not tan that often, usually only for special events. They informed me that their walk-in was $19 per session, and that I had to buy their lotion or else their beds "wouldn't work." So I bought their $11 packet of lotion, making my total for a 7 minute tanning bed session over $30 with tax. When I tanned at Tan Pro, one or two sessions would make me significantly tanner. Even using their lotion in a bed emitting UV rays into my skin, I didn't look tanner at all. I will not be returning here even if it means I never tan again. read more

I have gone to this establishment for years and kept an account, despite only going on special occasions, due to the ability to freeze it (with a minimal monthly fee), and keep the same package. Recently, I discovered fraud on my bank account, and after informing Palm Beach AFTER payment was due, there was a discussion of a fee (understandably), but they refused to freeze until they got back with me. They never did. I went to tan, and they said it WAS frozen, so I left it frozen since I was going on vacation a day later and really just wanted to check my account and get a base. Long story short, months later, I went to tan before an event, and they refused service, stating that the account was NEVER frozen and I owed for all previous months- (never tanned once). I asked for a manager and was told I had to leave a number. Pretty humiliating experience for me, but I remained friendly. No one called. I saw in reviews that this has happened before with a lot of stress and back and forth messaging. I emailed, and still, NO RESPONSE. I'm really sad to lose my account after all this time and don't even want to show my face in there after being treated like a thief. BE CAREFUL, GET IT IN WRITING, and DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. So I needed a spray tan the night before I left for vacation so I thought I would give this place a try. I have zero idea how but my total was $54 because the person at the front desk didn't explain what I was paying for at all!! Their website advertises spray tans for $15, I understand that it was more than that but I truly have no idea why it was that much. It was my first spray tan so I didn't know what questions to ask but I'm considering calling this week and asking for an itemized response. I check in with Kim & tell her that my account was originally from out Of state. Told her also how last time I was in this location last week & I was only put in for 6 min when I Requested full 12 min and was Given a credit to up grade for this issue . She says they have no way to see that because out of state account.. ?? I tell her it happened at this location. She was like well can't see that and brushed it off like can't help you. I moved here from out of state and have been to this location several times. The staffing and service have never been an issue for me and the place is clean. The 2 beds I've used have been fabulous and my versa spray tan experience has been great. The only opportunity from my perspective is that I'd prefer not to pitched a product each visit. I've been coming to this location for almost as long as I've lived in Columbus, which is ~6 years. All of the employees are always SO nice. I would've given this 5 stars but the past two times I've come in, there's been a girl named Kaylee that's checked me in and wasn't the friendliest. When I came here two days ago I brushed off her somewhat abrasive demeanor thinking maybe she had a bad day, but when I came in today she was still the same way. Maybe that's how she is and that's totally fine, but the thing that wasn't okay was when she handed me a folded towel (normally they're rolled up with the goggles inside), and so I assumed there wasn't goggles in there. I asked politely if I could also have a pair of goggles and she told me in a rude, undermining way that they were already in there... like, almost like a "duhhh, they're in there" kind of attitude. Like I said, if that's just how she is then I totally accept that. I just was bothered by how she treated the goggle situation... Definitely could've been handled a bit more politely. read more

Terrible experience, was forced into a membership to tan a handful of times before my wedding instead of just buying individual tans. Called to cancel my membership while on my honeymoon but they force you to cancel in person at a physical location. Which was obviously not possible at that point in time. Once I was back from my honeymoon I went in to cancel in person and asked for them to reverse my last month or put on a gift card so I could use for future use. Since I will not be tanning in a tanning bed anytime in the near future, was only doing it for the special occasion. Was hoping I could use a gift card for a spray tan in the future. They were not willing to work with me amidst a busy time in someone's life, like a wedding. And let $200+ of unused tans to go down the drain. Worst tan and customer service I have experienced in 10 years. After the closure or tan pro I selected palm beach out of the desire to tan close to my home. Generally I get a spray tan. After trying out their spray tan three times with the third time being convinced my dissatisfaction was due to my u willingness to pay $50 a tan. The $50 spray tan was streaky abs the worst received to date. I switched to lay down, which I have not chosen in 5 years. Note I worked at a salon in Las Vegas as a teenage 2o years ago. Bulb intensity is subpar abs the service even worse. My last appt waited ten minutes for stand up, put in lower grade bed, and two minutes later turned off as not my assigned bed. Was offered 6 minutes versus 12 and than told to wait after already laterhered up abs nude. Good customer service would have provided for an apology abs an upgrade. This place completely scams you. Especially this location. I went in and signed up for the $15 a month package. Which was already bad because they try to pressure you into buying the more expensive package. I went to pay and I knew there was a $20 start up fee but I was charged $60. I asked why I was charged $60, it should've been closer to $35. She told me it was because I was paying for that month, plus the following month. So that was fine, but the following month they told me I owed them. I told them I had already paid for that month since that's what they told me I overpaid for the month before. The girl told me that would have never happened and no one pre pays for the next month, so I'm not sure what I overpaid for?? The following month was more expensive too, and she said it was because I didn't sign up for the $15 package which I told the first girl that's what I wanted to sign up for. The salon employees overall are pretty good, the beds are good quality, and everything is typically clean. If these were the only factors influencing my decision I would rate them 4 stars. Unfortunately, I have had a slew of negative experiences with them and their company. I have been tanning at this location for 6 months, paying for the most expensive package (I think $120 a month). This comes with unlimited tanning in any bed and unlimited spray tanning. 1) During multiple visits I was not able to to use the spray tanning equipment due to them being out of nose filters. I actually went to another location one week and they were also out of nose filters too. Against my best judgement I took their advice saying it was ok to not use them. I felt pretty crappy the rest of the night, I should have known better. 2) During my last month I often found equipment not taken care of. Mainly finding bulbs blown out and the water in the misting systems not filled/functioning. 3) They don't seem to staff well for peak times. I often go there and the place is empty, but there are 4 employees. Other times the place is jammed (around 10-15 people waiting) and there will be 2 employees. 4) Possibly the worst of all of this was their double door to one room. I tanned, got out of the bed and the doors were wide open. Luckily no one was around, but that would have been awkward. I had to grab both doors and close them quickly, and upon further inspection noticed that one of the two doors should have been secured in the frame with these little bolts. My guess is they forgot to relatch it properly - which is a pretty big privacy concern. 5) I actually emailed the customer service to share these experiences with them. What really upset me, was that they didn't even respond to my email. No apology, no explanations, or even excuses. Just nothing. 6) Just an FYI, you have to cancel 5 days before the end of the month or you will get charged another month. They don't tell you this and all the documents you sign you can't see (you just sign the pad). Nice little surprise to finish up everything! Luckily, there are enough tanning salons out there - plus I don't really need to tan. I would recommend skipping Palm Beach Tan. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS. The Olentangy River Road location continued to charge me for membership services for over a year after I canceled my service in person. I wish I had paid closer attention and taken action sooner, my fault however, after admitting that I have not been in the establishment since April of 2018, they offer to refund me 3 months worth of fees. When contacting by the store manager (Katlyn) she could only elaborate on how they continued to charge my card but could not offer a means for me to contact her superior to further discuss the matter. She did however offer free services. Ha! Incredible! NEGLECTFUL STAFF! UNCOOPERATIVE AND INCOMPETENT MANAGEMENT!!! I will be escalating this matter with higher levels of management or ownership once I find those contacts. read more

This place has quality beds. I've never been disappointed in my tan. I've also never seen any issues with cleanliness. I hate the membership costs, though. I tan here often and have been for months. It's crazy expensive and such a hassle to cancel. That's just Palm Beach, though. The girls are nice, but I am exhausted of them trying to push products on me. I completely understand that there are probably requirements that these girls have to meet. My skin is incredibly sensitive, but I tan easily and use my own lotions after tanning to keep my skin healthy. I do not need any lotion!! I've told almost all of the employees, yet they continue to ask and literally make sales pitches before I go into the bed. To me, that just shows that money is their motivation and they do not care about their customers at all. I've never really had to wait to tan. Place is easy to get to and has good hours. My only complaint really is their sales model, I guess- but it's enough for me to see going tanning as a chore some days. read more

You can see that almost every response on this page from Palm Beach Tan is copy and past and result in no actual change in how they do business, they do not actually care about customer feedback. I went here just to do one tanning session because I had just done a session at a different location. The two girls working and their manager tried to sell me $90 worth of lotions and products I didn't need even after telling them I didn't want to spend much and that I had my own products. They also coerced me into buying a membership and didn't tell me the prices of anything I was buying. The manager was also encouraging the girls to try to sell me more unnecessary products. THEN the girl took my card and charged it before telling me my total! And then told me everything is nonrefundable! I was furious. Complete scam. read more

I think the staff here are as good as they get. Hard working, nice and good listeners. I've asked them to not try and sell me anything (hey, it's their job) and they stopped which I really appreciated. One of the staff members even insisted on walking to me to my car when it was raining and had no umbrella (and I'm not THAT old). I'm literally sitting at Palm Beach Tan Yelping about how terrible this place is. My husband and I came here on Saturday 3/15 to purchase spray tans for our cruise in the Caribbean. It took a full hour just for the two of us to get a spray tan. It was a Saturday and they only had two employees and one was a trainee. We sort of lucked out by getting there before other customers, but there was a line of 6+ people behind us that hadn't even been helped. One girl who had already been helped sat and waited for a clean bed for 15 minutes. Once we finally signed up after about 40 minutes, I was sent to the spray tanning booth. I was given directions, etc. and she told me the booth would turn on. Well... The booth never turned on. I had to go back out to the front and tell them this. Got back into the room and the same thing happened again!!! So then, I was moved to another booth because that ended up being broken. Got in there... Booth never turned on. As I get ready to open the door after getting dressed again for the 3rd time.. The employee knocks on the door to tell me she never turned on the booth. As I let this all go on my first visit, I thought maybe because the trainee was there and it was making everything much more difficult, I let it all go. Now.. Here I am for my 2nd visit. The "trainee" is here again and as I walk in, the trainee decides to finish up her conversation with her friend right in front of me. She continued her conversation with her friend... tells her friend she will come over to take care of her dog after the procedure as well as hang out. I felt like I didnt matter at that point. Once I was acknowledge, I told her what I wanted to do. Another girl came up and tried to upsell me on lotion; I immediately told her know"No, Im not interested in buying anything," so she proceeds to tell me I can try a sample, so I say sure, whatever so they would stop. Under the assumption the sample was free... Im told its $7.50 for this sample after I blatantly said I did not want to spend money. After that obnoxious fiasco, Im told to go to room 19... Get there... Not even clean. Im so over this place and VERY VERY unsatisfied about my entire experience. The only person that was aware of anything was Skye. She was very friendly and very knowledgeable. Otherwise, I dont think I can ever return. read more
