I don't know why we have never been to this restaurant before!! We visited a couple of weeks ago and were blown away by the atmosphere and the food! So, we went again tonight and brought guests. The menu selection is phenomenal, and the prices are really fair for what you get. They have a weekday special for $17 to $19. The first time we went we had the Hawaiian Sunrise with ham, pineapple, roasted cashews, sundried cranberries, mozzarella and cheddar cheeses. It was excellent! Tonight, we had Molly's. It had roasted chicken, baby spinach, fresh roma tomatoes, oregano, sesame seeds, virgin olive oil, mozzarella & feta cheese. And a Meat & Cheese deluxe...the name says it all. Both were fantastic! They have so many different pizzas and a wide variety of other options and specials. The beer was good & cold and the wine was good (so our daughter said...I don't care for red wine). We eat here often and today when we arrived at 1:10 pm for lunch; I am disappointed that there were 6 tables had dirty dishes on them. There were employees standing around chitchatting and not cleaning anything. During our meal someone cleaned 1 table then a few minutes later clean another. It's 2 pm there are still 3 tables that have been ignored. I asked a young lady who was glued to her phone if she worked there, she did but told me she wasn't clocked in. I suggested to find someone to finish cleaning the other tables. No one wants to dine in a dirty environment; neither do they want to see workers glued to their phones or standing around talking. I usually leave a tip but today I did not. This Palio needs more training and people who want to work. The food was good as always so let's keep it clean. read more

The cheese seems to be a bit off or maybe just me having an off day because it was not the best but I would still go eat there

So I went bear with my daughter and my grandchildren. I was the first to order and I told the lady at the register three different times what I wanted on my order. In addition, my daughter ordered her items as well. I was the one who paid for everything in the end she had brought everybody's meal but mine. My son-in-law asked me did I not order anything and I said yes. I repeated myself what I had told her I wanted and instead of providing Customer Service or apologizing for not getting my order she had an attitude towards me. ok even left a tip in the beginning after I paid for the meals. I was appalled at the very beginning from her demeanor and her attitude towards me. We have lived in the same apartment for 4 years and have seen restaurants pop up all along Western Center Blvd. But for some reason, when Palio's came to town we were a bit hesitant to try. Perhaps the name threw us off, we don't normally try new pizza joints, after all it's Texas and there's so many bbq and chicken spots to try! When I went there, I believe the place was empty. I picked up my to go order of pasta Arriabata and tiramisu. The customer server could use some work, it makes a difference when you smile. I was randomly in the mood for a good pie this evening and wanted to give this place a shot. We ordered delivery and it arrived in prompt timing. I got two small pizzas. I wasn't sure the size of them as it wasn't listed when ordering. I got a specialty veggie pizza and asked for extra sauce and added Feta. It was very good! Not saucy at all unfortunately but even then I couldn't complain. Love how they use real slices of tomato and totally loaded the veggies and feta. The second pizza was the scorching gourmet. Customer service was non existent. We ordered when no one else was in the store. A couple came in 5 min or so after we were seated. They were served their salads 10 min before ours arrived. When I mentioned it I got a sparky "I didn't know". Same girl brought our food. She didn't say a word. She flipped her hair and walked away. My calzone order was wrong. I ordered pepperoni mushrooms and olives but I got some kind of sausage. The calzone was burnt. The pizza was like cardboard. The sandwich was the worst. Our first visit to this post-Italian pizza place was a mixed bag of average and good wrapped up in a concept that seemed indecisive about what it wants to be. I've been eyeing this place as it's been under construction for a couple months, ever since I saw "On Tap" on the sign. Wary of the frivolous use of "tap room" among restaurants that fail to deliver a serviceable craft offering, I was happy to see that Palio's On Tap actually had roughly 10 solid beer selections. It seems that Americanized Italian food has come to the place where there is no need to nod to the Italian in the cuisine in the least. The interior of Palios is clean, spacious and nicely lit, with a fake fire in one corner (kinda cheesy, no pun [sic]). The only booths were inside an enclosed room. Everywhere else is chairs and tables. The odd part to me was the decor is more Texas barnyard, like might be found in a bed and breakfast in Cleburne, than I expect in an urban pizza joint. Distressed stenciled signs, western wrought iron art, and barn paintings lace the walls. The music was a continuous playlist of David Sandborn styled smooth jazz, like being on hold with the bank call center. Just. No. Way better would be a John Mayer/Ed Sheeran vein, or a 70s or 80s light rock playlist. Or play some modern pop-country (ala Florida Georgia Line, etc.). With all this, why name it an Italian name? How about Texas Bred Pizza Oven, or whatever. This may seem like a nit, but we literally kept coming back to how weird the music was, mixed with the decor, and the Cici's style thin crust pizza, whenever there was a lull in our conversation. But, we are definitely music, art, and architecture people and this may not bother others. This growing chain would suggest it doesn't! As it was unseasonably cool outside, we chose to sit on the patio. The lights were off an hour before close and it took a minute for the staff to figure out how to turn them on for us. No big deal, the store is new. Soft string lighting provided a gentle amber glow on the small space. Maybe 60 seconds after we sat down, the kitchen door that opens onto the patio swung wide, flooding the patio with a harsh fluorescent white as trash guy lugging three large garbage bags lumbered out onto the patio. He loudly kicked the gate open to haul them off into the darkness towards a dumpster. New store, so maybe they thought we weren't out there. But, yuck. So, we moved inside. We ordered the Spinach Artichoke dip app and a medium pizza to split, half Scorcher and half Meat & Cheese Deluxe. I went with a pint of Blood & Honey, always a Texas pleaser, and she a fountain drink. The appetizer came first and was surprisingly large. The dip was ample and flavorful, if a bit runny for me, like a thin Alfredo consistency. The dipping bread was actually a full small pizza-sized cheese bread. It was warm, soft, and fresh, brushed with a garlic butter olive oil mixture. It was quite good and enough to fill us up by itself. The pizza was thin crust and sliced in squares like Cici's, making it awkward to eat without a fork. Some slices were tiny with little toppings on them. A round pie needs to be sliced through the center, in my humble opinion. The Meat & Cheese Deluxe was long on meat, but short on cheese. The Scorcher side had more cheese than the side with "cheese" in the title. Flavor was passable without being memorable. I may have been ruined by my New York and San Francisco pizza experiences. But, calling this "gourmet" may be good marketing, not so much backed by the flavor. Also, the pizza ($13.79) was easily the same size as the appetizer ($6.99). Between the two dishes, we still took leftovers with us. So, I can't say that quantity was insufficient. But, if we come back I might just get the appetizer. The staff was really great, friendly, explaining everything, accommodating to new customers, giving us time to digest the menu. High marks for service. But, the concept feels muddled to me. It's Italian, western, AND jazzy. This is a brand new store in an apparently successful chain with 28 locations. So, it's obviously working for others. Happy success to them. I prefer a more authentic Italian (or at least classic American Italian) cuisine and atmosphere. read more

I was craving pizza the other night and really didn't want it from a chain restaurant. Luckily for me a new pizza joint opened up about 2 miles from house and I'm so glad I tried it! I called 30 mintues before they closed and they still took my order (that's a plus in my book). I tried the antipasta salad, the king pizza, and tiramisu for dessert. I was very pleased with all my choices. I will be returning in the near future for a dine-in experience. The menu has a lot reasons for another visit; pizza, pasta, and salads. This is the best Palio's location and actually the best pizza that I have had in Texas (and I have tried a lot of pizzas here in 8 years)! I have been to the Grapevine and Colleyville Palio's locations and they must not be using the same recipes as this location. The pizza here is always good and I'm sure I've had it at least 15 times now. The ultimate test was bringing a pizza to my mom who has been unhappy with the pizza situation in Texas for the past 3 years since moving from the Chicago area, and she approved and said this Palio's makes good pizza! I always get the lunch special with a personal pizza, side salad, and drink. It's a steal at about $10. The crust is not thin but not thick, it's not crispy or soggy, it's just right. They don't use spicy pepperonis (I hate it when pizza places spicy me and don't warn people about their pepperoni!) and they use fresh mushrooms. A pizza seems like a simple recipe but what makes it special is usually the sauce and the crust. This Palio's does both right. The side salad is a nice touch but I usually don't eat it. It looks fresh and green though! You can order online and pick up or get delivery. You can also dine in. The restaurant is very nice, super clean, and has a patio. You order your food and pay at the register and choose your seat. This is my go to pizza place, even if I have to drive 20 minutes to get it. read more
