He was super pleasant on the phone addressing my concerns because I am 32 weeks pregnant. I called Monday and was seen by Wednesday with Dr. Newman. The woman Kim I spoke to on the phone was super pleasant, even told me its possible to love my second child :) I also spoke with Taylor, who was also super pleasant, so I was feeling good about coming in to a place I've never been before. Martha the assistant was, you guessed it, super pleasant as well. She helped alongside Dr. Newman for my root canal therapy which surprisingly I felt no pain at all. I hate needles and pain, and I would go back again and again for any endodontic needs. (whatever that means, ill just go back.) Dr. Newman explained everything he was doing and that I was in control of the procedure - if I needed any breaks from bathroom needs to pain to switching positions because of the pregnancy to just raise my hand and let him know. I think I could go on and on about this place, but it was a wonderful experience. Everyone I came in contact with was super nice and I appreciate it so much.

Worst dental experience of my life, very dismissive, and overly cash conscious. Gentle Endodontic…read moreSpecialists (GES) was one of two locations my dentist referred me for a root canal. He explained that this would be a difficult task because of the tooth already being cracked. Based upon reviews I selected GES. My initial meeting was fine, but unusual. Before I could see the doctor I had to pay my co-pay. No worries. Then he needed to do a test that my insurance denied. Again, no worries. Bill me. Nope. They literally, not figuratively, brought a portable credit card machine to me while I was reclined in the dental chair and pay or be gone. I paid. The Dr. explained exactly what my dentist had said; that this would be a difficult procedure but he felt confident he could do it. I liked him. He had a nice manner as many of the reviews had noted. I agreed to have the root canal a few days later. I arrived for my procedure 15 minutes early. I was checked in and immediately required to pay the difference between what the Dr. charged and what my insurance paid. Not billed but paid on the spot. And it was a lot. I paid. I got right in on time, given novocaine, and told we would start in about 10 minutes. Very normal. I could see the Dr. through the doorway sitting at a computer. A few minutes in I began to cough. He heard me, stopped to see if I was Ok. And again I was told any minute now. But now never came for me. After waiting for 35 minutes I could feel the novocaine beginning to wear off slightly. No Dr. or Asst. was in sight, and none had checked in on me. I decided to leave. Upon reaching the lobby an Asst. stopped me. Where are you going? I'm leaving. Why? I am not a priority. Nearby I could see the Dr. with another patient explaining the same test to him I had the previous week. You're next. I don't believe you? IN MY OPINION, I had been forgotten about. I was not a priority. By now the Office Manager could see I was leaving. She approached and asked where I was going. I explained again and asked for a refund. She said insurance had already been billed. I said unbill them (yes, I know that is not a word) and refund me. I was refunded, including my original co-pay which I had to request separately. I have to give them credit for not arguing about this. (I had no issues paying for the test.) Finally, the Dr., who had been watching this going on from a short distance, finished with his patient and came over. He inquired and I explained for the third time that I felt ignored, forgotten, and not a priority. No apology was offered. He said I needed the procedure, had been given the novocaine, and I should stay. He still did not say he was ready. But by this time any confidence I had in him was completely and irrevocably gone. I notified my dentist, in person, about my experience. I also notified my insurance company. Now Yelp. And next BBB. The novocaine has worn off. My tooth hurts. But I feel I made the correct decision for me.

My review is 5 stars on all fronts: Dr. O runs a professional, modern practice with old school warmth and consideration for his patients and their overall experience, not just the surgery itself. The environment is personal, professional and pleasant, as is the entire staff. I celebrate when I find a doctor's office likes this one, as they're more often than not becoming a thing of the past. Dr. O's practice is independent of the big brother Hunterdon Health Network, which has grown to a point that gives me the "get-em-in, get-em-out" feeling. Dr. O's receptionist will treat you as an individual and a patient, not a head of cattle. Should the need arise to return to the oral surgeon for any further work, I would definitely and happily go back to see Dr. O. I can't recommend his services enough.
