Guess what? I have what I need from several places. It may be incredible to believe, but I found turkey and feta elsewhere. Later in the week, when I am in Astoria, I can find a variety of feta in several stores like Meditteranean Foods, Titan, or Euro Market, and I don't even eat it often. Also: Years ago, a manager I have known for a long time refused to give me a refund on an item that was past due, but an older owner's son did.

Place has a very old look to it but that's fine since it's clean. I like that they do whole hot rotisserie chickens here and they have a cold cut section that also does Halal turkey slices and other deli meats. As some of the other reviews have suggested , this place does not do pork so just be aware if that is a priority for you. I find that the halal meats here are overpriced in my opinion. I paid almost 10 bucks for 1lb of ground beef, which would've cost me way less in Jackson Heights (another heavily south Asian neighborhood in Queens). The Al-Safa brand frozen chicken nuggets are also way more expensive here than in Jackson Heights (not to mention it's probably been sitting in their freezer for a long time too). While I'm grateful that we have options in this neighborhood, I really do hope the manager/owner will reconsider their meat prices. Hillside is heavily populated with Muslims, so there's going to be a good demand for affordable halal meat .

The negative portion will be said first that was I can get it out of the way and talk about the good. The produce here, from what I was looking around at, is not the best. Many of the fruits and vegetables that I picked up had little bruises or brown spots on them, even if they were very miniscule, they still were spotted. The positivity of this review all falls on the staff and the rest of the place in general. The staff that I interacted with while I was here was very friendly and even one of them went into the back part of the store to help and see if they could find a couple extra cans of the item I needed. He returned with a smile on his face and a few of the product in his hand for me. The prices are also really nice here and I will be back to this market again next time I am visiting family in the area!

The C-Town on Lefferts Blvd is one the main grocery stores in Kew Gardens and their selections of produce is awful when you consider the price (which is high) and the quality (which is low). The exact opposite is true at Apple Valley, and the abundance and high quality of the produce selections is apparent since that's the first thing you see when you walk in. Apple Valley isn't where you would do your weekly grocery runs or do large scale shopping because the market is small and carries limited items without offering items such as frozen food or meats. If you're stopping in for produce, snacks and cookies, bread, cheese, olive oil, pasta, or coffee...then you are certainly in luck. I actually appreciate that there are no frozen foods or too many unhealthy selections and what you are getting are quality and fresh ingredients. It's wonderful that area residents have access to good wholesome food without having to settle for overly processed or low quality products!
