What a clown show this place is. I say "clown show" because it definitely does not qualify as a…read morehospital. Back in December, I arrived at the Emergency Room here and they didn't even have a gurney to roll me in on. I had to walk in myself. After being examined by the ER doctor they transferred me to the HCA hospital in Ocala (another clown show) where they performed emergency surgery. (Both places are part of the HCA Florida system.) Following my procedure, the surgeon told me to do a post operative follow up with a surgeon at HCA Putnam, whom he knew and had just transferred from HCA Ocala to HCA Putnam. On my way to the appointment I received a call from HCA Putnam telling me that I had to go back to Ocala for the follow up and the reason given was that the surgeon did not practice the type of medicine that I needed. I couldn't believe it. It was only to check if the wound was healing and that there was no infection. Simply looking at the incision and changing the dressing. Somebody tell me if that is the way health care should be administered.

I rushed my husband to the ER after he went completely blind in his left eye January 28th at 1am…read more the ER Dr was great, did cat scans and found out his left artery in his neck was 80% blocked. Said he had a TIA because some plaque had broken off and blocked the blood flow to his eye. His vision came back while we were there. He said he needed a vascular surgeon and Palatka doesn't have one. So he said he was going to get him transferred to a hospital that did. At 5:30 am the nurse comes in and says we are admitting him here. I asked why he wasn't being transferred and she said I don't know, I'm just doing what the Dr ordered. When we got to the room I saw a Dr.s name on the board, I assume a hospital Dr. So someone called and told out primary Dr we were there. He came in, upset that we were there since he needed a vascular surgeon and there wasn't one in Palatka. I noticed they changed the name of the Dr on the board to our primary Dr. Meanwhile I am sitting there in this chair afraid to leave him until the Dr. comes in because he has Alzheimer's, and won't remember what they said. I kept asking when his Dr. would be here. No answer. He was not given any of his meds, they kept saying the Dr. hadn't approved it yet. They did do a MRI early morning that the ER doctor ordered and no one is there at night to do it. I left at 6 pm. No Dr. No meds given. I asked why He couldn't go home if he wasn't seeing a Dr or being given his meds. I can give him meds at home. I was told his primary care Dr. wanted him to stay another night. I came back first thing in the morning hoping to see a DR. No DR. and No meds given. At 11:30 I called our primary Dr. very upset. They kept telling me he was the one not approving anything. I was ready to get rid of him. He came in at lunch, and said we should have had a hospital Dr. that he was not the one who admitted him. He was not happy either. So we asked him to please discharge my husband so he could go home and take his own meds. Our primary care Dr referred us to a vascular surgeon and he is having surgery the 27th of February in Gainesville. So we were there 2 days with no Dr. and the nurses kept telling me they called our primary. Well, funny when I called him he was here 1/2 hour later. I'm just thankful there were no complications with him not taking his meds, and he didn't have another TIA while we were sitting there unattended.
