Revamped ballroom restaurant is a gem. Great view, service and grub. The newly opened upper restaurant is a well appointed open plan style with a mezzanine for those who like to .. watch. Yeah - you know what I mean. Watch the great buffet, the cultured guests groan with with sensations of delight .. yeah that's what were you thinking .. you saucy thing. With a balcony overlooking Semaphore beach (and the white skinned .. function room) you can satisfy your urges and be watched while you indulge. So have you been tempted.. go on, you know you want to.

This review is a little late... We went on Easter Sunday with a large group of 30 people booked in for lunch. We got a modified menus for large groups consisting of a variety of massive share platters. Main was a choice of A burger and chips, A Massive chicken parmy and chips, grilled fish and chips or a vegetarian tart. The share platters are so big and filled with food, the main portions where also large. Hardly anyone in our group of 30 could finish the main. All for the great value of $30 per head. The service was also very good and polite. They have lots of beers on tap with a couple of craft ones. This place is great value for money for group bookings.

The salad tastes like how a freshly mowed lawn smells.

I have been to the Palais a few times, it's great for a casual drink with beach view. I booked a couple of tables at the Beach Bar for my wedding reception. I was going for a relaxed vibe to have drinks, pizzas and listen to music. Those boxes were ticked. I had been arranging this night for months with the events manager. She said she will let the bar staff know about my tab (I had arranged for my guests to have drinks on my tab, the staff would know because I gave my guests wristbands) Well, the staff had NO idea what I was talking about, and I had to explain it twice to the bar staff while my guests were trying to order drinks. The beach bar staff really don't seem happy or willing to help. One server rolled her eyes at me because I asked for take away containers!! I didn't have a private function, but it was my wedding and I do have months of thread emails. Steer clear if you want to dine with a large group of people.

Located in the beach at Semaphore, The Palais is a really popular pub day and night, especially during the warmer months. The Palais is a large white pub over 2 levels with a separate outdoor Beachfront bistro which you can also hire for events. They have live music every Thursday til Sunday, with bands, DJs, MCs and acts playing to a fairly large relaxed crowd. But after a while everyone, especially the oldies, are up dancing. The beer garden is lovely in the sun and nicely decked out with lost of seating, benches and plants etc. The Palais holds many events, including Xmas parties, new years parties and general summer weekend nights with special guests and themes. It's fairly casual because it's located at the beach, but there is security and a dress code, especially for at night, including no ripped jeans, thongs or singlets. This is the best place to hang out in Semaphore for a beer and a burger on a Sunday afternoon.

The beach bar is a lovely relaxed place to grab a bite to eat. It's kid friendly, which makes it great when you have friends with little ones. It's also newly renovated and looks great. The beach bar menu is simple but has plenty on offer. The food is great and the atmosphere is relaxing. Having the ability to get some sea air while out is also a huge plus for me.

Really great for a cheap meal, they have plenty of specials in the ballroom bistro. Mostly self service no frills, but great location. The views are great from the mezzanine level. Food is standard nothing bad to report and big serving sizes. The bar is well stocked but the bartenders are not very knowledgeable. Asked for a house sparkeling white and got "you mean champagne"... at least it was served in the correct glass I guess. Good experiance in general and will be back for the specials.

Sports club atmosphere with good food (if slightly overpriced). Food is standard pub fair with no standouts. Come if your after steaks, schnitzels, fish with chips. Great bar and dining and function area. The view from the mezzanine of the ocean is beautiful.

Such amazing food here!! I hang out all week to eat here on a sunday

Rather Partridge House is a beautiful old community home, originally built in 1899 for a Mrs Elinor Varley. The house is today set amidst stunning gardens and grounds and is used these days predominantly as a venue for weddings. Partridge house can also be hired for all sorts of events and is home to various community groups and organisations. If you're looking at hiring the venue, it will seat 80 people for a sit down function or can take 130 for a cocktail party. Take special note of the fountain in front of the house as a location for you photos. It was donated to the owner by former Adelaide Mayor and state pollie, William Townsend back in 1877. Fast forward a hundred years or so to the early 1970's, in fact around the same time TV's The Partridge Family was making it big, and there was talk of demolishing Partridge House and using the land to establish housing. Thank heavens, the then Glenelg Council decided to buy and restore the historic site instead. The beautiful gardens and grounds are open to the public every day, but the house is closed.

The Morphett Vale Function Centre is an excellent place to go for lunch (or dinner if you want live…read moreentertainment). The prices are incredibly reasonable with lunchtime mains costing from $9 to $14. This means that you could potentially have a three course lunch (including a drink) for $20, which is probably the best price I have come across (this includes the free soup of the day as an entree). They also have a small (but nice) salad bar that has a soup of the day special, small bread rolls, garden salads, potato salads and fresh vegetables (no pasta salad unfortunately but the other salads made up for that). When I went for lunch, I had a lamb shank, it was very tasty and was served with a nice creamy mash potato. Vegetable sides could also be grabbed from the salad and vegetable bar. For $12, the food is around what you expect however is quite pleasant and was seasoned and prepared well. I also had a $6 dessert afterwards, which was an excellent chocolate cake. The cake had incredible flavours and was presented very well. They also have a nice soup of the day available from the salad bar. The soup that was there on the day was very nice, in fact I would go as far as to say one of the best mushroom soup's I have ever had. The staff were also very attentive, easy to talk to and the atmosphere was excellent. I have also been here on a night time where they have the same sort of menu and tried some chicken from their stonegrill menu (this menu is excellent and I would highly recommend it). They also have entertainment on the weekend with a stage and a dining hall. Overall, a good dining experience and the function center remains a great spot for a good feed without opening your wallet too far at all.
