Her defensive customer service approach is the opposite: tell you she's worked there over 6 years (so?) tell you she "doesn't know Dr Higgins schedule one day to the next", tell you it's your fault for not knowing he's got 2 offices and travels, tells you you're rude for asking questions she doesn't like and hanging up on you because she can't manage her own reactivity. Dr Higgins is great and I liked him but due to his unavailability and April's personality issues and lack of customer service skills I'd suggest avoiding this office!

This review has been a long time coming and honestly, I've had a lot of mixed emotion about writing…read moreit because I don't like bashing small businesses, but I feel completely taken advantage of and am saddened at the shady billing practices and integrity of this business. I was in a bad motorcycle accident last summer and started going to Living Well (I'm honestly not even sure how I found them as my memory of last summer is pretty nonexistent) for physical therapy for my knee and a severe head injury that I obtained after being hit. With the severity of the TBI (traumatic brain injury) I was dealing with - I should have been referred elsewhere - to someone who was better equipped and had the resources to help with my head injury. Being that I was pretty out of it most of the summer - I didn't see anything necesarily "wrong" with the treatment I was receiving but I was noticing over time that the "treatment" I was receiving did absolutely nothing for the cognitive issues I was having (and still am). Looking back it was complete negligence on their part. They had me coming in 3x a week for months and I saw little to no progress being made in my cognitive function - yes I was more coherant and I was able to move my neck better than when I first came in (thank you for that) but nothing was done for my severe head injury that would actually warrant me coming in as often as I was - except for of course, to rack up a massive bill that they would later come after me for. I'm going to assume most people aren't informed in all of the technicalities of accidents/insurance and how you are billed in light of these events (I wasn't and they knew this). On your vehicle - you have what's called a PIP policy (personal injury protection), when you are receiving medical treatment post accidents - all of your medical is billed through this policy and everything is 100% covered until your policy runs out, then it is billed through your regular medical insurance. After about the first month or so, the receptionist started to let me know that my insurance wasn't paying them out - which I found odd because they were paying out all of my other visits no problem (chiro and neurology visits). I asked my lawyer to speak with insurance in regard to this, as I was not legally allowed to communicate with them during an open investigation. We finally learned that Living Well only attempted to bill my insurance a few times (I would like to add - based on what we are able to see from my PIP ledger) over the 3.5 months I was receiving treatment and I racked up a $7200 bill - that should have ALL BEEN COVERED through my PIP policy. So when my PIP policy ran out from all the appointments I was going to (about 5-6 a week for all my care providers for months) they started trying to get me to sign paperwork to get a chunk of my settlement money (which the fine print, my lawyer deemed as unreasonable and advised me not to sign). What does this mean for Living Well? They get more money if they wait to bill me directly instead of insurance - about 2x more according to my lawyer. On top of all of this - they sent me a card THANKING me for sending them part of my settlement money - that I deserved to keep after almost having my life taken and months of PTSD that I had to work through. I would NEVER recommend this business to anyone, I am saddened - I really liked Dr. Z, he seemed like a nice guy but I feel sick, I feel completely taken advantage of. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS.

Not knowing any different and in desperate need of relief, I made my first appointment. Not much has changed in the last 12 years. Seems I end up seeing Dr. Ries about every 18 months or so for a session of treatments / adjustments. I am not the kind who makes a career out of weekly visits and one of the things I appreciate about Dr. Ries is that he doesn't push you to become one either! Dr. Ries is a very kind and soft spoken man. Picture Mr. Rogers in a white lab coat. Enough said there. You get the idea. If you are worried about being "man handled" and "manipulated".....won't happen with Dr. Ries. He is very gentle. Very thorough. Very reassuring and patient. So if you are looking for the "aggressive" type, you will be sorely disappointed. One of the things I appreciate most (and took for granted when seeing another chiropractor in Dr. Ries' absence) is his mobile exam / adjustment table. When you are in agony and can barely walk, let alone lie down on a table...this is a God send. Step onto the pads and barely lean forward. Grip the handles and Dr. Ries gently lowers the table to the horizontal position. Aaaaaaah..... When he is done with the treatment, he gently raises you back up. Never appreciated how wonderful that was until I had to visit Dr. Tim Goulart....who is also a very fine doctor.....but oh, that table.....it's what edges Dr. Ries to the five star level and keeps Dr. Tim at four. That being said, both doctors are very fine and I would highly recommend either one. Dr. Ries: Very gentle, kind ...the Mr. Rogers type. AND the table. Dr. Goulart: Also very kind but definitely more aggressive in his approach and no fancy table. I went to Dr. Jim after experiencing low back pain that continued to increase over time. In two weeks my pain was reduced to a manageable level using only the stretches he has taught me along with the adjustments at our visits. Prior to meeting with Dr. Jim I would take at lest 1200 mg of ibuprofen daily. My pain is now down to a level that I don't need any medication to get through the day. Without his help I would still be suffering. Dr. Jim isn't the typical spend 5 minutes with a patient, perform an adjustment, and collect his money type of chiropractor. Dr. Jim is personable and takes the time to discuss your issues and treatment with you. Dr. Jim has always discussed what he's doing and why he's doing it. He teaches you why you are in pain, what you need to do to get better, and how to prevent any further injuries. I've done chiropractic treatment and physical therapy in the past for other issues. Dr. Jim seems to be a mix of both disciplines, which, in my opinion, is the best option for treatment. I highly recommend visiting with him to see if he can help you.

My appointment is at 10:30 and I arrive at what I think is the building at 10:20. It's a large warehouse. You finally park on the street and walk toward the door and it says CrossFit on it. No one is at the counter and I called the number on my confirmation email and no one answers. It goes straight to voicemail. I leave a message and still have no help at the counter. Dr Jim calls me ten minutes later and says he was with a patient and he wants to touch base but when I begin telling him how uncomfortable I was at the facility that didn't even have chiropractic on it he says rudely "I know I listened to your voicemail goodbye" No staff to help him and no signage, how are customers to know what to do? Find a name that is your own and hire someone to be at the front and answer your phone. Just my advise.
