My parents were living in an apartment in the independent living facility for 10 years when my father finally had to be moved to the Goldenberg-Ziman Special Care Center due to his dementia progressing to a point that required more attentive care. From the beginning, my mother, who is a retired nurse, realized that the care that was being provided the residents there was extremely lacking, even bordering on neglect, with mistakes being made frequently, such as with his medications. For example, my father is very unstable on his feet, so at night he urinates into plastic bottles so he doesn't have to walk to the bathroom. When my mom would show up mid-morning to visit him, she could see that the urinals still had not been emptied. She would complain to the staff, but nothing changed, and she eventually just started showing up earlier in the morning and taking care of it herself. Another example was that the "showers" that my dad received were basically someone splashing him down with water for a few minutes, then toweling him off. These are just a few examples of the lack of attentiveness and incompetence on the part of the staff. Eventually, my mom began showing up earlier and staying later in order to take care of my dad's needs, even going to all of his meals with him because of the constant errors that were being made with his dietary protocol. As my mother's presence there became a fixture, and after numerous instruction and reminders given to the staff, the care eventually started to improve. However, not so for the other residents, the majority of which didn't have family with a medical background who could advocate for them there and constantly keep tabs on things. Approximately two months into my dad's stay, my mom fell and broke her hip and ended up in the hospital, leaving my dad on his own for the first time since he enter the facility. Though my sister and I tried to visit as much as possible in order to try to take over for my mom, it was impossible for us. And just as we feared, his care completely eroded: he ended up falling and was sent to the ER; his diaper would hardly ever be changed and he would be sitting in a wet diaper often; my mom used to do his laundry, and even though we explained to them that this was no longer going to be the case since she was injured, we could never get them to start doing his laundry despite repeated attempts (ironically, some of his clothes started disappearing and when we complained, it was discovered they were mistakenly taken to the laundry). Eventually, my sister just resigned herself to doing his laundry herself. And these are just some of the examples. We started complaining about this to some of the people in charge. For example, I spoke to the supervising nurse, Louisa. She was completely unsympathetic and even responded in a somewhat hostile and passive aggressive way. At one point, she suggested that this facility may not be the right fit for us and that we may want to explore other options. This was an insult, as my parents made a huge effort to move into Fountain View 10 years ago with the expectation that when this time came, they would be well taken care of. Being that I wasn't getting anywhere with Louisa, I asked for a meeting with her superiors. And while the meeting went fairly well, and everyone seemed understanding and sympathetic to our complaints, nothing really changed. They, however mysteriously, were able to produce his missing clothes at the meeting. All that said, we are tremendously disappointed in the quality of care at the Goldenberg-Ziman Special Care Center that is on the campus of Eisenberg Village in Reseda.

It is for anyone and everyone who needs special care in whatever their condition is. I have been here multiple times back in 2019-2021 when my late mother in law was at this facility. I would go there around 5pm when it was their dinner time. Feed her, try to talk to her and spend one on one time with her.She had Alzheimer's disease. I believe they have 4 different buildings and plenty of parking spaces along with clean restrooms. This facility was established back in 1912 and still serves their patients, families of the patients with pride, dignity, and kindness. They have over 6,000 seniors every year entering this facility. They even have a nice garden. They provide care for home, in their community and on premises/campuses. Nurses and other staff members are very sweet, kind, caring, professional and HELPFUL!! They don't just treat you as a number; but as a human. Recently few days ago I willingly wanted to go see one of my friend's mom who is in this care center. She has dementia. I told her that I would be going there and she met me there. Place is spotless clean, they come and change the bed sheets pretty frequently, take you for a walk, help you to take your medications, and do their best for everyone to feel welcomed, safe and a good place to be at! If you have a loved one and needs a good home, don't hesitate to bring them to this facility.10/10. Thank you all for all that you do for everyone. They accept insurance, and other types of medical payments..

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS FACILITY!!!…read more I work near this facility and personally know several seniors who live here. Based on direct knowledge and firsthand accounts, I have serious concerns about how residents are being treated. One resident I know personally was not properly cared for after a fall. After that incident, she was reportedly not assisted with meals or monitored to ensure she ate for three days. Her room has flooded twice, and because of how often this happens, it reportedly smells of mold, which raises serious health concerns. After the second flood, she was abruptly dismissed from her room so it could be cleaned and was not allowed to gather her phone, shoes, or any personal belongings. She was sent out in the middle of December wearing only sandals and no sweater. This showed a complete lack of concern for her safety, comfort, or dignity. What is most disturbing is the lack of empathy. This is a facility entrusted with the care of vulnerable seniors, yet the focus appears to be convenience and profit rather than basic human compassion. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS FACILITY!!!! Please choose another place. No one's loved one deserves to be treated this way.

The staff here is amazing, they don't just do their jobs (and they do them well) they are all very kind, supportive and loving toward her. This is a woman who would not leave her apartment, slept until noon, getting her to get dressed was a big task but her nature is social. She was famous in her youth and a singer / dancer. I could not believe that she was up and out of her room (DRESSED) by 8am and didn't return until after 5PM on day 2. EVERY SINGLE DAY she is kept active, she's singing with the pianist, playing bingo, watching movies, doing arts and crafts AND they told me she was participating in the morning walk! One of the ladies there sent me a video of her singing with the pianist today - she is in her element. Her Doctor comes to her every month (more if she needed him). I was weary that they would not be able to get her out of her room and get her dressed. AvantGarde has surpassed my expectations. I can travel without worry, I can visit her without me being the caretaker, I can rest easy knowing she is having a great time and in loving, capable hands.

She ran out of days for nursing care and so we looked at a few board and care facilities. We chose Nestle Place. Well, since she has been at Nestle, she has completely recovered from all those illnesses! The very clean, caring and friendly atmosphere has been amazing. The owners Aren and Anna, are so wonderful. They create a very welcoming place for people to stay. They manage all the home health care and the meds for my mom. They follow all the safety protocols and state guidelines. The food is fresh and tasty. The house is extremely clean. The staff are caring and attentive. And frankly, since their pricing is so good it has allowed us to have my mom there longer. Which has helped since both my husband and I work which makes it hard to care for elderly parents. Whether you are needing short term recovery care, or long term, or hospice, I feel comfortable recommending Nestle Place. It's a wonderful assisted living facility.

We used a placement service that identified JH for us. We had several tours of other homes that were all in the same Valley area, and all around the same cost. What immediately stood out were the owners and the team on site. All friendly, caring, truly kind people. Andrei, who gave us our tour, was friendly, so knowledgeable and totally honest. He even brought up previous ownership issues the facility had faced and other issues that as a business owner, he had learned through and made specific improvements to address any issues. The care team that is on site is just amazing. They cook all meals in the kitchens right there so you know your family member will be getting home cooked meals that are nutritious and delicious (do NOT visit during meal prep time or you WILL want a plate!) These ladies bring a smile to Mom's face when they engage and I can tell just how much Mom has enjoyed getting to know them. The facility is also lovely. There is ample space with really nicely sized private rooms and bathrooms. The homes are in lovely garden surroundings and I'm pretty sure Jackie's Hideaway has turned my Mom into a bird watcher!!! While touring facilities in searching for a spot, Jackie's Hideaway was the only location that didn't focus on the glitz and window dressing of the facility. At one spot, the owner only focused on how expensive all of the decor was and how my Mom would be surrounded with luxury. I needed my mom to be surrounded by care and people who were going to be there to help her and not let her worry for a single thing. My mom chooses to hang in her room, but other residents are usually in the TV room or enjoying the garden when it isn't too hot outside. This freedom to do what makes you most happy...as odd as it sounds...is a big plus in these types of facilities. Many spots do what is most convenient for the staff...NOT for the residents. Jackie's Hideaway does not take that route. We are SO thankful we found Jackie's Hideaway and know that their care has lifted anxiety and worry from Mom...and from us. We hope to be a long-term success story!!!
