Unlike the other place, Be Well is a beautiful, exceptionally clean home with the most outstanding caregivers I've ever met. My mom has her own private room and bathroom, and the neighborhood is absolutely charming. From day one, Russ and Alina have been truly caring and made the transition as smooth as possible for both my mom and my brothers and me. At the "fancy" place, we dreaded every phone call because it was always another problem, another issue, another source of stress. At Be Well, it's the opposite--they call to share how well she's doing, not to create anxiety. I no longer live in constant worry. In the beginning, the transition was a little challenging--mom was confused and needed time to adjust. But caregiver Lisa, along with the rest of the team, showed such incredible patience and compassion, making the move peaceful for her. Now my mom absolutely loves it there, especially Lisa. Our entire family's quality of life has improved since placing our mom at Be Well. I finally feel like she is safe, happy, and truly cared for. I only wish we had found them sooner.

Walnut Gardens was very supportive of family members. We were free to come and visit whenever we wanted and for as long as we wanted. I was always treated with respect and was given updates on my mother's condition. The senior staff member also texted me when necessary with information. The house is cleaned thoroughly every week. It is a bright and airy home with a sun room dining area and a pleasant backyard. They decorate for all of the holidays to add to the cheeriness. They also have activities with specialists coming in to lead games and music. Of special note is Mr. Al who brings his guitar and leads sing-a-longs once a week. The birthdays of residents are always celebrated with little parties and many family members. It is not just me who was impressed with Walnut Gardens. Every Kaiser nurse, home health aide, and even the doctor commented this was the nicest place they visited among the many they know. I considered that high praise from professionals. If you are looking for a place for your parent or relative, I strongly recommend you visit and consider Walnut Gardens. The food was often unappetizing, bland, cold to bad. While the medical care was five-star, the dining experience could use significant improvement. Overall, I highly recommend Sherman Oaks Rehab for its excellent rehabilitation services and dedicated staff. It's been almost 7-months since we moved my mom into Belmont and she's finally adjusting thanks to the team. My mom has dementia and it has been such an emotional rollercoaster finding the right place for her. The team at Belmont (Kate, one of the directors), the pals, Lynnell, Linda, Lydia, Jeffrey, Olga have helped my mom adjust and also rode the emotional waves I have gone thru putting my mom in SL. My mom and I are best friends, so I was so scared to place her somewhere, these guys couldn't be better. We go all hours day and night to visit. It took her awhile to make friends but now that she has she looks forward to the daily events and weekly trips. I think Carmen (one of the cleaning staff) does a terrific job. As far as my mom's room being clean it's really hard to keep up with her. With her dementia there is often clothes all over the place and food on the floor. It's impossible to keep up with her. Belmont is great at trying, and the residents are all very clean. Second thing, is there enough staffing? Yes, in the 8 months my mom has been a resident of Belmont I've seen a huge improvement. They have added a lot of staff. Lance the director has made a big push to hire new people and it's made a big difference. I do think this was one area Belmont needed to improve on and they have. The Community Director Jonathan gave us a tour and was treated by the residents like an adored rock star as we walked through the halls - making introductions with residents, explaining the extensive amenities, along with the robust calendar of daily activities for residents to participate in. We moved her in a week later (after visiting other facilities). Within 2 weeks she told me "I'm meeting so many interesting residents. It's like living in a resort, everything is done for you. I love it here!" Last night I got a text from her saying that she attended a mini classical concert in one of the residents rooms (that resident is known for her musical talents).
