Good Ambience and South Indian street food. We are very close to the area and enjoy the food once in a while.

"Nepalese and Indian food in downtown Raleigh, near Marriott"…read more With a great location, this is VERY close to the Raleigh Convention Center. We arrived on a Thursday night at 6pm with a group of 5. The dining area didn't really accommodate a group that size, but they made it work by moving tables around, which was nice. The place was not very large, but there was maybe only one other family eating inside. The bathroom was clean. I split two dishes with my son-- salmon tikka masala and shrimp (prawn) saag, both coming with rice. We were given some papadum, I think, as a snack as we waited on the food, along with some spicy dips. Food came in maybe 10 minutes or so, which was great timing. However, I have to say, both dishes we tried were underwhelming. The shrimp was oddly translucent and not very flavorful in its dish, and the spinach in the saag wasn't especially tasty (though it did have a nice spiciness). The tikka masala sauce was great, but the salmon also was pretty underwhelming. We both said we'd probably just get chicken next time and not splurge the extra for the salmon. No dish was "bad", but just we expected them to be delicious and they were just OK. I'm just really surprised given how many people said this was the "best Indian" they'd had. The staff were friendly-- refilled drinks well and were good at answering questions. And the price was reasonable. Altogether, I'll give it 4 stars given the great location, good service, good price, but not 5 given the food was "just OK". Realistically, I probably wouldn't go back-- we have lots of great Indian in Durham and Chapel Hill, so I'd rather wait and get that.

Every dish I've tried has been consistently good, but the mango lime chicken deserves a special shoutout! What really keeps me coming back, though, is the value. Their lunch special (not pictured) is an absolute steal and one of the best deals around if you want high-quality Indian food without committing to a full dinner spread. Even my mother who never had Indian was a big fan of the lunch special! Service is friendly, flavors are reliable, and the menu delivers comfort with just enough polish. Whether you're new to Indian food or already a fan, Lime & Lemon is a go-to spot that never disappoints.

I had missed this on the menu, but my dosa with spiced powder inside did not come with potatoes or anything; it still was a nice flavor but not as substantive as I was hoping for the price. Thankfully, I did get a mango lime tofu dish that was bursting with flavor and also very filling, as well as a bread on the side that underwhelmed and didn't have much of the spiced potatoes as advertised (what do you have to do to get potatoes in your food here?). Overall, a nice location, but the food was a bit mixed in quality and not quite what I'd hoped for at the price. Particularly when one considers how many Indian restaurants there are around here. I could imagine them doing better on a different order; the other Lime and Lemon I went to was quite ncie.

For apps we got Gobi Manchurian and the Afghani paneer and tikka masala paneer as well. The Gobi Manchurian was good had a bit of a BBQ sauce flavor to it but the spice was good and the Afghani paneer was delicious! For entrees we got the punjabi palak paneer and the malai kofta and paneer tikka and various naans and rotis. Everything was off the chain delicious. I do wish some dishes were a bit spicier but overall it was great. The service was amazing I loved that they had water bottles on the tables and you fill it up as you please. It is a fairly formal place! Parking is right beside the restaurant!

If you're looking for Indian food in Raleigh that delivers on both flavor and overall experience,…read moreSoul Flavorscapes of India is an easy recommendation. This is a 5-star restaurant, but not in a formal, special-occasion sense. It's a more approachable kind of 5: thoughtful, well-executed, and genuinely enjoyable. The kind of place you can go for a relaxed dinner or to host friends from out of town, and still feel confident in the quality of the experience. I went with my husband and a family friend who was visiting, and it was a great setting for catching up. The ambiance strikes a nice balance between polished and comfortable. I especially liked the rich blue tones inside and the overhead lanterns, which give the space a warm, inviting feel. There's also a outdoor patio, though at 96 degrees, we opted to sit inside. I'll admit I didn't do a great job capturing photos, but everything we ordered was excellent. We started with samosas, veg pakora, and beet cutlets (which my husband hadn't had since moving to the U.S. for grad school over a decade ago). We also ordered a mango lassi, the bread basket, malai kofta, balti chicken, and lamb biryani. A few highlights: Portions are generous The spice levels are accurate "medium" and "medium hot" both had a noticeable level of heat, which isn't always the case locally The lamb biryani stood out (my husband said it's the best biriyani he's had in North Carolina) Service was also great. The owner stopped by our table multiple times and was warm and engaging. She even shared how to make a strawberry lassi with our friend, which was a thoughtful touch. One practical note: the restaurant is downtown, and there's a surface parking lot directly next to it that uses ParkMobile, which makes parking straightforward. We're already planning to return.

I set that aside and tried to avoid the moisture on the napkin my silverware was wrapped in. When I went to get food, most of it was covered which I guess is good, but to get to the food, it was awkward balancing the covers or having to place them on another covered tray to be able to serve myself. When I compare the food and environment here to other places that offer Indian cuisine buffets, for the $20 with tax I'd rather go to Kabab and Curry not too far from here on Hillsborough St. There is more food available, it is fresher, the environment overall seems more hygienic and well-organized, and the food has better flavor and seems less greasy at Kabab and Curry. The only difference is having to pay for parking or parking a bit further away for a free spot--but for what you pay at Curry Club and they only offer buffet over the weekend, Kabab and Curry is better and offers more value and is where I will probably go from now on. The only way Curry Club's buffet would make sense is if they brought the price down. I'd put their food quality about on par with China Queen's weekday Chinese buffet, but China Queen has the better sense to charge less for the quality and experience they offer their customers. If you're already in the plaza and it's convenient to drop in over the weekend, give Curry Club a try, but if you can make it a little further north, Kabab and Curry is the better place. It is worth noting that Curry Club has interesting theme days and specials that may offer more value and culinary enjoyment than what I was able to experience while I was there including weekend breakfast combos, and weeknight dosa, biryani, and rice deals. They also have momos and spring rolls that look delicious (though I can't vouch yet). They stock authentic items like frozen Shahi Kulfi (not included in the buffet), and beverages like Delhi Darling, Thumsup, and Limca. If I go back, it'll be to sample dosas at Dosa Night or see what I think about the momos and spring rolls. I'll update when and if I find out and get to sample more.

There were so many great sounding options, but I hadn't had Indian food in a while, and Butter Chicken just sounded like it would hit the spot. The ordering is all done though a kiosk, which was easy, but just a little less personable. Once payment put in, they give you a "pager" so you can find a seat, and wait for the "page". The food didn't take too long, and my Butter Chicken tasted great. The portions were decent, and pricing ok. I wanted to get some garlic naan to go with it, but $4 seemed a bit excessive for one piece of flat bread, so i passed on that. Overall, it was a good experience, but very minimal customer service/interactions, made the whole thing feel a bit mechanical.
