Our class turned out to be small, which is probably a good thing. There is only one sink so clean up could take a while with a large class. It's a bit pricy but what isn't these days. Our instructor is super nice and very patient. We have no experience so we need lots of instruction. He's kind and gentle in the ways he instructs. He doesn't make you feel bad when you totally mess up. He's also good at giving you encouragement along the way. The first class was all about form and how to work the wheel and clay. I'll try and update my review with pics once we actually make something that we are keeping. There was plenty of free street parking.

I was looking for something off my beaten path to do with my daughter who is an incredible artist - I discovered their offering of a workshop/class for two hours on a Friday night to paint chickadees. Painting and drawing has been a challenge for me but this place seemed approachable and friendly. Suzy greeted us and made us feel very welcome. Shawn was the teacher and I really got a lot out of the class. The instructions were very clear and the supplies were explained and plentiful. Participants who wanted additional guidance received it and everyone's creative needs for the project seemed to get met. This was a great experience - very affordable and non judge mental approach to painting. I had a lot of fun and learned how to change my approach to painting because of this workshop. My daughter who is a very courageous painter with a lot of experience enjoyed the class and was inspired. I didn't complete my painting - but that's ok! Everyone else in the class did - there's enough time to finish your work I'm just slow...took my painting with me with my leftover paints in a bag Suzy gave me to finish back home. Hope I can make it back there for another workshop or maybe even their daytime offerings. This place is worth checking out!

Hands down my favorite part of my recent trip to Savannah…read more I had signed up originally to do a couples' event, and well, wound up just going solo at the last minute. Anyway, they mention it on the website, but I feel you should know that if you change your mind about what exactly you want to make, they tend to be very flexible about this. I was able to change my selection no issue. The couples' event consisted of two glasses, and well, I changed my mind and made a glass, as well as a little baby pumpkin. Now before you get started, they make you sign a safety waiver and they give you some instructions as to what will be going on. If you get overwhelmed, don't fret because they make this so simple that a child could do it. Heck, children have gone there and had their fun. At least with Caleb, the instructor that I had, this was a seamless process. Caleb was a real gem and somehow I managed to get him to myself. An oddity in itself, but I went on a Saturday afternoon at 2 PM. I suppose most people were at brunch. It was the later evening slots that were busy. Just something to keep in mind if you're like me and get overwhelmed with groups of people. That said, it seems they cap these events at maybe a dozen people or so. Nothing crazy. This isn't the 30ish people you see at your typical painting class. At any rate, once the pieces are done, you need to wait 24 hours to get them. You can either pick them or have them shipped to your house. I chose the latter. Shipping for me was $35 and they came to me exactly one week later. Brandon, who I believe is the owner, texted me with the tracking number. From beginning to end, this was a legit joy. Oh, and did I mention that the pieces turned out beautiful? I'm dying to display them. Otherwise, Caleb provided me with many recommendations for my time in Savannah, including a restaurant I loved. You best believe I will do this again when I return to Savannah. Glassblowing is definitely not something you see everywhere. In fact, if memory serves me correctly, I think Caleb said around 300 people were still instructing this art. Who knew?

They allow you to bring your own catering and there were several stations and tables set up with different crafts. Depending on the size of your party, parking may be an issue to keep in mind. I've gone here twice now, once for a private event and again just this past week so I've been able to make two items here. I've made the lazy Susan and the chunky knit blanket. Both experiences were far beyond what I thought they would be. Again the staff is so incredible and a lot are SCAD students with all different outlooks on art. The experience both times was very personable and all around a fun time. I will 100% be coming back to AR Workshop. The owner was actually telling me they've set up some cool $10/$15 projects for walk ins and that's right up my alley! Affordable and fun! I can't wait to come back and share more experiences with the yelp community.

Come 'on, don't be lazy--sanitize the stuff that's been moved when you put it back... why else have so many staff working? That's fairly standard. Layout is hard to keep track of more than one kid at a time and they also ask you stick with your kid the entire time... HOW??? There's not a central spot you can stand and see both kids at the same time. Oh, and much of the toys they sell are at kid height and way more expensive there than on Amazon.com.
