Hands down my favorite part of my recent trip to Savannah. I had signed up originally to do a couples' event, and well, wound up just going solo at the last minute. Anyway, they mention it on the website, but I feel you should know that if you change your mind about what exactly you want to make, they tend to be very flexible about this. I was able to change my selection no issue. The couples' event consisted of two glasses, and well, I changed my mind and made a glass, as well as a little baby pumpkin. Now before you get started, they make you sign a safety waiver and they give you some instructions as to what will be going on. If you get overwhelmed, don't fret because they make this so simple that a child could do it. Heck, children have gone there and had their fun. At least with Caleb, the instructor that I had, this was a seamless process. Caleb was a real gem and somehow I managed to get him to myself. An oddity in itself, but I went on a Saturday afternoon at 2 PM. I suppose most people were at brunch. It was the later evening slots that were busy. Just something to keep in mind if you're like me and get overwhelmed with groups of people. That said, it seems they cap these events at maybe a dozen people or so. Nothing crazy. This isn't the 30ish people you see at your typical painting class. At any rate, once the pieces are done, you need to wait 24 hours to get them. You can either pick them or have them shipped to your house. I chose the latter. Shipping for me was $35 and they came to me exactly one week later. Brandon, who I believe is the owner, texted me with the tracking number. From beginning to end, this was a legit joy. Oh, and did I mention that the pieces turned out beautiful? I'm dying to display them. Otherwise, Caleb provided me with many recommendations for my time in Savannah, including a restaurant I loved. You best believe I will do this again when I return to Savannah. Glassblowing is definitely not something you see everywhere. In fact, if memory serves me correctly, I think Caleb said around 300 people were still instructing this art. Who knew? read more

Ok this place is a riot! I took a group of ladies on girls night out and we all agreed it was one of the best things we've ever done. The owner used to blow glass at Disney so he knew how to handle all of us with patience and humor. We all made very different things so it was not a cookie cutter experience. Vibe: The coolest compact studio- easy to find, just look for the white building on the corner with the red door! The studio is part hot shop and part store. Brandon has completely renovated this cool studio and offers a variety of classes and blown art to purchase. Experience: Super easy to set up and choose a class to do online. The system he uses even reminds you throughout the week which was handy. We had the space to ourselves for our couples cup making class. Brandon is the friendliest guy- he leads you through picking out a style of cup (tall boy, wine glass, or a rocks glass), color options (solids and cool blends available), and then teaches you all about the tools. He walks you through and assists with each step of the glass blowing steps but it really does feel like you are making the glass. Honestly, it was the coolest hour. Additional details: Blown studios regulates the temperature really nicely but it's probably best to wear a short sleeve shirt because the glory hole and furnace are (clearly) hot. You get to pick up your piece the next day so it has time to slowly cool down in the annealer. Brandon made the experience- his directions are easy to follow and he's a great communicator. It makes you feel safe around the heat and tools while feeling confident that you can create a cool piece of blown glass. Brandon was recommended by a friend who took his classes down in Jacksonville. They highly recommended him because of how great of an experience they had. I've always wanted to go glass blowing and have been looking forward to this for a while. Brandon was soo amazing. He is so chill and patient. He is super knowledgeable with sooo many years of experience. I made a tumbler but I wanted a mix of colors with a swirl pattern. He was so good at describing what you needed to do and to guide you through the whole process. I'd highly recommending coming out here to take a glass blowing class with Brandon at his studio. The temps are kind of high which is expected, so be sure to bring some drinks with you to keep yourself cool. This is definitely a must if you would like a great experience here in Savannah. Took this class a couple weeks back, it was such a good experience! We made a last minute class because we had a scheduled class at another studio. But due to a covid outbreak that was cancelled. Brandon set us up with a class before my flight left and it was totally worth it. I'm glad he made it possible to still experience glass work. I have loved glass blowing my entire life, to be able to learn basic glass blowing and get to make my own piece is a dream come true!
