I met Guillermo (the owner) at Home Depot while standing in line in the paint department. I had just run my long time painter off after the current job because his quality had gone down hill. I had him give me a quote for my 2,700 sqft two story home. He was very nice and seemed to be very experienced. Kept saying how he was from Houston and had been here for 25 years so he was not a fly by night kind of company. His people do it right! His quote came just under what my old painter had quoted, so I viewed it as reasonable and gave him a shot.
I was very clear on what I wanted throughout the process. I was very adamant about removing face plates, vents, canister lights, and door handles to ensure the painting was properly done (I would view this as painting 101). As you can see from one of my pictures, they clearly did not remove the face plates. Painting Solutions was to paint almost all rooms in my house (two were not to be done since they would be remodeled later) and one they were going to sand down the texturing so we could do wallpaper. They were also to paint all cabinets and trim. These were clearly the larger part of the quote since the trim and cabinets required more time for properly sanding and smoothing out. He kept reiterating that everything would be taken care of.
Throughout the job I was putting up blue tape for spots completely missed, bad drips, and not properly sanded spots. I continued reiterating my expectations. I would see the tape was removed the next day and usually the missed spot was not taken care of or horribly touched up. One the last day Guillermo was very aggressive saying he should have charged me more if he knew I would be having him "repaint" so many things. My response to him was, "how do you expect me to pay extra if you didn't even paint the spot in the first place let alone two coats as agreed upon?" He later apologized for his outburst. We won't get into the weeds of how I don't think he sanded one bit of the trim or how he completely missed on window frame and other spots. I'm still finding spots where they over sprayed or completely missed. It was clearly agreed upon they would smooth out anything in the wood like seams or wood imperfections. The entire time he kept trying to blame the cabinet maker for his inability to get things right the first time. Good lord, their tag line on their logo is, "We do it right the first time." Definitely a delusion of grandeur based off of my experience.
I hate leaving a negative review, but the more stuff I find the more it makes me upset. I honestly don't think they know how to paint anything other than a basic wall. They were the cheapest and I got what I paid for. I would not recommend them for any future jobs. They still had a door that was to be painted, but I am doing it myself so I know it is done correctly. The only 5 star I can give him is the dry wall repair that his (brother or brother-in-law) did.
I've attached just a few of the photos that were in my phone, I could put up so many more if I had the time to take photos of them. read more
