Warning It was my first time shopping here I love supporting small businesses in San Antonio. I was not sure what to expect and I left 3 hours later planning my next trip. The amount of items trinkets clothing cards and gift ideas was remarkable. Most shops were not managed but all items were labeled and priced accordingly by their owners. There was something for everyone whether it was a sticker candy a card or home decor to a sweater anything and everything you can imagine it was at one of the many shops. The shops are all small spots that are decorated with the sellers personal touch. There is a coffee shop in the middle of the store and clean restrooms with dressing rooms available for you to try on clothing items. THIRD VISIT (and NOT the last!) I popped in for some seasonal eye candy (someone, please spook me with Halloween decor and cue the Christmas carols!) and check out the tea shop because I keep coming in on Sundays when the tea shop is closed. Painted Tree DID NOT disappoint today. I got the BEST mini, crunchy chocolate chip cookies made by "That Cookie Tho". I bought a big bag for $15.50 and I killed the whole thing in 2 days. Oops. Now I need to go back. There was an abundance of Halloween and fall items and tons of year-round treats. As for The Steeped Leaf, I thoroughly enjoyed this little place- and if you like a tea and scone break as much as I do, you've GOT to stop by. Conveniently nestled in the center of The Painted Tree collection of boutique goodies in one humongous shopping space, there is so much to ogle and covet. Go ahead, set an hour or two (3 if you're me) and make it a Saturday or weekday afternoon drop in spot. Take friends, or go alone. And er... consider leaving the kids at home if they like to touch EVERYTHING and will nag endlessly until they coerce you into buying it all for them. I don't know the rules to become a vendor and showcase your goods there for sale, but much of the merchandise within are handmade, eclectic, creative and so much fun. Brace yourself for the most colorful clothing, sparkly things and mischief and decor that will make your heart smile. They have the cutest handmade jewelry and I even witnessed one technician soldering a "permanent" chain bracelet on a customer. I gotta try that! There are no "workers" on the floor, aside from the tea shop workers (who are so nice!) and you just snatch up whatever you'd like to buy and take it up to the front to pay. FUN TIP: Keep your eyes open for individual shops' discount signage. I saw many "20% -50% off entire shop" signs. Wear comfy shoes and try out the tea shop if you can. read more

I didn't know a place like this existed. It is a large building with little booths from different vendors. The concept is brilliant. I love that most of the shops are local and that they have some of my favorite things such as That Cookie Tho and lots of unique jewelry. Give yourself time to shop. I love, love, love Painted Tree Boutique! There are so many different locally owned booths that offer very unique items. This is the perfect place to find any sort of gift for someone or yourself! There's even a small cafe that serves coffee and treats! Customer service has always been friendly and it's always nice to see a shop owner restocking or setting up their items. There's all different price points depending on which shop you are looking through but I've always found good items for good prices. They do have pop up events with food, drinks and refreshments and that is always fun!! read more

Wandering throughout the city and discovering new places is something I love to do, which is how I found Painted Tree Boutiques. The building where Boutiques is situated was a Sears, which is now closed. I always wondered what would become of the space once it was vacated and now I know. Painted Tree Boutiques is actually compiled of smaller to larger locales that can be rented to sell different items. Each vendor decorates their area in an imaginative way to sell their products. During my visit, I saw clothing, candy, toys, home décor and vintage items for sale in the different areas. I really enjoyed looking around. The area is clean, spacy and has quite a few booths. There is even a tea lounge and café spot, The Steeped Leaf, to stop for a quick tea or bite. I miss the old Sears since that was there for years and I had family who visited their hair salon often, but I am glad to see that the space is being put to good use. read more

Absolutely loved the store! I was enjoying walking around and shopping, spent over 200! However, when I was leaving the lady working at the cashier was rude. I had never been here and I said that I was like I've lived in San Antonio for six years and I didn't even know this was a place she's like well we've only been open for three years and I was just like okay and then I was asking like do y'all change vendors or is it pretty consistent and she was like well why would vendors change their shop and she was like I don't understand your question and she just kept reiterating that I don't understand you, y don't make sense and I was just like um okay can I just pay and leave.. and in a way it makes me not want to go back because I felt like embarrassed and dumb like how could I ask such questions. Some friends opened up a booth inside Painted Tree Boutique a while ago so my sister and I decided to swing in on Black Friday. It wasn't very busy, which was remarkable because there's something for everyone here, and it's mostly small businesses. We knocked out quite a bit of our Christmas shopping here! The boutique is huge, and by the time we left we had only navigated the perimeter and about a quarter of the internal booths, but we were pretty tired! Each little both is unique and charming, and they have a variety of things from San Antonio stables (Very That and BarbacoApparel), homemade things like tortilla warmers and bowl warmers, socks upon socks upon socks, earrings, earrings, and more earrings, crystals, soaps, lotions, snacks, clothes, toys - new and vintage, Sanrio stuff, and more! It's like a laid back artist's alley at a comic con without the mass hysteria. The vendors can range to inexpensive to a little more pricey, but some vendors did have sales for the holiday season, typically about 20-25% off. It's also pretty guilt-free as I mentioned earlier they're mostly small businesses. Getting rung up at cashwrap was also a breeze. They had three people at registers so there was never too long of a line. The entire experience was great. We didn't feel rushed or overwhelmed (except when looking through bins and bins of jibbitz for crocs). I wish more shopping experiences were like this haha read more

This place is perfect for someone who doesn't want to go to a mall but loves malls. It's eclectic and the folks who own the booths have the best of the best of everything. I got Halloween for my porch and fireplace covered. The prices range from low to high and there is something for everyone. I will definitely be back for Christmas shopping, decorating and because it was so fun. The clothes, jewelry and home decor was pretty incredible as well. I recommend everyone stop in The Painted Tree. I was at the Painted in Dallas and could not wait to find one here. I was not disappointed! read more

First of all, if you are planning to come here and explore- you need to clear your afternoon. This is not a place you can just run in and out of to pick up a few items, and you don't want to be rushed through. There is so much to see and so many little shops to visit. I loved that there was a variety of sellers and each little section can be decorated and personalized by the seller. The prices vary and I think I best describe it as an upgraded open market, indoors with no vendors. There is plenty of staff available to answer questions and one place to check out at the end. I loved it so much I went twice in a week, but my wallet couldn't handle another visit. This is a great place to look for gifts, support local vendors and get some great merchandise. read more

What a hodgepodge of amazing gifts to pick and choose from! Stopped here one day after I had seen a story about one of the vendors on one of the local morning shows. Needless to say I never made it to that particular vendor because I got swallowed in distraction of all the others. Prices aren't bad at all. Everything from snacks to jewelry to home decor, clothes, candles and so much more. Bought a darling vintage jewelry box for my sister's birthday in October (I'm a planner what can I say) as well as a bottle of popcorn salt. There ya go; so many diverse items to shop. Everything is beautifully displayed and does not look cheap. There are also all price ranges inside.
