I've only ever had two people touch my hair in my 31 years of existence who weren't me during my unfortunate "I can totally cut my own bangs" era, so trusting someone new with my hair is a BIG deal. I called to ask about pricing for a haircut and whether there was any chance they could take me the same day, and I was blessed with Olivia. From the moment I arrived, Olivia was so warm and welcoming. She was also very transparent about her experience and the level she's currently at, which honestly didn't bother me at all. If anything, she seemed genuinely excited to work with my hair because it hadn't been cut in so long and was basically a fresh canvas. I told her I wanted layers and a little bit of a bang, and she also recommended doing a black gloss over my hair, which I agreed to. BEST decision. First of all, Olivia's head massages are out of this world. I would literally pay this woman just to wash my hair and scrub my scalp. But the HAIR. My hair looked AMAZING when I left her chair. It was shiny, glossy, soft, smelled incredible, and had so much life again. I was genuinely in love with it. She also recommended a few products based on my hair, and my hair has been LOVING them. Carly SAVED my hair!! I came in with months of growth after a horribly done foil at Studio W in Castro Valley left me with a weird, Dijon mustard colored mop. I had felt terrible about my hair for MONTHS on top of planning a small wedding, and with the big day just days away I didn't want to risk another bad foil. I love long hair, but did my usual routine of waiting 6 months before my next haircut, so naturally my biggest complaint was the long split ends and flatness. He revamped my hair to something low maintenance with long layers with much more volume and shape. My hair felt way softer and actually had movement after. I was very pleased to say the least. I would recommend this place to any of my friends. It's away from the WC traffic and there is actually parking here, so one less thing to worry about. I had a great conversation with David and enjoyed the salon experience. They're accommodating, friendly and use high quality products on your hair. Carly did an amazing job on a balayage for my daughter who had wrecked part of her own hair by repeatedly bleaching it at home. She was mindful of previous damage- so much so that it was unnoticeable by the time we left and all we were left with was the natural looking highlights and beautiful layers. First, regarding the timing of my appointment, while I was waiting for my consultation to begin, you were finishing another client's hair. I personally overheard your client tell you that she was willing to wait since my appointment was "just a consultation." You declined and said you didn't want her sitting there while you consulted with me and that you would finish her hair first. If I had an established client who made that offer, I would have accepted it, especially knowing I had a new client already waiting. I've worked in sales for over 25 years, and I believe being respectful of people's time is important. If one of my clients offered to wait so I could take care of someone whose appointment had already started late, I absolutely would have taken that opportunity. Instead, my consultation began significantly later than my scheduled appointment time. To me, that was unprofessional and my first red flag. Second, I was never quoted $375 per appointment if the service was broken up into two appointments. During my consultation, you told me the service would be $220 per hour, even if it took multiple appointments. The $375-per-appointment option mentioned in your response was never presented or discussed with me. I also remember telling you that $750 was about the maximum I was personally willing to spend on my hair. I told you that anything beyond that, for me, would need to be with someone who has a nationally recognized or celebrity-level reputation because that's the level of trust I'd want for that kind of investment. That was simply my personal budget and opinion, and I was upfront about it during our consultation. Lastly, everyone is free to set their own prices, and I respect that. However, in my opinion, those rates are comparable to what some nationally recognized celebrity stylists charge. For me personally, the pricing did not align with the experience I received during my appointment. I believe premium pricing should be reflected not only in the final results, but also in the overall client experience, communication, professionalism, and level of expertise. Based on my consultation, I didn't feel your experience justified those rates, you're simply not their yet. read more

for a year now. Let me point out a skilled training that was offered years ago to hair dressers called Vidal Sassoon. Some did get the training and successfully completed the course and received the MIT cert for haircut, color and styling from Sassoon courses. I have used many stylist and hair dressers charging from 45- 800 dollars. The 800 dollar cut, color, highlights, stylings was from Vidal Sassoon graduates. However the hair designer charging 800 was doing entertainment people. Now we have Kelly who has the certificate from Vidal and charges reasonable prices for the Bay Area and creates an art work not a hair color, cut or highlight and style. I will say just try her once there is no way you will go back to any other stylists than Vidal trainees. read more

So i'm not generally a huge reviewer, so pardon the writing style...but it feels like i've hit the hair lottery so here goes. I made an appointment using their online portal (super convenient) with Kelly. I came in with crazy bleached hair grown out to high heaven. I'm talking like half my head was grown out. Can't bleach again without getting stringy, stretchy ends but haven't had anything interesting done with my hair since a pixie faux hawk when I was 22. SO I collect a bunch of inspo that's wildly different and not a whole lot of input to help figure out what will look good because i've had highlights with a boring cut for ten years. Kelly helped me figure out what color would grow out beautifully with my natural color but would still enhance my features, have some dimension, AND would work to blend the blunt line between my bleached ends and roots without causing any further damage. And girl, the SHINE- it's outrageous. Literally three different people have told me I look like a movie star. Now the cut: tbh I didn't really know what I wanted. For the last 10 years it's been a boring cut with long layers. So when I was experimenting with the idea of a big chop, I was scared that i'd ask for something that would end up looking terrible. This is where Kelly's expertise really came in handy. I told her roughly the amount of time I could spend styling and the vibe I wanted and BOOM.
