Delta Force Paintball - We can't go over it..!

My sons and I recently went paintballing at the Delta Force paintball site in Southampton. I booked…read morein four of us but a couple of days before the event, my sons wanted to bring a few of their friends so after a quick phone call I was a able to add five extra players to our booking. Come the day, the site was quite hard to find so we arrived ten or fifteen minutes late. We quickly had to fill out some registration forms, grab our equipment (a helmet, black overalls, ammo holder and a paintball hopper), buy our paintballs and get put into a team with some other guys and girls. The manager of the site then gave a safety brief which didn't really leave any stone unturned and then we were taken out into the games. The day followed this pattern Play two ten-minute halves of each 'game zone', swapping sides for each half before being taken back to the basecamp for a quick break to top up on paintballs, use the toilet and grab a drink. We would then repeat this process until half way through the day when we had lunch, which consisted of pizzas. I couldn't eat much of mine (as I'm currently on a diet) but they were good and the boys enjoyed them especially! After lunch we were taken out into the games again. Throughout the day we played a capture the huts game on a village field, a raise the flag on the fort game, a high adrenaline total annihilation game called 'speedball' and a couple of others. The whole day seemed like it went by far too quickly but we all had a lot of fun! So much so that we are all going back again next month with a group of thirty of us! Thanks again Delta Force.

As a head teacher I went to Campaign to inspect on the recommendation of another school for an end…read moreof term activity. I have little experience of what to look for at a Paintball site apart from Health and Safety and whether the punters were enjoying themselves. On arrival I was greeted by two staff with a friendly wave and taken to meet the owners. Fortunately, there were several schools arriving as well as groups of adults. It appears Campaign has been owned by the same guys for over 20 yearsthe site is vast and what I saw totally reassured me. Interestingly, the first school to be briefed was a school that I knew really well having worked there many years ago so I was able to speak to the pupils and teachers as the morning went on. They liked the equipment, the variety of themed areas and the banter of the marshals. Some games were extremely tactical and serious stuff. It was obvious the adrenalin was flowing and every pupil I spoke to was fully engaged and loving it. Lunch was also provided in the price. Most groups I spoke to had been before, and this backed up what the owners said about repeat business and making the experience bespoke for 'their customers'. In conclusion a well run operation, clear instructions, heavy focus on safety (I was given a briefing and had to wear the goggles, protective gear on the range even at lunchtime) and what seems like new equipment. I intend to take a large group of dads (and daughters) to Campaign very soon.

Excellent place for a day out…read more I have been to Campaign three times now. I had such a blast on my 21st birthday many moons ago that I arranged an outing for work. Last saturday I dutifully arranged my best mate Jon's stag party. Really pleased to say we weren't let down by Campaign.. These guys certainly take a lot of care in what they do and I can't praise them highly enough. Thanks again.

Awesome fun, if you enjoy racing around the woods shooting at your friends. And why not?!…read more If you've paintballed before, you'll know the score. If you havenm't - basically you rock up to the site, are given a space-age helmet and cammo coveralls to wear, and a gun that's filled with biodegradeable 'paintballs'. You're divided into two teams, and you tromp off into the woods after the instructors brief you on safety - and the rules of the game. Then all hell breaks loose as each team tries to 'shoot' the other team member whilst staying un-shot themselves. If you find yourself splatted then you're out of the game. But all games run only about 15-20 minutes, so you won't be down and out for long! Paintball Warminster was where I took Junior and his friends for his birthday last year (perfect for teenage boys!) and I got an immense number of 'Cool Mum' brownie points! The folks there are very helpful and professional, and really went the extra mile to make the birthday great. There's a lovely covered waiting area, where you can sit and read or just veg out in the sunny woodland atmosphere (no danger of flying paintballs as the 'civilian area' is protected by a huge fence/netting.) There's rea and coffee and cold drinks and nibbles available throughout, at the kiosk - and flushing toilets just around the corner. The meals are hearty and filling - inclusive in the price of some deals, and just the thing to tuck into after racing around for several hours. Thee time passes very quickly indeed, and it's glorious fun! Be sure to take anough money to purchase extra paintballs though, because no matter how many you think you'll need, you always need more! Totally reccomend this place, for friends having a wacky day out, or a birthday with a difference. The site also does go-karting (which we've also tried!) and has lazer-quest soon to be added to it's list of attractions. I can keep junior happy on birthday outings forever here!!

Would you voluntarily get shot by a rapid fire machine gun at close range? The answer that any…read moresound-minded person would give to such a question would be Absolutely not, unless of course you like paintball. Paintball (and I'm sure the't' is silent) is surely the juncture at which BDSM and sport meet; not that I'd wear PVC on the field; too conspicuous. Not enough padding. Mayhem is astonishingly easy to get to; unlike some of these fields tucked away in Kent, miles away from any form of public transport, this venue is on the central line. Just get off at Theydon Bois (it's in East London, in case you wondered) and the shuttle which comes once every 10 minutes, literally dumping you at their doorstep. Their attitude to safety is suitably militant; you won't get away with any rapid fire shots when no-one is expecting it or off you go. The ranges are very diverse; loads of woodlands, some trenches to get muddy in, a wild west saloon with not much coverage, which pretty much guarantees a good bruising. Fantastic. The food however is abysmal. Coke? Burgers? Fizzy rubbish? No fruit? Come on. At least spare me a banana I went with a women's extreme sports group called Adventure Dykes; what I was later to learn was that three of our team were in the army and the rest were regulars, which may go some way in explaining why we kicked our opponents' butts. And that's ultimately what's so good about it. It's all about the 'I win, you die' mentality. In the nicest possible way of course

I was leary of Mayhem - I'd heard some mixed things, but only later realised that not all of the…read morepaintballing places named Mayhem are actually run by the same guys. What a relief! This place is actually legit. Having never been paintballing before, I don't have much to compare it to, but overall there was little to be unhappy about. Whilst organisation occasionally felt shambolic at the beginning, that was more a reflection of how hard it is to herd stag do attendees and the like, rather than the marshals' lack of organisation. Marshals were friendly, clear and safety-conscious. They were extremely clear about not taking off helmets at any time, and were reassuringly hard-line about this. They were accommodating and helpful throughout. The variety of scenarios was good - we didn't even get to try all of them, even thoguh we were there the entire day. Facilities besides the arenas aren't the best, but then expectations are very low - it's a paintballing outfit on a farm, so toilets of questionable quality was always going to be a risk. On the plus side, whilst I dreaded how bad the food would be, the burgers were actually edible and nobody got food poisoning, so I consider that a fairly high bar set. Really easy to get to as you just take the Central line to Theydon Bois and then they send down a shuttle coach frequently. Couldn't ask for it to be easier. It also seemed to attract a good crowd; the regulars, at least, were all really nice/helpful and didn't do the kind of eye-rolling and snorting at the rookies that you might expect. All in all, it felt like what a good paintballing place should, at least to this first-timer. I'm certainly intending to return.

No service staff…read moreavailable cause there were only two to three people for all groups probably around 80 on site! No help at all with fitting outfits kids were given far too big uniforms and we had to go back and look ourself! So we lost plenty of time then. Later no information about where to get paintballs and we literally had no time to load them up cause briefing was given shortly after putting outfits on! A lot of stress on a hot day! Everyone was exhausted cause we didn't know what to expect on our first paintball event! The worst thing was that I called customer service many times before visit and truly didn't expect to be paying crazy lot of money to play not against my team and people I went with but complete strangers! They formed groups of two colours(taped on arms) and when dividing into groups didn't even ask if kids had adults with them! Everything was done in a rush! It was complete madness! Equipment they offer is of very very poor state! Uniforms well used without buttons and masks OMG! Awful smell couldnt even breathe in it!!! None of this was for children that's for sure! Too big definately, kids had problems with loosen helmets! And I strongly think that for safety reasons it is a must!!! Finally when we were given guns it was a surprise! In my opinion and all children with me guns were sooo heavy that even adults had problems holding them! Definately will not recommend it to anyone! Never I thought that I would spend sooo much money and get such a bad day in return! Kids were disappointed so much! We thought we were to play between eachother with people and kids in my group not to shoot strangers we don't know! When I asked about how they run birthday parties they said it is what we get on the day. We play with all the people that come in on the day! You can't even recognise your own kids in that uniform among other 80 people!!!! What is the use of it!!!???? None at all!!! I spend around 400 pounds and trust me if I knew how it looks I would never ever go there!!! I was then told that the f I wanted to get separate field to play I need at leat 40.people or pay extra 100 pounds!!!! No refreshments free of charge like they state on website not even drinking water! You have to bring all with you and if you want to leave your backpack your car key etc. You have to pay extra for locker(£5)!!!Its rediculous!!! For the amount of money I paid its nothing near I was expecting to get! When we went to first game kids got lost we got lost everyone was shooting everywhere one god know what was going on in there! After the very first game half of my team with kids aged 8 went home!!! Don't blame them. Soon after the rest of us left! Awful customer service and awful place to play paintball!!!
