I've always had a creative side and enjoyed the idea of learning more artistic outlets, so when I found out that they do classes, I had to join in! My friends have always talked about doing a watercolor class so when I went on to their site, I saw quite a few for the day but none in the evenings. I messaged them on Instagram and they immediately shared with me the upcoming watercolor evening classes to sign up. They do a lot of day time classes for kids but also have a variety of classes that you can sign up for throughout the month. Facebook seems to be the most up to date spot for events. This class was the "Watercolor Rainbow" where the owner provided each station with practice paper, a larger watercolor paper for our "creation" and our own paint palettes. We walked through different techniques of wet on wet, wet on dry, how to add more texture and even remove some of the paint if it was too wet. It was a great experience to dabble back into watercolors and I will definitely be looking into other classes here in the future!

It served it that capacity well. The LAG is a basement gallery with a small ground level lobby and stairs leading down. They have good, but not great paintings and sculptures leading the way down. Most of the gallery was given over to photography on the day of my visit. There was photos from civil disturbances, a series about an old, eccentric looking gentleman a local fire department had "adopted" and some covering an incident of an elephant getting loose and being "put down" by authorities. The latter was very affecting. It makes me queasy just writing about it. That poor, magnificent creature. There were also some beautiful photos of Isle Royale, a place I've been fascinated with for about the past 15 years or so. I've never been there, but now I can at least say I watched a short DVD about it thanks to the LAG. The price is right to visit, too. There's a donation box for whatever you care to give. I made sure to put a little something in.

She looked forward to her camp each morning, which isn't always the case in the summer, and wasn't ready to stop with her artistic imagination when she left. She benefitted from the small group sizes, individual attention, and the freedom to express her own artistic vision in the camp. To close out the camp there was an art show which she looked forward to throughout the week and was an exciting way to culminate the experience.

I had waited so long to finally buy all my supplies to create my own studio after paying for classes and using others equipment. I looked at all of their bundles and they looked super reasonable to buy everything together. I even checked the prices of all the tools individually and the bundles are in fact a good deal! I chose the lead upgrade kit and the bundle with grinder and tools without the glass sheets. I got to check out and WTF. They wanted me to pay $300 dollars to ship it to me. Now this is outrageous. They claim their shipping costs are due to the fact that glass is fragile etc. Well that makes sense only I wasn't buying glass I was buying tools! What is saved in my bundles was more than doubled in shipping costs. Soooo disappointed. I reluctantly cancelled my order and got everything on Amazon for 11 dollars shipping. I hate Amazon and avoid shopping there like the plague but I'm sorry I'm not rich and could not believe the shipping cost difference for the exact same materials and I even ordered a few more things. Watch out for the shipping costs!!!!
