Communication with the owner was exceptional from start to finish. No long wait times, no back-and-forth delays--just clear, prompt, and professional responses that made coordination effortless. What impressed me most was their ability to perform under extremely challenging conditions. With 25-30 mph wind gusts and a three-story exterior to paint, I fully expected delays. Instead, they performed absolute magic. Their precision, attention to detail, and commitment to getting the job done safely and correctly were remarkable. This project was for one of our premier rentals in Alexandria, and the final result looks fantastic. I would absolutely use JZ Painting again for future projects and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others looking for a reliable, high-quality painting crew. I spent a lot of time researching contractors and getting quotes and had a full range of contractor options and price points to really get an idea of what was available. Ed's quote was not the cheapest- and that is a good thing! He has an incredible eye for detail and a small but wonderful and highly skilled team. His company is licensed, bonded, and insured- he provides a copy of his paperwork up front (true professionals). Ed and his team were incredibly responsive, flexible, and great to work with. Loved getting the teaser pictures at work. I can't say enough about the quality of prep & fixes they did for our walls and ceilings (which needed some work!). Ed was the only contractor to notice a part of the baseboard trim that didn't match (which he did a beautiful job fixing), and he asked very detailed questions during the quote process which clearly articulated his approach for the job. They do so much more than the painting! I actually had a couple more contractors scheduled to get a few more quotes but after meeting with Ed it was a clear choice. We responded quickly to get in queue for his availability. We even had a tight window since we are also getting carpet and furniture and needed the painting done before hand. Definitely worth waiting for Ed and his team! We were lucky and they fit us in quickly- but absolutely worth waiting for! And I can say after seeing the quality of their work- great price for an outstanding job. Worth every penny!

In 2024 we had a wooden swingset, a deck, and some fence in various stages of needing paint. We hired Ed confident that his company would once again impress despite our having limited time to talk through the project, and as expected the job came out perfect. I'm sure it wasn't fun to work around ropes and the various swingset oddities but the end result looks incredible. Painters are all doing the same job, but Ed's team are the folks you use when you want a job to look good to the discerning eye, and there will be moments where Ed goes above and beyond as in this job where he donated old unopened paint cans to Habitat for Humanity for us. I highly recommend folks give Ed a call for any painting needs and will 100% hire him again when it's time to paint the rest of our house interior.

The estimate that Scott and Pablo gave was thorough, Marvin and the crew showed up on time, worked tirelessly, were courteous, cleaned up after themselves, and did an outstanding job. Of course, as Dori led us to expect, the team discovered additional rot as they worked. I cannot overstate the diligence Marvin in particular brought to the task of identifying and fixing the rot. When I bought my home 13 years ago, I planned to paint the walls myself to cover the mustard yellow the previous owner had used on all the interior walls. Despite my intentions, I never found the right time for such a huge project; it felt overwhelming, and time ticked on, and I discovered I had settled for living with a color I hated. I realized I needed help, and it wouldn't hurt to get an estimate from a professional. I'd seen Jett Painting sponsored youth sports with ads at the fields, so I figured if they were giving back to their community, I should call them first. Nate arrived promptly and gave me a fair price that pushed me over the edge to give up on doing this big project myself and let his crew take care of it. The crew finished in a day and a half what would likely have taken me four to six weeks. I'm SO GLAD I hired his professional crew! When I saw the results, there was no way I could ever make my home look as nice as they did. The crew covered the floors, then patched and repaired the drywall spots and nail holes; next, they sanded it all down, and then came the exciting part: watching the old color disappear as it took on a new, brighter color. His crew had a steady hand and made perfect cut lines at the ceiling and around the trim. I'm positive I would have botched it up. What do I regret? Not calling Jett Painting years ago. Don't be like me and waste years looking at walls that don't make you happy. Give Jett Painting a call, and you'll be as happy with your new walls as I am.

I was very impressed with Mitchell at first. I was so happy to find a painter that I could use on…read morethis job and future jobs, so I thought. He was able to show me examples of his work and give me a quote on the spot. After he knew I was going with his firm, things turned a bit sour. I wanted to chat about a few things so he told me to call at 5 o'clock the next day. I called at 5 o'clock the next day and he seemed a bit irritated. So I asked him if it was a good time to talk. He said well if you want to talk with a toddler around. He was quite curt. He told ME to call him AT 5! The next day I reminded him he told me that I should call at that time and he was still complaining about talking with his child around. If you do not have a baby sitter do not ask clients to call you. I thought he would apologize for his rudeness, he didn't. Instead, I believed I was apologizing. Nuts. Then, I realized I had to remove two medicine cabinets that would leave holes in the walls that would need drywall patches. I told him about that and he said it would be $50 each extra just to do the drywall patches. Fine. Then a couple weeks later he said well are those the kind of cabinets that are hung on the wall or leave a hole when removed. I said there are holes. He proceeded to tell me then that that would probably be more than $50. So, if there are nail holes in the wall it's $50, but if there is a drywall hole it's more? I do not understand that. Mind you, I have emails where he actually wrote "confirmed" on items/clarifications to make sure they were included in the contract. I knew to do that because of the way his contract was written. Apparently, his contract only goes one way, his way. He states specifically that his contract is the entire contract: "Exclusions--Anything not mentioned in scope." I had in the contract to paint the outdoor shutters and white dry lock on the exposed cinderblock walls in the "downstairs laundry room." He's talking to me on the phone the day before, obviously not reading his own contract, and he says the shutters were not included, but he says that's okay. I reminded him they were in the contract. The next day when he goes to start work, he tells me the entire basement is not included. Mind you, he agreed to use dry lock in the "downstairs laundry room." There is no exposed cinderblock in the home except in the laundry room in the basement. He told me he didn't have the basement in any of his notes or video and he asked me if I remember going down there with him. I said I didn't remember. I reminded him of the cinderblock dry lock paint and he said well I assumed that was in the ground level - - so he didn't refer to his video that would clearly not show any exposed cinderblock above ground level ? Mind you, the contract states "Prep and paint all walls, ceilings, trim, and doors throughout the home." Well, he asked for an additional $2800 more. When I said no, it's just getting too expensive for me he dropped it to $2500 more (the contract was already ~$11,000). Mind you, he contracted with me to do the entire home. He reneged on his contract. What was I going to do? Take him to court? I need my home painted and I don't want someone to be forced to paint and do a bad job. Not saying that he would do a bad job, but I also needed it done as soon as possible. At a minimum, he should've owned up to the error. Instead, he tried to put the blame on me because I did not go in the basement with him. Seriously? If he had owned up to the mistake and given me a much better price, I probably would've gone with him. Mind you, his crew was already there and he had started putting paper down in a few rooms. He probably lost more money taking his crew away and losing a day of scheduled painting. I am just very disappointed. I think he probably would do a beautiful job, but I can't go with someone who changes the price while at the job. Is it my responsibility to walk into every room with him to make sure he has every room in his notes and video?
