My friends and I were celebrating a marriage and a proposal in Tulum, and thought having a private…read morechef come cook at our airbnb would be perfect. AND I WAS RIGHT?! Chef Luis did not disappoint! The process is very easy and simple. I emailed Chef Luis to get a quote and was sent an extensive and affordable menu to choose from (lots of great choices) This is what we decided on: Starters: Beef flour empanadas Fresh fish ceviche with coconut and mango Sikil pak Main course: Rib eye with garlic butter Cochinita pibil tacos Lobster (extra $ but well worth it) Sides: Grilled corn with chipotle dressing Rice and beans Asparagus with bacon and honey Dessert Season fruit sautéed in mezcal with ice cream Everything was very tasty and delicious, but my favorites were the rib eye, lobster, and ceviche, and i also noticed Chef Luis threw in some potatoes too! Thank you Chef! Overall Chef Luis was very responsive/communicative and professional the whole time, He picked up all fresh ingredients, utilized the kitchen as well as the outdoor grill and made the whole house smelling delightful, and he even cleaned up afterwards and packed up our leftovers to store in the fridge :) it definitely was one of my favorite activities that my friends and I shared while we were in Tulum. I highly recommend Chef Luis, friendly and talented Chef!

Extremely disappointing experience with Catering Tulum…read more We booked and prepaid for a private dinner and breakfast during our trip to Tulum. Approximately one hour before our scheduled dinner, Luis cancelled due to a personal emergency. I was initially very understanding of the circumstances. He offered either a replacement chef/rescheduling or a full refund. When the alternative arrangements did not happen, I requested the refund. Luis told me in writing that he would process my refund on Monday. Monday came and went with no refund and no update. I contacted him Tuesday morning and received no response for the entire day, despite the business remaining active on social media. By Wednesday, I still had neither my money nor an update. After repeatedly trying to contact him, Luis finally responded and acknowledged again that he owed me the refund, but attempted to move the refund date to Sunday, explaining that he did not currently have the funds available. I did not agree to that extension. What concerns me most is not simply that the original service had to be cancelled. Emergencies happen. It is the way the situation was handled afterward. I should not have to repeatedly chase a business for money paid for services that the business itself cancelled and never provided. If a refund cannot be processed when promised, at minimum the customer deserves proactive communication rather than being ignored. I have retained the booking information, proof of payment, cancellation messages, refund promises and subsequent correspondence documenting this experience. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution anyone considering prepaying this business to understand the refund process beforehand and keep complete documentation of all payments and communications.

Culture is seeping out of every corner, and the rustic vibe and images truly make the atmosphere part of the dining experience. Lalo greeted us at the door right away and was just spectacular throughout the entire meal. He was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. His care and attention really heightened the whole evening for us. Before our main course, we were surprised with a complementary appetizer dish that was out of this world! It came with small empanadas, sopes, fresco cheese with beet jelly, garlic butter, nut bread, orange with worm salt, and a tomato cream cheese spread. I honestly couldn't believe all of that was on the house. For our main dishes, we ordered the Chile en Nogada and the Metztli. Neither disappointed! Both the nogada sauce and the black mole were addictive and perfectly executed. We finished with the Cetli (the Mexican sweet corn cake) for dessert, and the chocolate Kahlúa sauce tied everything together beautifully. Yes, this place is a bit pricey, but it is worth it from beginning to end. They even include a mazapán with your bill, which is such a sweet touch. I won't hesitate to come back!
