    Candle making set up!!!
    Amirah B.

Went on a sister outing and had a fantastic time making candles! Booking was easy, staff were friendly, prices were reasonable, and the experience was completely self-paced. Highly recommend!

Love the story behind the shop. I heard the lady that started it wanted all the candle bases to be recycled and used again for different things. Whether it's just a bowl to hold things, a food bowl, a drinking cup, or even a planter! The bases are multi use and I love that! There's so many different colors and designs, this is probably the part that will take the longest, choosing what to use. Then you pick your scent, there's some that really surprised me. I was very curious about the Cactus Flower and Matcha - and I'm very happy I went with it. I've been burning my candle and it's so nice! Very different which I appreciate. Had a really fun time making a candle. It's a fun activity to do!

Upon entry, we were warmly greeted. After all the party groups came for our time session, we were given directions to pick our candle container. Disclaimer, the container options for the candles are vast and can be used for multiple purposes, which is pretty cool. Then, we picked our fragrances, which there appears to be an option for everyone. Needless to say, it was hard to make a decision. Afterwards (which didn't quite go as expected), we were directed to a notebook that guided us through the process. For this portion of the experience, we were actually expecting that the candle making session be a guided experience, rather than a "read and do". However, even though that was the case, we still had a really great time. After we completed our candles, we had to wait for approximately 2 to 3 hours for the wax to dry. Then came back and picked up our beautifully scented candles. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. FYI, the cost for this experience was approximately $47.

I loved making my own candle. I did this in September and loved it. My friend and I did this together. There were many vessels and scents to choose from. There is also deals when you refill. The store was really clean. There are also many items to purchase and even a sale section. The female staff member whom helped us was great. She let us just go about it and helped if we had questions. It is totally worth the price. I'm hoping to do this again.

We had so much fun today! The staff is so friendly, the place was clean and organized, and the vessel options are gorgeous. It's very simple to do, yes but as someone who has tried (and failed!) to make their own candles, this is a guaranteed success. Love Paddywax Reston!

This would be a great experience for a get together! I had so much fun making my own candle. The staff was friendly and helpful and there were so many options for scents and candle holders. It was a little overwhelming at first but who doesn't like options?! I would for sure come back and do this again.

I had the pleasure of attending a candlemaking class recently and had a wonderful time. We got an informative and interesting overview of Paddywax, the different vessel designs, and what makes them special! There were so many different unique vessels to choose from as well as a multitude of scent options. They were helpful in answering our questions during class and made the candlemaking expensive easy and enjoyable! On the last Fri of every month you can bring your empty vessel for a discounted refill, can't wait to do that!

Came here for a team building activity at my.last job. It was a fun activity and the results are amazing. There are a couple cons..1 we had to keep getting the attendants to bring over items we needed while following the directions. They also couldn't answer any questions anyone on my team had as there response was always "its in the directions" there was just no personality or helpfulness to them so good thing the directions are straightforward otherwise they would have to do work.

Made a reservation for 5 to make candles for our friends birthday celebration. We weren't sure what to expect, but we are trying to do more experiences for our "birthday club" instead of just gifts and lunch. The birthday girl mentioned Paddywax so I set it up. It was all set up very easily online. When we arrived our station was set up and one of the workers came over to explain what we were going to do. You basically pick your vessel...great variety and all can be repurposed in other ways, several are food safe. Then you pick your fragrance, and measure. Depending on your vessel you will get 1, 2 or 3 wicks. Once you are all set, one of the workers brings you over some hot wax for pouring and measuring. You measure, mix in your fragrance and pour. Once done, you leave it there to cool and they will text when done. The 5 of us had a good time. For the price point we would've loved options like making the candle wax a color! More fragrance choices would've been great too. Definitely a different and fun outing. Took about 45 mins or so. We grabbed lunch after and when we were done, so were our candles!

Located in Reston Town Center, and can park on the street or in the garage. Garage is paid parking on weekdays. Cute shop with some cute things for purchase ranging from candles (of course), accessories, water bottles, and more. The class was about $43 and booked online. They had us sit at a table, shared with about 6 other people. The station is set up with a scale, beaker, instructions booklet/easel. They had us pick out a scent (if you arrive early, check these out in advance because the line can get long and they have a lot of options). Of note, they said we weren't able to mix and combine scents. You can pick out a vessel (the container/vase) you put the candle in. They have lots of options and some can be used as other things (e.g., planter) when the candle runs out. You also can bring it back for a refill. Overall, it was fun to go through it but it was very much self paced rather than an actual class taught/led by a staff member. It was actually pretty simple. I'm not sure if I'd pay $43 to do this again, but it was a fun experience and I'm glad I did it once. Of note, you can BYOB/W, but there is a corking fee.

    One of our matching candles.

Guys--great date night idea for your lucky lady! We had never tried this before, and it was very easy and fun for my wife and me. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. They were very accommodating too, coming in a half hour early so we could pick up our candles before we left town. They had several bowls, jars, and containers for the candles and lots of scents to make our own. The price was a little higher than I expected, but it was more for the memorable experience. I'm glad we went!

Paddywax Candle Bar just makes scents. Located near the J. Crew in Reston Town Center, Paddywax offers a light, clean, and undoubtedly aesthetic space to create custom candle creations. My friend and I spent some quality time making our own candles during a Sunday afternoon workshop and we were enthralled the entire time! Firstly, making reservations online were quite easy through their website (https://thecandlebar.co/products/candle-pouring-reston). After we arrived to the workshop slightly early as recommended, and checked in at the register, team members quickly debriefed us upon seating at an available table. From there we were able to complete the next steps, one by one, with ease. It was very fun picking out our individual vessels and fragrances and it helped that everything was neatly organized. I loved the concept of repurposable vessels -- it is practical as it is sentimental! Plus, all the vessels were so cute! While it was self-led through well-designed printed instructions, the team was nearby to assist and the process was quick. Afterwards, we spent about two hours enjoying the shops and dining options nearby while waiting for our candles to be ready for pick up. Overall, it was a fun and seamless, first candle-making experience and I am happy I had it at such a bright + colorful place like Paddywax Candle Bar! Perhaps in the future, it would also make a nice touch if attendees could select or make a custom candle label/sticker for a memorable and finished look to wrap the experience all together. Definitely recommend if you are seeking a new and calming activity to try in the area with fellow candle lovers!

We had a great time here tonight!! Make sure you book your reservation with time in advance, slots fill up quick! The class was the perfect duration with just the right amount of customization options and instruction to keep it interesting. Perfect for date night or for girls night out! The oils smell amazing and it's tough to pick just one but sadly to cannot mix fragrances. Only one candle at the moment can be made Woden wick but of course I went with that one! All the candle jars are reusable and it's a business based on sustainability! Got to love it! Cute items for gifts or trinkets available for purchase too. While at first it may seem like a lot to pay for an hour class, it was great and original! Loved it! Sadly, you need to pick up your candle within 30 days and you can't take it with you same day!! At least they aren't wasted I'd forgotten and are instead given to charity. There is an option to ship it for $8 as well.

Their business model revolves around the reusing of the candle vessel, which I thought was very eco-friendly and a great idea!

Definitely worth stopping in. If you're someone who LOVES getting little treats and surprises for your friends and family this could be the perfect spot.
