It started by showing my ID to get a wristband, then scanning my ticket and going through security. I enjoyed the concert I went to - the venue was loud, lighting was good, and there was some outdoor space (with a second place to order drinks.) Close to the stage, people were dancing, moshing, and having a great time. In the back, there was room to enjoy with a little more space. My one gripe, I KNOW that alcoholic drinks at all concerts and venues will be overpriced but the only option for water was an $8 can. Just be aware if you plan to hydrate!

Such is life. - Mercury Ballroom is maybe the most intimate large music venues in town. Downstairs GA gets right up by the stage and even 'the back of the room' is only ~20 feet away. - Tickets here are typically quite reasonable. Watch for the $25 show promos that happen once or twice per year. - Friendly staff! - Access to snacks and beverages upstairs and downstairs. - Upstairs accessible by stairs or elevator - Coat check available. The cons - (not their fault, no stars taken) - I struggle to find a selection of great meal options pre-show right now in this theater district part of downtown. Shout-out to the pizza guys down the street for filling my belly pre-show, you're real ones!

The food is good but nothing to rave home about. I got the French dip and my boyfriend got the burger sliders. Both were good size portions and we were satisfied with the food. What the Scene is doing right is offering quick service in a nice atmosphere before shows. You order at the bar and the food comes to your table pretty quickly. I think we waited around 10 minutes for it. The only real complaint is the table situation. We ordered around 6:45 for a 7:30 show and there were no open tables. Many people linger and drink after eating taking up table space. Luckily Another couple offered to share their table with us. All all I will probably go back before another show but there's so many other places in Lou to choose from.

Plenty of seating inside - mainly high tops and tables. I was hoping for some comfy couches or chairs, but the vibe is fairly functional. They have a large space to create a warmer, modern vibe. It was my first time in Louisville and I saw that this place was really close to where I was grabbing dinner, so I wanted to stop by and grab a drink and check this place out. I'm assuming the area this bar is located in is the hipster area of Louisville. I'm not 100% sure, but having lived in Silver Lake (LA, CA) for a few years, there definitely was some recognizable symptoms of a hipster neighborhood. There's different sake beverages on the menu as well as a really solid, albeit small selection of whiskey (with more than reasonable prices too!). I ordered one of the individually packaged sakes and it was tasty. I got to look around and talk to the bartender a bit. He mentioned they had karaoke on Thursdays and are open to 4am (holy moly - so used to 2am on the west coast). I really wanted to come back, but was just so spent after dinner. It's a shame I couldn't hang out longer or just experience more of what this bar has to offer, but from what I experienced so far, a really great place!

Old Forester's Paristown Hall is my favorite place to catch a show in the city right now…read more Established only recently in 2019, I love how much the name (even with a brand sponsorship in it) sounds like an Established 1819 sort of place. It's a modern take on the standing-room-only "Big Rock Show" venue, with well stocked bars on either side of the stage and a cool balcony above (often reserved for VIP standing or sitting, and with its own bar and bathrooms). One of the twists to the venue that is in my understanding still greatly under appreciated is that the Louisville Orchestra collaborated in building Paristown Hall. The stage can fit the whole orchestra, the acoustics are good enough to showcase that, and the A/V system is deep enough capture most of it. How many orchestras in this country have a venue that they can regularly play that gives off "Big Rock Show" energy? Paristown Hall is also the reason that Louisville had one of the few active, working orchestras (and paid salaries to them!) in the country in the early 2020s. (Those live streams meant a lot to me as a fan of live music in those years.) I try to buy any Paristown Hall ticket that sounds even of passing interest. I especially buy a ticket for every Louisville Orchestra show at Paristown Hall before even reading the description, because any show our Orchestra thinks needs to be at Paristown Hall is a show I don't want to miss. (Absolutely my recommendation to everyone: if the Louisville Orchestra is playing at Paristown Hall it will be a treat and you should buy tickets.)

The bar reminds me of a typical biker bar but that type of vibe is something I've grown to enjoy. They have an upstairs patio and a garage side. They also have pool tables for people to enjoy. The employees were great. They would cut up with everyone and we never had to wait long for our drinks. Everything I had was great. They had themed Disney drinks for the night. I had the Ursula's curse which had vodka, blue curaçao and sprite. I couldn't taste the alcohol which was a win for me. My husband ordered the Mac and cheese fries. They were heavenly and the size was big enough to share. The only downside I have with losers is it desperately needs a good dusting. The upstairs patio had cobwebs all over it and you could see some on the garage side. Overall it was a fun time and I hope they bring back Disney karaoke

Ten storytellers have 5 minutes on stage to address the topic of the evening. Tonight's topic was "Revenge" with many inspirational stories referencing ultimately "choosing peace". The highlight of the show was getting to see local comedian, Mack Dryden, perform his unique wry schtick in unparalleled storytelling style. He brought down the house with his saga of battling squirrels while living in California. The venue has a small parking lot in front of the building, a larger parking area next to the property, and large amounts of free on street parking along Lexington Road and the surrounding side streets. Doors opened and lines moved quickly through security for bag checks, ticket scanning, and locating a seat. There were rows of folding chairs in front of the stage as well as 2 to 4 seat small pub tables placed along the walls. There is also an overhead balcony viewing area with tables and chairs. We did notice an odor in the building that was a bit offputting at first and then I suppose we eventually became nose-blind. It was a hint of a musty, urine, spilled beer, dive bar mix. We also exited the building around 10:30 PM following the show and were slammed with the familiar Butchertown pig slaughterhouse odor and almost ran to our cars to make our escape. Restroom was large, clean, and fully stocked. Large bar area near the back of the room. Easily able to see the stage from any vantage point in the large space. Audio was fine. Would love to return here for future events, including The Moth.

We mostly love coming here because it is 21 and up and we can be adults here. Other reasons: they have different flavored Margaritas of the week and every Tuesday was $5 Margs and they had a taco food truck here as well. Not sure if they still do that. We also love coming here for the pinball games (they switch out periodically) and the patio in the back we absolutely love. This place certainly faced its challenges during and after the pandemic. They have bounced back tremendously and with that came some changes. My biggest kicker, they haven't had updated Merch for sale for a very long time. Kinda noticed the change about maybe 2 years ago. For the past 2 years there have been no Derby stickers (something they started in 2020). They have done derby shirts for the past 2 years but, no stickers. I also collected their own stickers as well, there haven't been any new ones for a while. This is really my only kicker here. Idk what's changed or if it's not in their budget but, merch does bring in money. I also miss Potato the bar cat. I asked someone a long time ago what happened to Potato and a bartender told me the owners moved. I hope they can bring in new merch at some point and new stickers lol. They also used to post on Facebook what food trucks would be coming each night so, someone has dropped the ball on that. The staff here is very wonderful and my friend and I adore them. We are treated like we belong here and don't feel out of place. Even the patrons make us feel welcome. This is one of the few bars we go to where most everyone is laid back and is not too rowdy for us. Maybe late at night but, for the most part, we love it here. This is definitely a neighborhood bar worth visiting. Laid back, not rowdy and everyone is made to feel welcome.
