The bartenders have that amazing charm of a casual place. They can chat, they can be sassy when needed, but they are efficient always. I am obsessed with their fish and chips, but recently I got a steak and salad. The steak itself was fine, a little bit better than the average pub steak, but the sauce on top? So flavorful, garlicky, and easily soaked into the meat. This place and their sauces, I'm telling you! They are awesome at it. The salad was so fresh and smothered in yummy toppings. The blue cheese was nice and tart. Combined with my steak? Ugh, I was so happy. And of course, as always, I loved my bartender. Plus, the weather is nice and they have plenty of outdoor seating.

Seemed like the restaurant and the surrounding Old Louisville neighborhood were fairly quiet since U of L is on winter break. We were seated immediately and drink and food orders were taken table-side. There is a fairly large ground level dining area with a long bar, as well as an upstairs dining area and patio area out front. Seating was comfortable, noise level mild during our visit midafternoon, and service was great. Food was very good and we each ordered various items: French dip sandwich, hamburger, crab cake sandwich, and turkey burger. I enjoyed my as-is menu item of a dressed Terrell's turkey burger with a bit of spicy seasoning, pickles, Russian dressing, etc., and it was juicy and seasoned just right. It was accompanied by a standard side of fries, which were served with the skin on (a personal fave), and very tasty. This is my third visit this year and each time trying a different menu item. Every experience has been enjoyable and looking forward to future ones. Free street parking is available on the cross streets located next to the business.

What a great dive! I come here pretty frequently for shows and the atmosphere is always so great!…read more Most recently saw Pravus Warlord and the entire show was phenomenal! Free earplugs, strong drinks, and plenty of head banging. Genuinely the mosh pit here is always popping, and of course everyone remembers their mosh etiquette as people will help you up if you fall, and ask if you're okay if you seem hurt. I'm the friend that holds everyone's glasses and watches from the side though so if moshing isn't your thing, still come for the music and punk vibes. (I personally love watching people express themselves through moshing, I think it's such a beautiful raw expression of emotions!) The bar area has a few booths but is pretty small, but the back room where the shows are held is pretty spacious but fills up quickly. There's also a back patio! Ultimately, Mag bar is a great spot for a show, a drink, and some good ass music.

This means that pretty much every time I've gone here over the span of at least three years, I've had the same service experience. Just tonight, I was standing at the bar for 5min and it wasn't even a busy evening. There were two bartenders there and it took so long to be even be greeted. The bartender with green/ blue hair walked up and asked what can she get me. It's completely out of character for me to say something like this, but I said "I've been standing here for a long time without being greeted" and her response was "I'm sorry. Would you still like anything?" With a stale look on her face. I ended up changing my mind and walked out. Yall have got to do better. It wasn't even a busy evening.

We all got Toasty Burgers for dinner. They were so good! The smash burger, with the seasoned fries, and the homemade ranch were absolutely PERFECT!! We ordered the Double Cheeseburger with smashed patties, Pop's Pickles, lettuce, griddled onions, and American cheese. Toasty's sauce in the side. Holy Hamburger was it delicious and took me down to hamburger heaven. Juicy, melty cheese, awesome onions, crisp Pop's Pickles, and Incredible flavor. Voted best burger and there's a reason, because it's so freaking delicious. I enjoyed every bite. I did the sauce on the side because I didn't want to mask any of the beef flavor. The Toasty's sauce is good and ketchup and mustard also work. Just an amazing, delicious, incredible burger. We shared an order of fries with the magic dust. They were also really good, but I couldn't eat many because I was full from all that delicious burger. Very good fries. The service was good. I would definitely return if in the area. I have heard the neighborhood is sketchy and we went at night. I didn't feel unsafe and there were people walking around the streets. Always be aware of your surroundings if not from the area.

They've got outdoor seating as well and a few things on their food menu. Since it was still HH, my friend and I opted for the deals: I got to aperol spritz while my friend got a martini. Refreshing! There's a bartender named Yan who used to run this challenge where he'd make you a cocktail and only charge you if you liked it, he was really good at what he does. He's the one who introduced me to the Paper Plane, which is now one of my all-time favorite cocktails. I'm not sure if he's still there, but the other bartenders seem pretty good too. Just tell them what you're in the mood for and let them guide you. Here's what I got recently: The Dark Bar Princess: a must if you like something sweet and fruity. I'd say it's lime-forward with a strong pomegranate presence, and the gin completely disappears into it. Super refreshing and really easy to slam. Highly recommend this one. The Day Disco: a mezcal cocktail with a chili rim that brings real smokiness and heat. It's got a little sweetness to balance it out, but the mezcal is definitely there. I've never loved mezcal so this is just "pretty good". Monkey Drive shot: It smells and tastes artificial, like heavy fake banana, almost chemical. Not their strong suit. On the food side, I can definitely recommendthe Machada empanada for $6. Beefy, cheesy, and one of the best bar snacks they have supposedly. The bartender told me it's their biggest crowd-pleaser and I agree. Overall, would recommend this spot
