We are in town visiting my dad and decided to get tacos. The prices were reasonable and the food was made to order. The tacos were generously topped with meats and cilantro/onions. Regular tacos were 5 for $10. The Birria tacos were 3 for $8.50 I believe. The Birria tacos were pretty good. I liked that they weren't greasy. The salsa bar was loaded with yummy sauces. I love that everything was individually packaged and easy to grab and go. The employees were nice. One of them gave me a bag for my salsas. Me and my sisters share 3 different tacos. I've heard a lot of hype about pacos tacos, especially the rock tacos so I had to give it a try for myself. Walking in, there were a few tables and I saw a section for drinks and a sauce bar. The cashier is to the right when walking in. I placed my order fairly quickly and once I was done paying and picked a table to sit at, my order was already finished. That seemed oddly fast for me. We ordered 2 orders of rock tacos and 2 cokes. The food was underwhelming. It was room lukewarm and not hot at all. Didn't seem fresh to me. The sauce bar has a lot of variety, but I couldn't distinguish a lot of the sauces. There's a board that tells you the names and heat level, but on the sauces itself, there is no label of indication. The consome had steam coming out, but it was also barely warm. I was pretty disappointed having heard so many great reviews. I felt like the tacos were missing something. They weren't the most flavorful, but not bland either. I'm not sure what it was missing. One of the best sauces was I think an avocado sauce. It was a thicker light green color and was really good. I didn't really like any of the other sauces. Service was fast and the workers were really friendly. Our order came out to about $22. Not too bad. Maybe my visit was a fluke. Upon entering, you can smell the aroma of food and what I assume as cooked meat. I was promptly greeted by the staff and handed a menu. The menu is simple, not a lot of options, which is good because it forced you to order quickly. I ordered the birria, which is a burrito wrapped in a standard flour tortilla but then it's wrapped up in a layer of grilled cheese. It was essentially a grilled cheese burrito with the content of beef, rice, and beans inside. It also comes with a side of ramen, which is so interesting, since I've never heard or seen of ramen + Hispanic food coming together. The burrito is huge, so come hungry. Also I personally feel like the layer of grilled cheese is a lot and makes the meal heavier. I had to scrape off half of the cheese off, then I felt it was proportionally appropriate and I was able to get a good bite of rice, cheese, etc. It was extremely flavorful. I also ordered the quesadilla with brisket, or the 'penny' according the menu. They overly stuffed this quesadilla and I felt the brisket was on the drier side. I had to add sour cream from home to balance the dryness. There's also a salsa bar which is pretty cool and the sign shows the volume of heat for each salsa. I was pretty much a sissy because I thought the tomatillo was too spicy! Overall good experience with good food and friendly staff. My only critique besides the brisket being on the drier side was that majority of the staff did not wear masks. Our State hasn't issued that we can remove masks in public settings yet, and I appreciated that all the customers upon entering wore masks. read more

I've been meaning to make my way to Pacos for a while and I can't believe that I've been missing out this whole time. If you aren't looking for it or don't know it's there it's easy to miss, but well worth the u-turn. I went with the Rock Tacos, which is their version of a birria taco. They came in a set of three along with the consomé. I loved everything about this dish. The crispiness of the shell, the tenderness and flavor of roast, the creaminess of the cheese. Perfecto. I got mine with onion and cilantro, but they also have a salsa bar with a few hot sauce options, pico, and pickled veggies. Naturally, I add all that because why not, but the taco just by itself is a really tasty treat. Just those three tacos alone were plenty to fill me up, but because it was Taco Tuesday, you get one free traditional taco with your order. I got the carnitas and passed it along to my friend and she had no complaints. I also tried the frozen prickly pear margarita. I wasn't sure what to expect flavor wise as I've never had prickly pear, but it was delicious. Just boozy enough and not too sweet by my palate. Great quick-service Mexican spot. As a self proclaimed taco aficionado (San Diego native here!) I approve of the Rock Tacos--also known as birria tacos. Not too greasy, and the salsas offered at their self-serve bar are all made in-house and sooo good. Husband had beans which we aren't used to, so that was the only negative. I had no idea what to expect and was gratified to receive three tacos in homemade like shells (not like ones you find in the grocery store). The food is average compared to real Mexican tacos. The issue is the lack of meat in every taco, I had birria tacos , tacos al pastor with piña tacos , birria ramen , and rock tacos. The portion with every taco was pretty small. Not sure if this is the business model to charge $10.50 for three tacos and give .50 cents of meat in the tacos. The Burris ramen had a good portion for the price. The birria they make here is just needing more seasoning. I've been here twice in 6 months and I can say they still need some work. I love pacos tacos! I always get the costra (fried cheese) get if your keto or you just love cheese. I have gotten it with suadero and I have gotten it with chorizo. Both phenomenal. Heard raved reviews but a let down. The home girl who takes your order was sooo inattentive. We changed our order and she didn't even register it. Glad my wife caught it or else I would have gotten 5 steak tacos instead of two. Let me tell you about their soft tacos. It's sooooooooo soggy. Came in not knowing what to expect from the birria ramen bowl. Left out wanting the birria ramen bowl EVERYDAY! It's really that addicting. Imagine your grandmas beef stew but better and with ramen noodles. The birria was savory and tender and just downright delicious. I was so full from the ramen I barely touched the burrito. The burrito was wrapped in a cheesy tortilla that grilled until crispy . It is packed to the max with rice, beans and meat. Delicious! I loved my meal here! I got a birria burrito that I took home and it was still delicious when I reheated it later that day. It was HUGE too! I probably could have split it with someone. I've gotten better food from Taco Bell. The meat on my Rock taco was super salty and the tortillas were to tough to chew. The cheese in my quesadilla was burnt, picture attached, didn't eat it. Coming from San Diego to New Orleans i think I know some stuff about tacos. The employees at our hotel kept recommending this place so my fiancé and I went as soon as Ida cleared and places opened up. We tried it 2x to have a honest review lol Some things I would say is their trompo meat could be seasoned way more all u taste is the sweet from the pineapple. As well as upgrading both corn and flour tortillas for a more authentic taste. Their "guacamole " is just smashed avocado with no salt or lime. I love their arachera meat, the penny quesadilla w meat, the Rock taco with the consomé. I like that they have all toppings individually wrapped It keeps it sanitary and fresh. The Margaritas are delicious!!!
