It was nice to see all the jacket options, t-shirts, shorts, vests, socks, hats, shoes, etc. the staff were super nice and approachable and there are 2 changing rooms in the back right corner when you walk in. Prices are great (obviously outlet range), and they have lots of sizes. ----TL;DR---- Pros: plenty of parking, good prices, friendly staff, good selection Cons: none Bottom Line: if you need some Columbia sportswear brand gear, here's the place to shop

absolutely a terrible visit! manager was extremely rude and passive aggressive! didn't help us at…read moreall, had to dig out my size of boot which was no problem, then he followed me to a chair where I sat to try them on, I glanced to my left beva I felt someone was starring at me, and he was standing there stalking me, I finally got a pair and walked up to register to spend over $400 on boots my first pair there were Rocky's and a Ariat outfit and a bunch of stuff for my wife, he walks up and said nothing to me all night and yells... Hey are you going to out the boots back the way you found em?? I said yes I guess, I was caught if guard and in shock. I left the boots in the counter and walked off with one of his female employees almost in tears. We tried to reach out to Maxx the owner but they said he was sick today. Max out advise to you sir is to get someone that has better customer service skills and to correct your son for being a harassing and intimidating employe, because if it would of been a man that didn't care, that manager at the very least would of been slapped across the face!

I am a business owner myself and it would be a cold day in hell before I charge my customer to pay a fee to use the card even if it's only a 25 cent purchase. Here's why. Cards are charged by a percentage. So if it's $1 or $100 or $1000 the amount you pay as a business is the same percentage. So the fact you charge a (tax deductible) fee to try and get people to buy more or just add a "profit fee" for yourself is low down, dirty and downright unethical and I won't spend my money with you and I'll tell anyone who will listen what you're doing. You are literally charging people money to buy from you.

My husband packed for our trip to black mountain in a rush and forgot to put his shorts in his bag…read more I'm sure they are sitting on our bed back in Charlotte, meanwhile it's in the 80s in Black Mountain this week. On a recommendation from our super nice server at The Open Oven restaurant, we stopped in to Take a Hike to grad a pair from him. We we happy to see that they allow pets/dogs in the store so that one of us wasn't stuck in the car with the pups. The store has tons of great clothes, shoes, socks and other supplies you might want for hiking. Big names like Prana, North Face, Patagonia etc. He got a pair of shorts from the clearance section and I found a handy Kavu sling purse. Win-win

There is typically plenty of parking in the lot or nearby. Standard small town hours. The shop is clean and organized. They have a good sampling of outdoor gear. Lots of seasonal clothing, some camping gear and backpacks and some Knick knacks such as hydration tabs and stickers. There is a sale rack in back. Everything is very pricy as goes with outdoor gear shops especially small ones. I would still argue that it's pretty similar to the standard- not more expensive than REI or the like. I'd definitely recommend this place for a stop in. They have a nice curated selection. Plus it's always the season for a fun new outdoor toy to inspire you to get outside ;)
