Really nice day. Learned something new something i have never done. I catch my 1st fish ever and our two guides Pako and Shane were just great with us. Not only they had patient with us but they teach us enough to catch some trout .. After few trees and rock. Glad i could experience this trip.

Had a great day guided by Tyler Camp! He put me on some amazing fish. Caught my largest fish on a small river.

Highly recommend for guide service. Nick is to notch guide and had a great day chasing DH trout. Was my first fly fishing experience and couldn't been better. Nick knew the waters inside and out and very patient with me and didn't mind all my crazy questions and just a wealth of knowledge. Too bad that nice rainbow took me down the rapids and broke me off but hey that's fishing!! Will be back! Great day for my first fly experience.

My wife and I had a great time on the river with Max. He was very patient with us learning to fly fish. He was able to put us on plenty of trout. We were able to catch and release over 30 trout and most of them were browns. Thanks Max!

Used their guide service. Drayton had me on fish all day. He was incredibly knowledgeable. I did a full day wade trip.

I have been going to this place since the mid 1980's as a young boy and we've brought the kids here…read moreseveral times over the past few years. They have both a Gem mine and the trout fishing and in the old days had a mini golf course but that is long gone now. The main guy who operates it, Heath, is super nice and helpful. He got us setup and helped my kids learn to cast the poles and get the hook out once the fish were caught. They charge by the pound and the trout are pretty big so plan a big meal ahead. There's a little extra for cleaning the fish but that's worth it. If you are looking for a fun kid activity this is also a kid friendly place as long as they can hold the pole and reel with your help. The poles, bait, and buckets are supplied so you don't have to bring anything with you. They'll pack it in ice for you also when you leave so you'll be able to keep your fresh catch cold. ----TL;DR----- PROS: plenty of parking, friendly folks, usually it's pretty easy to catch a fish, family run, family oriented and kids will likely enjoy it CONS: none, it's lots of fun BOTTOM LINE: if you like fishing and want to spend a fun few hours, check them out. We've been many times and still love to go back!

We were ready to quit skiing forever…read more Our first attempt (at Sugar Mountain Resort) was chaotic, overcrowded, and discouraging. As beginners, we felt lost and unsupported, and by the end of that day we were convinced skiing simply wasn't for us. Then we tried Appalachian Ski Mountain -- and everything changed. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this place understands beginners. The booking process was smooth and available online. The staff were organized and welcoming. Although we had only booked one instructor online, they arranged two more so each of us could have a proper private lesson. Scott, Amelia, and Dean were phenomenal. They were calm, encouraging, and methodical. They explained the true basics - balance, stance, safe falling, snowplough (pizza) stopping, and controlled turns - step by step. They made sure we understood before moving on. In just one hour, we were skiing green runs with control and confidence. More importantly, we were smiling. Appalachian Ski Mountain didn't just teach us technique - they changed our entire perception of skiing. If you're a beginner, save yourself frustration and start here. It can make all the difference between giving up and falling in love with the sport.

It's a nice resort and everyone is helpful & friendly. Not challenging terrain but enough if you are just trying to get a nice 1/2 day of skiing. The cafeteria is nice with good food choices. A good place for snowboarding. Three parks to choose from. Reasonable lift prices.
