This is a rescue, rehabilitate and release centre - with their main goal to return the birds and any other creatures they rescue to the wild. There are some that they do not release due to the extent of their injuries. We booked the tour online the day before (this was October so I think we got lucky) and got to see the animals up close with a guide. You can visit the centre anytime during business hours but I highly recommend booking a tour if you can do you can get more behind the scenes time. The tours run Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays I believe. The tours are free but they suggest $5 min donation per person. The tour was about 1 hr 15 min but we spent another 1/2 hr in the centre, lots of great information and interactive displays for kids. The volunteers are knowledgeable and kind. A great stop; awesome people doing awesome things for wildlife.

In fact, I was told by both that they "would not even call" to check if the baggage could be added to the plane. My plane had not begun boarding and no luggage was loaded for 20 min after I cleared security. My family had to take my luggage and we were told it would have to be sent cargo. When it was brought back to the airport after my flight had departed, the airline staff for the airline I was leaving on told my family that we should have spoken to a representative to have it brought to my plane. Not sure what the issue is with communication between airlines and security staff, but I am now without my suitcase and out money. I know being late for check in is my problem, but the lack of help from staff was discouraging and disappointing.
