Shannon and Brian hosted me, and I had a wonderful accommodation; the Rooftop property. I traveled solo (45 year old woman traveler).
Notable and Enjoyable-Much Appreciated:
1) e-Bike rental (wonderful)!
2) Side-by-Side experience with hike (didn't know I was permitted to drive, glad I was).
3) Clean and spacious accommodations with rooftop fireplace
4) Shannon available by text to help troubleshoot and to help me make special requests.
Feedback:
1) Consider offering to help guests with luggage. Especially if standing near them when guest is attempting to unload. It's a courtesy and good customer service. At PointHouse, hosts helped unload luggage and also load. It made a huge difference in customer service.
2) In the future if power outages are planned (like it was for Sunday 9/14/25), consider giving a courtesy heads-up to inform the incoming guests.
In my case, I arrived at 2:30 p.m. on a day where there was a "planned" electricity outtage due to needed service and I received no heads up whatsoever.
That would have been beneficial before I came to the island so I could have brought food/dinner with me from the mainland, since that full day, the only restaurant on the island Texada Inn was closed that day by the time power would be restored at 7 p.m.
I also pre-ordered the charcuterie board at arrival. However, the power outage also prevented it from being served since it would have gone bad. Point is, I couldn't eat that either.
For those two reasons, no heads up and the inability to enjoy the pre-ordered charcuterie, I didn't have a traditional dinner or healthy food to eat. I was totally unprepared and had a few chips for dinner and didn't get to eat until the next day at about 12:30 a.m. (22 hours).
The pre-planned outtage also meant that I had no heat in the accommodation until after 7 p.m. (had to sit in my car for warmth), and couldn't shower until after 7 p.m. when power was planned to be restored. IMPORTANT: That's not the hosts fault. I just could have used a courtesy heads-up about it all. May have chosen to stay on the mainland longer to enjoy a meal, pack a meal, go to shops etc. read more
