If you think something is priced too high, wait a bit; they regularly run clearance sales. I've always received pleasant service from the very busy people running the outfit. And yes, they operate a cat shelter, which is separate from the main store. Animal rescue and assistance is the primary goal of the operation. For those with allergies, know where you can go or shouldn't go. A thrift store of any kind is likely not a good choice---I have five cats, so any items I donate will carry a degree of cat dander. For example, I am allergic to wheat, so I don't visit bakeries. Just saying. There is another animal assistance thrift store in town, and their prices are set twice as high. I spread my business between the two, but when it comes to ease of donating, Friends of Animals Thrift Shoppe of Eldon is tops. I'm heading out right now with a back seat full of second-hand items and a #20 bag of cat food for them. I'll probably explore the old jewelry while I'm there to see if there is anything to add to my collection for making Christmas trees. Last month I scored a whole bag of beads for a song.
