I have to disagree greatly with the previous reviewer - every encounter I have had with employees at Pack N Mail has been very courteous and helpful. I used their services 3 times in the past month for things regarding my visa application. I wanted to circumvent the not-so-great experiences I had at the USPS location, so I tried Pack N Mail first to send a first class priority mail letter with a tracking number to the embassy. Anyone who has ever applied for a visa/passport knows how finicky the requirements are - and Pack N Mail complied with every single one delineated. The woman who helped me listened intently, did exactly as I asked, and also made it so the receiver would have to sign for the package for no extra cost. All of this came down to about $5-6. I then went back to get my visa photos taken and also to create another priority mail stamped envelope. Again - quick, fast nice service, and very reasonable prices. My third time I went back was to pick up a notorized form my dad had sent there overnight. They charged $3 to have it received but it was guaranteed to arrive that morning on time. It arrived as promised. The woman made some copies of documents I needed as I waited. Overall, I would definitely recommend this business for any visa/passport needs and as a keep-you-sane alternative to USPS. I will be returning for all my mailing needs. I work in the area, and ended up leaving, and taking my big box all the way across town to Barracks FedEx where I got efficient, friendly service, AND was $18 cheaper. This place has been in business for many years and I have used them many times over the years. My experience has always been good. I had to laugh about the guy that called the wrong Pack N Mail, the Blue Ridge Packing that he spoke with and I'm sure he had nothing but good things to say about Pack N Mail. The reason I use Pack N Mail is because that guy was a bold face liar and cheat (sorry). I will always use Pack N Mail as they are very professional and give me comparison prices on my shipping. I'm sure all places make mistakes but these guys have been awesome. Will definitely use them and recommend them. read more

I went to Pack 'N' Mail in Pantops thinking it'd be a nice and convenient way to ship a fragile package (since I didn't have the materials). The final price seemed VERY expensive to me, given that I've shipped similar items before, but they have a final screen that compares the cost of FedEx, USPS, UPS, etc. What they didn't disclose to me was the greater than $20 hidden surcharge that they tack on to that comparison screen (I know because I looked at fedex prices today). What probably would have cost me $100 overall to ship cost me greater than $150. They also said I couldn't insure art, which is total bullshit. I'd like to also say that I accidentally called a different Pack 'N' Mail prior to calling them today to discuss and the manager at that particular store said that "it sounds like you went to the store in Pantops. I'd deal with any Pack 'N' Mails *except* for the one in Pantops." That goes to show you how shitty of a place it is. Will never go there again, and I'd strongly advise that you don't either. read more

I will start this review by saying I messed up and shipped something overseas without first confirming what was going to be reimbursed. Upon calling to check the status, the staff member I spoke too was extremely unforgiving and made me feel stupid. As if by questioning if there was anything I could do to intercept the package, I was personally insulting her. As I was already out several hundred dollars on the shipment, this just added insult and I will choose a different place to ship my packages next time. Also, it seems no matter how much you tape up a package, they always add more tape and charge you between $1 and $3 for it. read more

I was told my package would be picked up that day by USPS. It wasn't until the evening of the next day and my son never received his package because of it. They also charged double what it would have cost to mail my package direct from USPS! I want a refund. Don't tell people their package will be picked up that day and not stand behind it. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. My item arrived fine, however, I was misquoted off the bat. At first, they quoted me $80 or less to pick up my item from the local auction house and to ship it to me. Then, once they picked up my item from the auction house, it jumped up to $102. I was then able to talk them down to $94.99. They were shipping through UPS. After being quoted the $94.99, I checked prices through the other shippers and Fedex was $20 cheaper. I asked if she could just ship through Fedex since it was $20 cheaper and I could save $20. She gave me some song and dance about how she doesn't like Fedex ground and she prefers UPS and she wouldn't send it Fedex. So, I had to pay the $94.99 to get my item shipped to me. Guess how it came to me.... Fedex ground. Go figure. I don't mind paying for services but the dishonesty and constant back and forth, along with lies, is ridiculous. Go with Blue Ridge!!! After this fiasco, they quoted me, the same job, at $70!! They treated me horribly and it is a shame because I will be buying from the auction house weekly so they lost out on additional business because of their unprofessional ism. Tina read more

I have been here several times. Last week, two employees arguing in the front of the customer service area. One walking out on the job. Come today only to find the same two employees working side by side. The customer service aspects of this pack n mail are lacking big time. The employees are very unfriendly and just seem very unhappy including the owner. In the past she can be very unpleasant also. Today was pretty much the last straw. I will travel out of my way to avoid the Pantops Pack N Mail. read more

This is my go-to place for many things. The owner is very helpful and friendly. If I have to mail something, drop off a package, fax documents, get supplies or get keys copied, I always go here for friendly, quick and reliable service. My friend also recently went there for notary service and to rent a U haul truck and was impressed by how quick and easy the whole thing was. While the people are courteous, this place is a ROYAL RIPOFF!!! The markup is at least 100% of what you would pay at UPS or FedEx store. And how might I know this? I called and checked AFTER I paid $119 to ship a $60 you. Gas is cheaper...drive to UPS or FedEx stores. read more

I use this location very frequently and have always found the staff (with few exceptions) to be unfriendly and sometimes downright rude. I usually ignore it as it is close to where I live. Today, however, was beyond me!! I was told on a previous trip that if I needed additional tape on my package it would cost $1 but that I should just buy a roll. That was fine.... a bit excessive since I was paying their shipping surcharges but okay! Today I took 3 packages in that were a bit heavy so I opted to finish taping them there. I did take my own tape. As I was finishing up a couple came in with a package that was not sealed. She was told it would be $1.50 to seal it. I offered her my tape and the woman working gave me a dirty look. I said, I'm sorry, does that upset you? She said yes and more. I took the tape back and she proceeded to tell me I need never return to the store!! I said, what...you can't deny me business (not loudly and maybe with a smile cause I couldn't believe it)!! I said I would chose to come there if I wanted and she said she could call the police!! I was freaked out...REALLY? This is outrageous especially since I was trying to be nice to another customer and wasn't mean or negative at all and pulled the tape back as soon as I saw she was upset. I don't know if she can actually deny me service but I was appalled and more than a little upset by the whole thing. Hoping my packages make it to their destination!!! read more
