Horrible, unprofessional company. Curt the Operations Manager curses at his customers, replying to emails with "Jesus fuc**** Christ" among other things. I was wary about using this service after seeing the reviews but I took a chance and it paid off. Stephanie (I believe was her name) was extremely helpful, professional, and understanding. I had a laptop couriered from Charlottesville to DC, they texted me at pick up and drop off. The price was also very reasonable. I highly recommend Albemarle Courier to anyone. I had ordered new furniture and was so worried it was going to be a hassle from past experiences. I received a call from Curt wanting to set up an appointment, very professional, explained in detail the delivery process. The delivery went down without a hitch. The delivery drivers were very polite, very professional. They removed the furniture from the packaging and didn't leave even the smallest piece of trash behind. Completely the most unprofessional organization that I've worked for it. They would never give me a price list of how much money I would make for each job and then terminated me for asking how much money I would be making on each job. Stefany refused to answer my calls and resorted to text messages only. Stefany has no clue what's going on. An independent contractor (or anyone who works) has the right to know how much money they will make. I would strongly recommend finding employment elsewhere. She (Stefany) tried to say my time was too limited even though I was hired with the set schedule of 7:30am - 1:30pm Saturday and Sunday. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I own a freight forwarding company and have been in the industry for over 20 years. I have over six hundred cartage companies all over the United States and Canada that I do business with on a daily basis. In all of my years of doing business I have NEVER encountered another business owner who was this rude and unprofessional. Unfortunately I had already done quite a bit of business with Albemarle Courier before I realized that I was giving business and my hard earned money to someone who completely didn't deserve it, or appreciate it. When I first started doing business with them I always worked with Curt, or Kurt "I'm not sure which is correct". Every time I called he answered the phone. Every time I called for an update he provided me with one. Every time I called for a POD or charges he provided me with them. He was actually pretty professional and I never had a problem with him. The service wasn't exceptional but it was tolerable. I actually figured he owned the company since he was the only one I ever spoke with. Well all of that changed one day when he must have been very busy and his wife, "who by the way considers herself the owner of the company" and is in no way humble about making this completely clear, answered the phone. When I asked for an update regarding my shipment she was so rude and unprofessional that I couldn't even finish a sentence. She hung up on me several times when I called back to try to finish getting an update and eventually cursed at me. After this experience I couldn't believe that this company has any customers with the owner having an attitude of this nature. I am convinced now that the only way they keep their customers must be that she hardly ever speaks to them. After doing a little investigation about their company I have since read many reviews from people who have had very similar experiences. Long story short. Anyone who owns a business must realize that what makes them successful is the relationships they build with their customers. This is done by treating customers with respect, kindness and appreciation. This woman doesn't have a clue, but eventually she will learn her lesson when she ends up going out of business. If I could leave 0 stars, it would still be sugar coating it. Hands down the most unprofessional freight service I've ever dealt with. Had a proof of delivery for some freight that belonged to my company, was physically escorted out of the building and told "I'll beat the shit out of you, if you're still in the parking lot in 60 seconds" without any explanation as to why he wouldn't look at my POD...I believe the owners name was Kurt. I strongly advise anyone to reconsider using this company. I can only assume that they lost our freight, and didn't want to deal with the consequences...now I have to come back with a police escort and customs in order to resolve this issue. I unfortunately picked this company out from a quick Google search. I live out of state, and needed papers served to get my six year old daughter's name changed (absent father). As you can imagine, it's an emotional situation. I spoke with someone (I think Bill) by phone who was very kind and reassuring about the process, said it could be done that afternoon (it was 3 already) if needed. My court requires the original papers to be served, so I had to send them FedEx, but felt confident the job would be done quickly and well. I overnighted the papers and paid for quick return shipping ($75 total) to get the process completed quickly. The court requires a 20 day wait plus the following Monday before cases can be scheduled, and as a teacher, I was eager to get it done before school starts again (this was mid-June). Everyone I spoke to after the initial phone call seemed both rushed and annoyed, except the call where a lady took my credit card info. Days after they took my credit card, they finally got around to serving the papers. But, they also left the affidavit with the served person, the one I needed them to return to the court, the paper that was the whole point. The man I spoke with, manager or owner, said he was sorry, but he didn't sound sorry, he sounded pissed. It seemed like somehow he blamed me that my court doesn't do things the way the VA courts do and he was super annoyed about it. I had to call my local court and get permission to submit a VA affidavit instead, which they luckily did accept. When I called back to tell them I found a way to fix their error, they told me that they'd ship my papers the NEXT day, which pushed my potential court date with my daughter ahead yet ANOTHER week. So, to summarize, they said they'd help me and it was no problem. Then they were super slow, rude, unkind, made mistakes, blamed others, made no attempt to fix it or make amends, and pushed my court date to the very end of summer break. Now, because of their errors, I called the court and found out (because government) that my case can't be heard this week, and my case will be heard at 1 PM on my first day back at work. So I guess this single mother and teacher will be using some of her precious time off, not to enjoy her daughter or nurse a sickness, but to go to court. Thanks, Albemarle Courier. I'm on dialysis and I do m treatment at home. I get no say in who delivers to me. Unfortunately, I have to get this crappy company. They will set a date as to when they're coming and then they'll try to come the day before when you're not at home. Then they'll blame it on you that you weren't at home and it's not there problem.
