Can't comment on how they are when you have problems during your trip. But for case of no issues during trip, I had a nice vacation experience through them back in 2015. Bought a LivingSocial voucher deal and used it to book my vacation to New Zealand with a 1+ day stopover in Honolulu. Package came with hotel stays, flights, car rental, and pickup/dropoff between hotel and airport, so I only needed to plan what to do, where to go and when, and what to eat. I bought the package for that flexibility in a trip rather than one with tours all set up for you as I like to DIY. The hotels were decent and one was interesting being a motor inn. And the one in Honolulu was also interesting in that it offered DVDs for watching in your room, the DVD player is a PlayStation (or PlayStation 2, I forget), and you borrow the DVDs from their lobby. A car rental wasn't included for Honolulu, I separately booked that for my trip. read more

We booked a trip with Pacific Islands to Fiji and stayed at Kulu Bay Resort. We were 2 of 6 total guests at the resort with each of us staying in one of their 1,100 sq/ft beachfront buses (suites). This is a terrific place to travel to to unwind and unplug from civilization as this is an eco-friendly resort and is solar powered. There were no TVs, no internet, although I did hear that at low tide, if you walked out far enough and held your phone in the air, you just might get a little bit of internet from your phone. We did not try as it was nice to be disconnected from technology for our stay. Initially we were worried upon arrival that there would not be enough to do, but those fears were soon put to rest. There were several kayaks to use, as well as snorkel gear (we brought our own) and beautiful coral reefs to swim to in the immediate area. There were plenty of scheduled activities as well as extra activities (scuba diving, fire walking performances, village visits etc). There was a village not 20 minutes away that staffed the resort and they made sure to make us feel welcome and like family. Each meal was cooked daily and delicious. Elena with Pacific Islands was very responsive with any and all questions we had prior to the trip and I'm sure would have been responsive during our trip if there were any issues. She answered all of our questions promptly and professionally. Our trip went without a hitch from the flight there, to the airport transfer to the resort as well as our transfer from the resort back to the airport and flight back home. It was a very relaxing, enjoyable and educational trip that I would definitely recommend to others. We had no problems with Pacific Islands. They were courteous and prompt with replies and their prices are very competitive. We would definitely use them again in the future. read more

AVOID!!! This agency will set everything up, but abandon you and not help you out when problems come up! We booked a trip to New Zealand and Fiji through PacificIslands.com. Everything was going great in New Zealand until the night before we were to depart for Fiji when we received an email notification that our flight was delayed by five hours the next day. We contacted PacificIslands.com to see if there was anything they could do to help us extend our rental car for those five hours so that we wouldn't have to sit at the airport and waste our vacation. We never received a response to any of our emails! In Fiji, ~36 hours before our flight was to depart we received an email indicating the flight was delayed by about 12 hours. This would cause us to miss our connecting flight in Los Angeles and we were extremely stressed about the situation. We contacted them again, repeatedly, to see if they could arrange for us to be on a different flight or help us in any way to figure out our situation. Once again, we never received a response! Before we departed, PacificIslands.com provided us with contact information for a local travel agency in Fiji to assist us and we also contacted them but they failed to provide any assistance whatsoever. In fact, they even neglected to pick us up from the hotel to get to our flight as they were contracted to do. We had the hotel scramble to get a cab for us at 3:30am! Instead of spending our vacation in Fiji enjoying Fiji and relaxing, we spent countless hours working with guest services at the hotel to get in touch with the airline to rearrange plans, arrange for travel vouchers so that we would be able to have a place to stay overnight due to the delay, etc. The most humorous part is that upon finally returning home, we received an email from PacificIslands.com stating that they hope we enjoyed our trip and asking us for feedback. We wrote a message expressing our concern and frustrating with the lack of customer service and complete lack of response to our emails but once again, we NEVER received a response. TAKE HOME MESSAGE: AVOID THIS COMPANY! They will not provide you with communication, customer service or assistance once they have your money! read more

We booked a trip with them for mid April 2020. It was ofcourse cancelled due to COVID 19. We are still owed around 4,300.00. They are not answering the phone and will only respond after leaving multiple messages with an email stating it will be the end of August until we may see the rest of our refund. We purchased two Groupons for our honeymoon trip which was a 10 day Fiji-New Zealand trip last year. Working with Elena was painless, and surprisingly easy even though it was my first time using a Groupon getaway. We didn't care for Fiji much mainly because our hotel was a 30 minute cab ride to the beach, and the resort felt more like a hotel. To be fair it was only 2 nights we were there, but still would've been nice to have something better to look at, since Fiji is obviously a desirable destination. But the bulk of our trip was in New Zealand and we were quite happy with our experience throughout the south island. Instructions were given to us on where to go at each point, hotels were booked properly, and the suggestions on what to do inbetween days were great. It can be scary to travel internationally through an agency and not have any person to guide you, but if can follow instructions (which they lay out clearly) you'll be fine. Side note: don't drive too fast in New Zealand especially through the towns, and by fast I mean even 10 above speed limit, which drops down suddenly when hitting towns. They have speed cameras set up that will automatically cite a ticket once you hit a threshold. I would recommend their services and would look to use them again! read more

Booked a trip to Fiji, Bora Bora, Tahiti & NZ over a year ago, which was planned and cancelled August 2020. It is December 27, 2020 and we have still not received a refund of ANY sort and they are unresponsive. We have not been given answers or any information on reality of when and how much we will be refunded. We were initially told to expect full refund in 90 days, which was October. We are extremely disappointed and very unhappy with the events that have occurred. We understand the problems faced due to the pandemic but a simple response with factual information would be appreciated. We are unable to move forward with the purchase of a house & other major life things without our refund. Their disconcern and lack of response is extremely aggrivating. Just returned from our honeymoon to Bora Bora which we booked through Pacificislands.com. It was the trip of a lifetime! Can't stop talking about how surreal this trip was, thank you to our agent, Tess, for everything. Tess was very responsive to our questions. All transfers to and from were seamless! We were met by a representative in Tahiti who helped us find our way through the airport to our connection. We actually got on an earlier flight out to Bora Bora and hung out on the beach while waiting for our room to be ready. The resort that Tess helped us select was wonderful. The Intercontinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort staff greeted us at the dock when we arrived and toured us around and we gladly waited for our room to be ready. We enjoyed cocktails and beer after a long flight. Waiting on the beach under an umbrella and a cold beverage was better than waiting in the airport for our original flight! . We used PacificIslands.com to book our Honeymoon vacation to French Polynesia and had a terrible, terrible experience. 1. We originally booked with them four days in Tahiti and four days in Bora Bora with flight from US and flight between the islands included. The day before we left for our trip we found out that the company switched our itinerary on us. In the new itinerary we would have half a day layover in Tahiti, then four days in Bora Bora, then 3 days in Tahiti. We found out about this by accident, because we contacted the hotel in Bora Bora on an unrelated issue and they had us booked for different days than what we were promised. When we contacted PacificIslands.com, they admitted that there was a change in the itinerary, but kept insisting that the new arrangement wasn't any worse, even though we were losing one day in Tahiti and had an extra unnecessary transfer between hotels (spent extra day packing/moving/unpacking). 2. Once we booked they promised to provide us with documents detailing our trip. They never sent us anything. Once we arrived to Tahiti there was some confusion with our pickup, that we couldn't resolve because we didn't have any documentation of our trip. All the local workers were very surprised we didn't have any documentation - this is not standard procedure. We believe PacificIslands.com didn't send us anything intentionally, so we wouldn't find out about them changing our itinerary in advance (see problem #1). 3. On our transfer to Bora Bora we found out at the airport that our flight reservation was "cancelled". We don't know how PacificIslands.com screwed this up, but we ended up buying tickets ourselves (the direct flight we were supposed to have was sold out). We were lucky there was another flight on the day at all. In the end PacificIslands.com refunded us the money, but we still had an hour of panic at the airport. 4. There were also a bunch of smaller annoyances that added up to a lot of hassle - suites booked with two single beds (on a trip that was our honeymoon), no breakfast voucher as promised in the original itinerary, late checkout that was promised and never arranged. Having to spend time every day emailing back and forth to fix things instead of enjoying our vacation, and being dealt with in bad faith (e.g. being told that a promised event was sold out, when it was not) In the end we were offered an insulting $216 (less than 3% of the total package cost) to make it up to us, but we did not feel like this came even close to compensating us for the huge number of problems that could be traced to the company's incompetence or negligence. We would strongly warn anyone away from dealing with PacificIslands.com. It is absolutely not worth your time. But if you decide to deal with them anyway, do yourself a favor: 1. Insist on full detailed documentation of your full itinerary as soon as possible after booking. Insist on getting confirmation numbers for all hotels and flights. 2. Check directly with the hotels, and airlines. You can email the hotels to confirm all details. 3. Find out the name and contact information of the local travel agency that PacificIslands.com works with. In our case it was Tahiti Tours. Knowing the contact information of the local agency representative would have saved us a lot of trouble - this is someone you can talk to who is in the same time zone as you. read more

My husband and I worked with Mair to plan our honeymoon in French Polynesia, and we had a great experience. Mair was so responsive to my questions. She responded to my emails at all hours of the day everyday and was willing to setup phone calls after business hours to discuss our trip. Additionally, pacificislands.com had the best price for what we wanted. My only complaint is that the company doesn't seem to be all that established. When I started booking with them, there were really no reviews of the company yet. And, every step of the way, it seemed very unofficial. Like, we got an emailed itinerary that looked like it was made in excel or something. And, I don't think that we had any written contract when I paid for the trip, regarding cancellation and such (I could be wrong on this one). Also, the confirmation numbers that we got were the ones that their sister company in Tahiti gave them, so we could not use them to confirm the hotels on-line. So, the reason I don't give them five stars is because I worried the entire time that we were planning the trip that we wouldn't get what we paid for. BUT, I wish I knew all of the that time that I didn't need to worry. The trip went phenomenally! When we got off the plane in Tahiti, we were greeted by a representative from the company with our full itinerary and vouchers for everything included in our package. Every step of the way, we had someone kindly guiding us through to the next step of our itinerary. Mair upgraded our rooms and added a full board meal plan to your package for free. Our rooms were amazing, especially the overwater bungalow in Bora Bora, which I think was the best one in the resort! The meal plan made things so easy - while other couples were complaining about the expensive price of food, we enjoyed eating 2-course lunches and 3-course dinners and not thinking about the price at all. I kept expecting something small to go wrong (like happens with every vacation), but it went so smoothly. I can't think of anything at all that went wrong. So, I would definitely recommend working with Mair at pacificislands.com for a trip to French Polynesia. I will personally be looking her up in ten or twenty years for a milestone anniversary trip. read more

We booked our honeymoon with this company in Fiji and New Zealand. They by far planned the best trip and stayed within our budget. Matangi Private Resort if Fiji was a dream come true. We were in Fiji for a short 8 days. Wish we could stay longer because it was simply paradise. New Zealand (Auckland), was great. Christen planned for us to have a rental car which was a huge help because there is so much you can do within a 2-3 hour drive of Auckland. I strongly suggest you visit Hobbiton. Even if you are not a fan of the movies there is no way you would not enjoy this adventure. You get to visit the set and the guided tour is really fun and interactive. It is also a 2 hour tour and they give you plenty of time to take pictures. It's not a bore at all. Plus you get free beer at the end. At any rate Christen planned the best honeymoon for us that we will cherish for a lifetime. We plan to go to Fiji again soon and will certainly book it through Christen. read more

I booked a trip with this company and there were several minor minor mistakes thru the booking that kept having to be corrected. They finally got everything almost right so I booked even though the travel agent often contradicted herself. As it turned out I had to cancel the trip at the last minute due to illness and I called the travel agent to notify her and see what I had to do as far as how to make a claim for the travel insurance. Some of what she said was true but after 30 days I followed up with her as I had not received something that she said I would she changed her story. I told her I was sure of what she said because I took notes during our previous conversation. At this point she became adamant and hung up on me. My friend and I booked our Australia trip with Pacificislands.com. Although the whole trip did not go 100% smoothly, the events were not caused by Pacificislands.com. We've only had positive experiences with this travel service...and special recognition to our agent, Mair!! :) The initial planning occurred all via email with us giving Mair a budget and our desired itinerary. So nice to have an agent actually listen to what you want vs. trying to sell you something more so they can get a higher commission. Mair worked with our budget and was honest with us (i.e. told us based on our budget, we will not get a 4 star hotel and reminded us the hotel rating overseas vs in the US). She was also mindful of our safety when picking our hotels by making sure we were at a decent hotel that's close to public transportaion, so we will have a long walk if we are out late at night. We were definitely lucky that she was familiar with Australia!! Mair was very helpful from the beginning to the end....even after our trip she continued to assist us in getting refunds for some of the inconveniences we've experienced (airline issues and airport transfers). This company gave me the runaround for weeks only to finally admit that they do not actually offer the New Zealand explorer AirPass that they advertise. One of the clues, was when I called Air New Zealand and they couldn't find any information on this company or their pass. They advised to be very very careful.
