I started going to them last year in January when I had a painful tooth. They recommended I go to an endodontist who did a small 5-minute procedure. I don't know what she did and cost it $2000 because my insurance wouldn't pay for that recommendation. Well the money is gone and it's all out. I have no more ... I've been in there at least once a month for the last year. That's how many issues I've had. With all the x-rays they're taken and all the times they've looked into my mouth nothing should be missed. So far I've had two root canals or more I've lost count. Last week, one failed root canal, He couldn't finish it. I've also had 1 extraction and 10 fillings. According to them, I still need another root canal and an extraction. And mind you I don't have that many teeth left. I have a few teeth in the front on my top and bottom. I can't tell you how many times I've been in pain. I go for root canal and the next thing you know something else pops up. When I point out why didn't you see this before? Call me just gives me a blank look . I shouldn't be paying for this if you missed it "Why don't you see this when I'm in here, They showed me a picture of a tooth that they were doing the root canal on last year that you could see with the naked eye that it was starting to get decay. Why didn't they take care of it then? He has no answes and they just look at me like I'm stupid. I actually had to take a loan out to pay some surprise charge that my f****** insurance should have covered. I have two insurances. I want to know why my insurance was completely billed out last year... both insurances. What kind of charges are you sending out to my insurances. I want a complet accounting of what's going on and I'm going to call both of them to find out what the hell's going on. It's happening again this year. It's only February and they're not paying for all these issues that I have. I shouldn't be paying for a failed root canal. And he did a filling that was it and I get a bill for $277. I'm not paying it. I'll be calling my insurance . Something is wrong. I go in last Friday for a root canal. It's the most pain I've ever been in my life. By the way, the shots hurt, the whole process hurt. They're not even trying to be gentle in any way , it was horrible. I thought I was going to die Or have a heart attack. This isn't the first time I've been in pain. I've had other root canals. Hurt like hell!!! Then they have one of their assistants put in nine fillings. The first four she did. I thought I was going to die. That's how much it hurt. I told them I can't do nine at one time so they did four or five but that was too much . They had my mouth open so long. My jaw was collapsing. And they keep hiring assistants. I don't think I see the same person twice So there's a problem here. I want my money back for all the missed issues that they haven't seen that have caused me extreme pain. I don't want to be in extreme pain. I pay you as a professional to make sure all of that is seen and taken care of and it doesn't turn into one emergency after another. Plus I have gum disease. My gums are raw. They have no answers for that. Brush my teeth harder. You got to be kidding. That hurts. Why would you tell me to brush my gums till they bleed? I could go on and on. It's incredible, now I have a half finished root canal and he wants me to go to an endodontist, which is going to cost thousands. You didn't finish the root canal. You need to pay for this. There is no way I'm responsible for the dentist to not able to finish a root canal. That is absolutely unconscionable with all the x-rays you've did. I've had so many x-rays. I'm going to get cancer... How can you not see anything with all of those x-rays you've taken and all of these high-tech impressions of my mouth??? They don't care if you don't have any money. They just gloss over when when you're telling them stuff. However, they're billing my insurance too much and I want the money back and I want them to finish their work or pay for the endodontist that all of a sudden I need. With all the x-rays and impressions you take in my mouth, you should have known that canal was too thin or whatever the hell you said and You should have never started it in the first place. The tooth didn't even hurt me and now it does. Do you care??? You're paying for the endodontist if you can't finish it?. Not me. In addition, I'm going to have both my insurances account everything that you've done and what you're billing them for. I want a refund. read more

I would never go to this place to have Dental work done. They billed my insurance for charges that I didn't receive. They owe me over 500.00 dollars., I have to wait 30 days for a refund and if my card is not refunded I file a complaint. I have all ready filed a complaint with DOH, insurance commissioner. I have horrible dental anxiety (due to an experience of my face being numb for over a week after a nerve was hit, still have a lot of sensitivity on that side). The day of my procedure it was very out of control and when I called to see about moving my appointment (because they had called me to move my time up, hell I thought it was okay willing to pay the fee and all) I was told that they will send volume over but I'd need a driver. I don't have one so attitude IMMEDIATELY changes to rude as hell. I'm told they will not reschedule because I cancelled same day. Was told to go see my doctor about my bp(already have and not your area of expertise) but when I'm telling them it's high and I don't wanna have a stroke , they cared only about I cancelled same day. lol I'm still waiting on my refund because I had paid the full balance of $1444 the day I scheduled. Can't help that I have dental anxiety, I had laughing gas scheduled but clearly I just wasn't supposed to spend my money or time with them. Oh well. I have great insurance and a FSA card so off to another office that cares about the well being of their clients. THEN today When I called back Jordan said I can send over your records now, denied it because I hadn't secured another appointment as I'm waiting on my refund. But called back spoke with Julian that has the worst attitude (she was on speaker phone and everyone in the room said wow she's rude) that says "well it's 48-72 hours for records to be sent over" I don't even ask. But she made sure to say it's in the documents I signed. No copy was given to me tho so I guess I should remember their information. Anyways. Don't waste your time. read more

I have gotten standard cleanings here a couple of times, but I decided to move on and look for a different dental office. The front desk staff have always been friendly and the waiting area is very neat. The parking lot is very narrow and small even some of the staff agreed it's not ideal. As for the quality of care I would say it's average. One of the reasons I decided to look elsewhere is each visit I have felt pressured to do certain upgrades that you have to pay out of pocket for. After declining the staff kept bringing it up. I considered getting my wisdom teeth removed here and I was given a quote plus consulted about adding on a bone graft and how "important" this is. It's quite a hefty charge to get a bone graft along with your wisdom teeth removed so I went ahead and got quotes at 2 other places. Both places explained to me why a bone graft is extremely unnecessary. Although this dental office is very nice I feel like they definitely try to find ways to upgrade you with certain services and I didn't really like this especially after declining many times.. read more

Wish I read reviews about this place before following through after someone recommended this practice to me. I went to this place three times within a week one for an initial cleaning and exam. Second appt for a filling replacement & third for a follow up, because of issues. That whole time I saw the dentist maybe a total of 5 minutes and that's only because he drilled out my old filling. The actual DDS didn't even place my filling and only drilled out the old. Let's talk about the filling appointment. I was waiting ten minutes past my initial time, not horrible but still not on time. Then waited another ten minutes for the dentist to proceed to give me the local anesthetic I believe. All my life of getting fillings I have NEVER had a dentist inject the needle and medicine into me so fast and so rough. Over a week later and the injection site is still extremely sore and I still have pain opening my jaw and pain when touching the area of injection. I was never told my the real dentist was not the one doing the whole process of the filling. They only drilled out the old filling and then some other person came in to do the filing. Also they took extremely longer than I have ever had to do the actually filling and the assistant helping kept having the have the other person correct their hand positioning for the curing light. Back to the dentist after they drilled out my old filling they flushed it with I thought it was water so I wipe it away, but the rest of the filing my lip was burning where the liquid splashed to. I thought it was water except the burning began to become more worse and at the end when they finally finished I actually almost started to cry because the pain was becoming more severe. The person who did the filling told me they couldn't figure out why it might be a reaction or from my mouth being stretch open. I think it was from whatever liquid that spilled on my lip and chin. It got concerning that they went to get the dentist and yet again it was another person who I didn't know and not even the dentist that did the drilling. Said they think again it was just the stretching of the skin. I don't believe it because I had skin discoloration and my lip turned white where the burning was. A week later and my lip scabbed and skin peeled off where it was initially white. Back to when the dentist dr. Lee injected the anesthetic they said they were going to wait about five minutes for the medicine to kick in that was 4:23 the dentist did not come back in until 4:53. I was alone in that room waiting after about five minutes. I kept getting up to look into the hall way to see if they had forgotten about me. There were so many other wrong things and my mouth still hurts a week later, but I'm terrified to go back and waste my time to not even see the doctor who honestly didn't seem like he cared and was so rushed whenever he did come into the room. read more

This place is THE place to go if you have severe anxiety and trauma around dental procedures like I have had all my life due to childhood and adult hood filled with poorly done dentistry, condescending commentary on my 'dental health', painful and tortuous procedures and post op experiences, so for me to even make an appointment at a dentist is a big deal! This place was amazing starting with my call after a few days of 'talking myself up' to calling due to increasing pain and discomfort that required round clock pain medication and even that wasn't working. So I knew i needed help. They were so fast to get me in to be assessed, was given antibiotics to get started and had my root canal scheduled for just a few days from then! They offer several levels of sedation from oral sedation (which for me didn't even make me drowsy or anything but was a nice attempt at least!), Nitrous oxide, IV sedation (concious sedation) and even generalized sedation if necessary. They have great hours to work with your needs, including saturday hours, and time frames and they truly spend quality time with you and they don't 'rush' like i've been done before (didn't realize that rushed while is nice in some ways often left me with poor root canal treatments/crowns that didnt end up lasting). My root canal was blocked to last 3 hours and it ended up lasting 3 1/2 hours! No joke, that was shocking since others i had was about an hour from start to finish, but the dentist i had was so thorough, ensuring that all areas of decay were removed and did layer upon layer of building up the tooth which also ended up needing me to be numbed on 3 occasions throughout the procedure along with 'breaks' for the numbing to take effect and the dentists and staff to keep hydrated and rested from the intensive process. I don't know if i normally would of been able to handle it at all if it wasn't for the offering of headphones and a tv to watch the nature channel the entire duration of the procedure! Having something to help me distract and 'zone out' from the constant drilling was truly a life saver! And as if their amazing work wasn't enough to be thankful for, they were able to schedule me to come back for my crown placement in time before I go on vacation in just over a week! Thank you to all of my amazing staff of professionals who made this all happen and I will for sure be bringing all of my family to get cared for with you all in the future! I had left an initial review raving about this dental center. I stand by my experience with the dental staff, xray tech,hygienists and Dr.O. Unfortunately, my experience since then has been a complete contrast. I had quite a bit of dental work between Decembe and April. In April, my dentist was not in to complete the last step. Once it was completed, the dentist who was taking his place said we needed to go schedule the next steps and pay for them, ushering me to the billing office. I was told the procedures that they would be doing in May and had me pay in full. Once I got home I realized these were things my dentist had not discussed with me. I called the dental center and asked to either use my appointment in May to discuss these steps with MY dentist or to cancel the appointment and have him call me. I was told they would cancel the May appointment and put a message in to have the dentist rescheduled out to me. I asked for a refund and they said they would take care of that. A couple of weeks later there was no refund and no correspondence. I called again, asking about an appointment to talk to my dentist, to find out when the second part of my cleaning was going to happen (they had told me it would be scheduled and I would get a call,) and to ask the status of my refund. I was told the head of the business office had just stepped out. It took multiple calls to finally be told that they would have to issue a check based on the amount of the refund, and the owner would have to sign it but he was away. I had to call several more times before telling them I would just come in and speak in person as I was done being the only party communicating. I was told they would have the check the next day. The business office was incredibly rude and made me feel like I was an inconvenience. Since then I have not heard at all from the office. Funny, I was having excellent communication while I handed them several thousand dollars, but when I questioned treatment and payment they stopped. This speaks so poorly of a business. BUT there are to many miscommunications with the office staff that became numerous phone calls and money even though they did write some off to the office and a lot of frustration. We had to leave due to the amount of times dealing with issues that became not worth going here. I decided to come to Spanaway Family Dentistry, because they are located close to my home and had great reviews. I am glad that I chose them for my dental care. The staff is wonderful and they are focused on providing quality care and patient satisfaction. Between my cleanings, my daughter's cleanings and needing some dental work done, I have come here a lot over the past year. The clinic is clean, family friendly and they have great amenities (coffee bar, play area for kids in waiting room, TVs in each patient room etc.) I was experiencing dental pain a few weeks ago, which resulted in a root canal. My appointment was only set as a diagnostic visit. When Dr. Kim realized that I needed a root canal, he offered to stay after hours and do it on the spot. One of the other staff members also agreed to stay late and assist. I took them up on their offer and I was very grateful to have it fixed immediately. Today, I needed my permanent crown put on. Dr. Kim and his assistant were absolutely wonderful. I was a total pain. He probably re-seated the crown 25-30 times after making minor adjustments, to make sure it was just right. They never made me feel bad about asking over and over again if he could just make another tiny adjustment. The fit is beautiful and I am grateful for their kindness and patience. Bottom line - I wholeheartedly recommend Spanaway Family Dentistry. I trust them to take care of mine and my family's future dental needs. read more

Would not recommend. Toa was late getting back to me about verifying insurance eligibility, in the meantime my cavity got worse. I finally got an answer and she said it was good to go. Had to schedule two appointments, and between the two my tooth with a cavity cracked. And replaced 20+ year old crowns. Come to find out my insurance lapsed, and had to pay all out of pocket. Then tell tell me my 5 year old needed a root canal. They should have caught that on one of his other visits way before that got that bad. read more

Which makes it terrifying... wondering what you are going to get. This means I put it off longer than I should. Well I went in and sure enough after a couple X-rays and some tapping we found a couple culprits. However, I needed my wisdom teeth pulled. Did they schedule me an appointment you ask? No, they took them out right there. What!? Yep, they took them out! I was in a lot of pain, but we made it work. I am headed back in a few days to get my teeth cleaned and hopefully a bad tooth taken care of (the other one we found, yes I know... bad‍). Anyway, the support staff was wonderful, the hygienists were knowledgeable and cared about you. And the doc, well just amazing. The office looks new, and the location is super easy to find. My first time visiting was probably some time in 2015 when they first opened. On my first visit, every thing seemed great.. the office is super clean, nicely decorated. The girl at the front is super nice. I needed x-rays since I was a new patient. The girl who was taking my x-rays was freaking out because her child got sick at school, but they couldn't let her leave since they seemed to be short staffed? Not too sure, but this poor worried mother thought that if she quickly just jammed everything into my mouth that it will make her leave faster. I was kind of pissed about that. Dr Lee is not bad... personable. The second time I came in.. A crown had fallen off! They took me in right away and gave me a quote which was $2k more than I wanted to spend. Ended up telling them that I will have to talk about it with my spouse. In the next 2 months, they called me CONSTANTLY. They would also send "friendly" texts! It got to the point that I had blocked one of their numbers and they ended up using a different number to call/text me consistently. Super annoying! read more

Highly recommend. Pros: *Honesty! I drove from Renton because i know that Dr Lee is honest. Ive heard and have personally experienced that some dental practices recommend unnecessary procedures and overcharge- to make more money at the patients' expense. At this setting, i had an honest assessment with recommendations explained to me, and the front desk was ready with a printed estimate as i was leaving. No pressure, just education, which i prefer. *Kid friendly: they had a nice kitchen play set and video games. Dr Lee and the dental assistants were great with my 4 and 2 year olds- got the job quick and thoroughly. *Everything was clean and new *Great patient education *Unpretentious staff: im sure its all comes down to personal preference, but i loved the down to earth, friendly staff. *TV on the ceiling :) watching a show on HGTV helped make the cleaning go faster. I had an 11am cleaning appointment which ended up lasting till 130 when I finally stood up and went to the front desk I still hadn't had fluoride treatment and refused to get it then finally left. Office is nice and modern, staff is polite. I came to office in 2021 having pain from a back tooth that I had a previous root canal on, which they had performed. They took my x-rays, then told me I had a huge infection in that tooth. They told me I needed to get my tooth removed and made that sound like that was my only option. I had researched infections on teeth where a root canal had been previously preformed before my appointment and saw that there was a possibly not all "roots" were removed during the original root canal and those un-removed roots could cause an additional infection. My tooth had potential to get saved by having another root canal procedure and removing the additional roots that weren't removed the first time. I was bothered, because they did not present me with the option to save my tooth by going to a root canal specialist and having the newly discovered infected roots removed, my only option was to have my tooth removed, which was horrifying. I had to press and ask questions as to why that was my only option, and eventually my dentist said I could go to specialist, but if I didn't ask questions, I feel like that option would have never been offered. I'm highly offended they thought I was stupid enough to just have my tooth removed, when I knew there were options to save my tooth, and I had the funds to do so. I feel this office was good when they first opened, but after they expanded, the personal care/touch doesn't seem to be there, feels like they are all about profit and getting in/out as much patients as possible, trying to make as much money off of them as they can and not informing them of options that may save their teeth over getting them removed. read more

Amazing experience! The location is convenient, facilities are brand new and very nice (free coffee, TV in client rooms, game room for kids), and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Lee was extremely professional and performed all my procedures (root canal, filling, cap) pain-free and rapidly. I wish I had known about this clinic sooner! I went in for a check up earlier this week to try and see if I was qualified for getting braces. The staff were all very very friendly and walked me through the process in a very smooth way. I drove all the way from Seattle since there were no other highly rated clinics that were open on Saturday, so I decided to drive over an hour and a half over here. After getting a plan sorted out and completing the payment, scheduling a next appointment, I found out from my company that I would be able to take some time off during the weekday for a treatment. I called them up and right away they were able to accommodate my request to cancel and refund the charge. This Dentist literally ruined my life as far as my teeth are concerned. I wanted upper dentures, my bottom teeth were fine in the front. I was missing a few in the back. He talked me into getting ALL my teeth pulled and put in implants on the bottom. I woke up during the procedure and was crying I was in so much pain. I spent my retirement money 11,500 to be tortured. Now I cannot speak properly, I can eat hardly anything. I went in many times to have them adjusted and it did no good. Don't go to this place. I went to this dentist because the last one I was with screwed me over on my crown and charged me a ton of money to keep fixing it. My crown finally came off and I called Spanaway dental to get it fixed. They got me in right away and Dr. Lee greeted me with a handshake and cracked a few jokes... which made me feel very comfortable... he guaranteed his work and I continue to see him on a regular basis. His staff are very friendly and informed me of every thing that was going on, making sure I was comfortable. They even allowed my 4 year old grand daughter in the room with me and turned the channel to her favorite shows while I was getting my exam done. The billing dept goes above and beyond by checking with my insurance before ANY work gets done to make sure there are no surprises in the end. read more

This place is very nice and the dentist is very personable. They cost a little more than other dentists that I've been to but considering how clean the place is that's ok with me. My only negative is that they require you to put $50 down while making an appointment, after spending $400 on the current visit I don't necessarily have the $50 to think about the next visit. read more
