Such an adorable shop!!! I walk by this place at least once and week, but I finally went in recently when I had some time to burn. They have a huge range of PWN products to choose from; everything from food & wine, shirts, artwork, jewelry, to trinkets. I'm always on the lookout for really cute cards since I buy a few a year and this place is definitely on my list now! Great selection of Chukar cherries, they had most if not all of the flavours. Annually, we put together a Northwest Christmas "CARE" package for our Florida nephew and his family. Today was my first time participating in this adventure. We know they love snacking on all the PNW special foods and candies. There was so much to pick from! It was difficult making choices. Helping us was a lovely lady, Traci. She advised us about the box and packing it including with iced gel packs as this is going to sunny Tampa. The shop takes care of the packaging and shipping, Couldn't be easier! Love this souvenir shop. If you have someone from out of town and they have a yen for touristy things like stickers, refrigerator magnets, tshirts etc then they'd be up the creek because Tacoma doesn't have an airport, but they do have Pacific Northwest Shop. They have the jams, sauces, and scone mixes you'd expect at a tourist shop but tons of PNW merch like hats, kitchen goods and kids wear to let people know they've been in Twin Peaks country. Located on a corner walkable corner with restaurants, cafes, boutiques, a Metropolitan Market, and even the weekly farmers market if you're there on the right day. Update: I got to come in person, too!! I visited this amazing shop and bought all sorts of treasures! I love my new cards, chocolates, vinyl decals, Tacoma coasters, and lotion candle! Masks, hand sanitizer, and limited number of shoppers permitted. Store is well organized and super clean. Staffers are very helpful. Received the most beautiful chocolates and embossed leather wallet from this shop in Tacoma!!! The wrapping was perfectly done and both gifts are amazing. Super service. I absolutely love these gift shops. I feel like there always something new and interesting whenever you turn your head. I love this shop because it has local artist and art that depicts the area. I went to school here and it's nice to see Tacoma getting its love and fan club too. The workers here are very nice and attentive! I was buying a wooden postcard and she noticed the one that I was buying had a chip, so she went over and grabbed a new one for me! Pacific Northwest Shop is a gathering place for old school Tacoma mavens; most people who come in know Bill Evans, the owner, by name. Listen to the conversations and you'll learn a lot - what's happening with the Ruston development, the status of the Blue Mouse restoration, school board scuttlebutt, etc. Reviews for PNS are spot on. I got sent to Tacoma from East Texas to 'babysit' a ship for a couple of months in the middle of the whole 'Chinese Corona-virus' BS. I called this guy and explained I was here for a month and forgot to buy postcards in the airport flying in. I literally called him out of the blue- "Would you allow me to come into your shop and buy a few things? " He was REALLY nervous about opening his shop to some stranger calling in, but happily did so. He donned a N95 Mask, and allowed me to walk all around his shop for about 20 minutes, just him and me. He never tried to sell me on anything, but was always happy to answer any question I had. I came to buy a half dozen postcards, but his shop was so amazing, I spent three times that, only because the owner was so cool and his stock so thorough. I expected to spend about $8 or so on postcards, but walked out having spent $40, only because the shop/owner were so cool. If you're in the area, this guy literally has EVERYTHING! Magnets, stickers, postcards, jams, jellies, artwork, clothing, wall hangings, coasters, posters, books, care packages, books, cookies/candies/sweets, Literally any souvenir you'd want to buy,....it's all here. So Im in the process of uprooting my life in California and moving to Washington so when I come and visit our house up here this shop is one of my favorites in the Tacoma area. Today was my 3rd time there getting gifts to send my friends outta state. This place has a really nice vibe to it. I don't mind driving there even tho I live 30 min away. They have a variety of products that the pacific northwest is known for (Coffee, candy, clothing, candles, stickers, books , gemstones, jewelry And so much more). They will gift wrap your purchases and will even ship your gifts for what I thought was a reasonable fee. Pacific NW Shop is an incredible local shop with great finds from local vendors. The staff is extremely helpful. I called to ask a question, the woman (sad i didn't catch her name) who answered put me on a brief hold and came back with more information than I had asked for. I was impressed. When I was in the store everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. I was told a vendor took special requests and to ask upon check out to see if the vendor could get the fabric I was looking for. I totally forgot so called the store back with my request. Matt answered, took down my contact information asked if I had seen another product there that I might be interested in. He offered to send me photos of the product if they still had it. Which he did and confirmed they would have my special request in next week. Terrible customer service! I bought a white coaster made of clay and a mt rainier soap wrapped in printed paper. They didn't wrap the coaster with some plastic or paper so it got all the colors of the soap when I put them together in my shopping bag. When I went back to return it, they wouldn't take it back even though it was their fault. They wouldn't work with me and wouldn't even give me a store credit. They just lost a customer and I wouldn't recommend this store. read more

The first time I went into this shop I loved it, would have given 5 stars, it looked cool and had a nice selection. When I went recently to buy presents for family, I looked at the ingredients on some of the food items and a lot of them are really junky. And crazy expensive. The glass goods are cool and they have some neat local pottery. The last time I was there I asked about the signed Chuhily books and no one corrected me that they aren't personally signed, it's just a "signature" page that's part of the book printing. I think that's pretty shady since I specifically said 'are these the signed copies?' and they said yes, and I said 'are they all signed?' and they said 'I'm not sure.' So either they don't know what's in their store or they're not being honest. The staff is very nice here, though, so that makes up for some of the frustration. read more

Based solely on the variety of products available, I would give this shop 5 stars. There's lots and lots of treats, artwork, native art and books available to suit just about everyone on your gift list. Special note to soap addicts, this place has the biggest selection of locally-made soap I've ever seen! However, atmosphere counts for a LOT, and the experience was severely impacted by the owner. Throughout our shopping trip, my wife and I could hear her berating her employees for not doing their jobs to her exacting specifications. We heard at least 10 minutes of a lecture about leaving the store to help a customer, because according to her, his responsibility is to the store, not to the customer when they're outside the store. There was another employee there, so I'm not sure what the problem was. Speaking of the other employee, we were also treated to watching her get lectured on not wrapping the gifts because the owner doesn't seem to trust her with that task. Not only did we witness all of this, we had to stand awkwardly at the counter waiting to pay while it went on. Behind the counter. In plain view. It was extremely uncomfortable. I really wish I had loved this shop, and we try really hard to buy our loved ones locally-made products for birthdays and Christmas. We were so excited to shop here and now I can't see myself giving the owner any more money than I already have. read more

PNS is a great shop to find local/Washington made items. They carry a large assortment of Washington wines, food mixes, smoked salmon, art, jewelry, clothing, beauty products ect. We stop in occasionally for a bottle or two of wine from some of our favorite wineries we have been to. The wine prices are very reasonable, most under $10! Our kids love going there for the bulk candy and the 10 cent candy sticks! We usually take out of town guests in here to bring home some of their favorites. This is a fantastic shop in the Proctor District!! My husband and I not only come here for treats for our families, who mostly live in CA, but we also find some great things for ourselves! We support our Tacoma pride with the great 253 stickers, pick up some local treats such as the beer bread we made last night (which was delicious!), or pick up a bottle of our favorite hard cider. We also frequently come here for unique gifts for our families, to share with them a little piece of home. The friendly owners are happy to make suggestions or gift wrap items. She has a variety of ways to gift wrap depending on how it's getting there. The items vary from fun to useful to whimsical to charming to completely unique. What a cool store! We just happened upon it after walking around Puget Sound Park and the farmers market. Great selection of all kinds of PNW items from food to clothing to wooden postcards. I had a lovely conversation with the owner who pointed out some other goodies including glass ornaments and a cool Washington state calendar. Since we are new to the area we are going to come back here and pack boxes (provided by the store) for x-mas this year from everything in the store (smoked salmon, coffee and glass items!). Searching on line for gifts to send to Germany that would be very American and not made in Asia, etc., I came across the Pacific Northwest Store and hit a goldmine!! I purchased a number of items - tiles, coaster, pot holders, with the Native American designs and along with the explanations about the tribes they were a huge hit. So I added some of these items, including the travel mugs for family members and got the same reaction. For friends in the medical profession I bought the chocolates shaped like bandaids - another hit. The items are of very good quality and are fairly priced. As the only members of both of our families to live in the Pacific Northwest, we seem to shop here a lot for gifts. When family visits, there's always the obligatory visit to the PNW shop to buy goodies. The selection ranges from inexpensive, touristy kitsch to expensive locally-made art. There is a good selection of local foods (I'm looking at you, Almond Roca), and locally made wines. They don't really sell local beers, which is too bad, but there are a few ciders. We've bought family members t-shirts, hats, food, figurines, books, you name it. Not only do they have products from around the PNW, but they have a great selection of local Tacoma goodies.
