I call this shop, and the response was immediate despite the parking lot being packed when I got my car towed here. Don gave me his contact info and began to update me on a daily basis of the current progress towards finding out the what main issue was. I was eager to get my car back but there was more than one problem, as I had been driving with my check engine light on for a few thousand miles after driving past 100k miles. Huge mistake on my part. But nonetheless, within a few days, Don was finally able to find the solution and get everything fixed. It was a rather delayed timing for maintenance on my end, but the result was spectacular, as Don was able to offer me a competitive price point for the parts and labor fees that you can't really find anywhere else. I was absolutely mindblown. When you come here, do keep in mind that Don isn't the best English speaker and I'm not saying that that is a bad thing, but communication will have to be made in a very clear manner. Prodiving even with pictures of specific parts and brands did help tremendously, speaking from experience. I am most definitely coming back, as I am looking forward to getting new brakes, changing the transmission fluid, and much more done in the near future!

I would absolutely not recommend this place. Around 6 months ago, I came in here to get only my…read morebrakes replaced. The owner told me that my front tires needed to be replaced as they were worn down, which I agreed to. However, once I picked up my car, I barely drove a minute out, and the lugnuts start loosening, and my wheel is off my car. If I was on the freeway, this would've been a way worse situation, thank god I was only on the streets. His team did come out to fix it after I called, which I was appreciative of. However, fast forward to today, I go to a different auto repair shop for two new rear tires, for them to show me that the tires I got at Advance Auto Repair for the front two tires were already worn down...that shouldn't be happening. I also found out that the team here missed putting in a stud, and that they actually overtightened two lugnuts on my left driver tire..nice! Basically meaning if this shop I went to today were to remove it, the studs inside those two overtightened lugnuts would most likely snap. So in all, going to advance auto repair not only caused even more stress, but now I have to fix even more for what they caused.

Mr. Lim (his first name is Hour) was friendly and quick. The smog check only took 15 minutes (there's a Starbucks a block away, and we were only there for about 5 minutes). My wife was only charged $60 (Smog Inspection: $51.75; Smog Certificate: $8.25). The hours are solid: Mon-Sat 8 a.m.-6 p.m. A geek suddenly drove in (I rolled my eyes when he sat by me at Starbucks). I was worried that we would be stalled because of him, but Mr. Lim made my wife the priority. The car shop is messy (only the little shrine in the back looks neat). My wife and I also didn't like when Mr. Lim was on his phone (it was just awkward when it was time to pay). I have to mention Pacific Lee Auto (it's right across from Lim Express Tune & Brakes). Mike brought us to Mr. Lim after checking the car to see if it would pass a smog test. He also checked the oil for free. I have to thank Andrew from Union City Smog Check too. He was more than helpful and patient when my wife kept trying to get her car smogged there (we both feel bad that he didn't get our business). With a few exceptions, reviewers have had positive experiences when going here for repairs. Be careful while driving in. The area is very congested (at least 4 auto body shops are in the small area). My wife and I had a very good experience here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ld8s74AIVAk

As previously promised, I have continued to bring my cars and my family's cars to Ramon. I'll be…read morehonest--it has been a love-hate relationship for us. He does a great job with the cars, but sometimes the prices seem crazy. I will talk about two different situations. 1. I took my 2001 Toyota Camry to him about a year ago for an overheating issue. He diagnosed it as the radiator and quoted us over our budget. My husband decided to change the radiator himself, so we paid for the diagnosis--about $140--and took our car home. My husband successfully changed the radiator, but the problem was not fixed. We took it back to Ramon, and now he was saying it was the water pump or something else--I forget. I asked him if the $140 would go toward the service, and he said no because the $140 was for the radiator diagnosis. I was obviously upset, but we had no choice but to pay $200+ more to fix the problem. Long story short, that did not fix the problem either. Six months later, we needed to change something else. I told myself I would not go back to him, but my mother-in-law and mom have been to him and trust him. 2. I did, in fact, come back to him after getting a quote from Pep Boys for new struts (all 4) of $2,300+. Ramon quoted me over the phone for OEM replacement at $1,350+ tax. Obviously a better deal. Once we got there and he saw the car, he showed me how my brakes were paper thin, so we added that service too. He did an amazing job on my 2015 Honda Accord--it is driving better than ever! When I went to pick it up, he made sure to do a test drive. He felt something was still off and made sure I didn't drive off with any more issues. Had my car running amazing only 24 hours after dropping it off. After years of back and forth, this last time he proved to me that he does a great job. We will continue to trust Ramon with our vehicles.

It's also within walking distance of my house so I don't have to pay for an Uber/wait for a ride when I drop or pick my car back up. I've had an oil change done here, a front headlight replaced, and they fixed a recurring issue I was having w/my blind spot detection system and key fob -- the latter something my prior mechanic was not able to fix for some reason. The blind spot detection system error light did come back on after about a week, but I think it requires more than just resetting the code/calibrating. I will just live w/that for now. The only demerit I would give is for when your car is ready. Each time I've dropped off, I've been told the shop would call me when they had an update or when the work was fixed (expecting 2 calls), but I never got any calls each visit -- I had to physically call and usually had to leave a voicemail which was not always returned. They are pretty busy so I get it, but you would think they'd want to call you to get your car out of there to clear up the queue when it was done. The last time I went -- I had initially dropped my car off around 8:15am or so and didn't hear back around 3:45pm yet (was told to expect an update around 11-12p) -- so I was forced to walk there, not knowing if my car was ready or not, and after waiting awhile found out my car was ready. It still took another 20-25 minutes to get my bill, pay, and get the car brought up to me based on the size of the lot and the amount of cars that are in that lot (every mechanic seems to have tons of cars in their lot that are not driveable taking up a ton of real estate on premises). It started to rain too and the waiting area itself is quite small inside -- I ended up waiting outside under an awning for my car. They didn't seem to be in any rush to get my vehicle out -- not sure if it was just too busy that day or they are just not that assertive with check out procedures. It'd be nice if even if they didn't call you w/an update, that they'd at least call you when the car was ready and then got you ready to check out fairly quickly, especially if they'd had the car for around 6-7 hours for not incredibly comprehensive service. I will continue to go, but will expect to have to proactively show up towards the end of the day and hope I can get my vehicle out in a reasonable amount of time. Otherwise, they do very solid and affordable work.
