This is now one of the parks in the SCV areas where they have added climbing/hiking steps similar to that of Central Park, so it has become a bit more popular in that regard. I took my 4 and almost 2 year old on a saturday morning 9:30-11:30 and they had a blast. What is amazing is they also added shade sails over the existing 3 play structures and the exercise equipment area, which makes it so much more convenient, accessible and comfortable year round. They also added a softball field with a shaded/covered bench and viewing area, new bathrooms near the field, more covered picnic tables (available to reserve for parties and events), and a new basketball court near the playgrounds featuring 1 regulation height full court and 2 lower hoops for younger kids. They also added 2 big-kid swings in a shaded area near the big kid play structure which is awesome, as before there were just two toddler swings (which are now also significantly shaded btw). Sun exposure can still be tough depending on time of day, as when we were leaving the smallest 3 slides were heating up quite a bit for my little ones comfort, but the kids had a blast nonetheless. My only knock, is that with all these great improvements and renovations, I wish they would have improved and upgraded the existing bathrooms near the playgrounds too. Not that there is anything particularly wrong with them, but they could use some basically upgrades for the sink, dividers between urinals, and just overall modernization and environmental efficiency similar to the new bathrooms by the softball field and at some of the other renovated parks. Highly recommend this park. It is definitely one of my go-tos when I need to get the boys out of the house. It is a great place for kids to roam, explore, and play,

Park - #5/50 My goal…read morefor now til the end of the year is to review 50 parks. We frequent new parks and I hate when I can't find any updated photos for them so that's how I started my instagram @thatabcsquad to share. And now I'd like to contribute to Yelp as well. I've had my eyes on this park for a while now but whenever I would put it into Google Maps, it would say it's under construction so I didn't wanna haul three kids to a park that 'may' be closed (we live 40 mins away) But a friend passed by and saw it was open so we had to go check it out! We loved every second of it!! - huge fully shaded playground!! Three sections, bigger, middle and smaller. - BIG slides for those who love them! - lots of climbing and crawling areas - plenty of grassy space - baseball fields - shaded picnic tables - clean bathrooms - water fountains - parking lot close by to playground If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend this park!! We were told there's also a little nature trail too! We gotta check that out next time.

The parking lot is small, and you really can't see what's behind the headquarters building. All I could see were tennis courts. ‍ I'm SO glad I eventually got out of the car and explored because this place is MASSIVE! There are quite a few different directions you can go. The main area, where the playground is located, has a beautiful circular walking path surrounded by lush green grass and trees. Since I was there in the early evening, there were quite a few shady spots along the way. But if you continue walking toward the back...WOW! It opens up into what feels like a vast desert landscape, with several different paths to explore. One of them even has a pretty steep hill! This area also serves as the backdrop to some absolutely beautiful homes. And the best part? It was SO quiet, peaceful and serene. Just the rain, the trees and the sound of nature. I came looking for a place to walk and accidentally found a little hidden gem. Definitely adding Summit Park to my list of places to return to!

Overall, it's a great community space with one note...there are no restrooms located in the park and the closest facilities will be located across the street at the Whole Foods, so use your judgement wisely.

It is pretty well kept and most of the dog owners clean up after their pets. I have been at various times where it has been crowded and when no one else was at the park. There are plenty of benches located all around so the pet parents can sit and enjoy watching their little ones play and run around. It's a great place to catch the sunset. The park is clean, well-maintained, and they have poop shovels/bags ready when you need them. In addition, there is a playground for the children, a basketball area for the teens, restrooms, and plenty of parking. You will love it and so will your pup. Enjoy!

Reaching the waterfall is not for the faint of heart. You climb uphill, descend back down, reach a small waterfall, and then go through it to finally arrive at Whitney Waterfall. It's a bit sketchy, definitely thrilling, and absolutely worth it but only if you're prepared. Hiking shoes are a must. This trail is not recommended for kids or beginner hikers due to steep and slippery sections. It was 48 degrees and freezing cold today, so check the weather before you go and layer up. Also, there are no restrooms, so plan ahead. If you're looking for a raw, adventurous hike with a rewarding waterfall at the end, this one delivers.

WCP has a wide track trail through a canyon that was known for oil drilling and ranching some of its remnants are still visible. The staircase was the first feature I noticed the first time I passed by at night. I could see something in the distance that resembled the Mulholland aqueduct cascading down the Newhall Pass near my home. So on this beautiful Wednesday evening, we headed to Central Park to "investigate" the lights at the back of the park. How cool! We arrived just as the late afternoon sun was descending o're the horizon and the clouds were moving from white to pink, to grey, to pink, to peach, to orange. Gorgeous! Perfect timing to see the beginning of the "River of Lights" that caught my eye. A beautiful array of 214 programmable lights that seem to "flow" in ever changing colors from the flag pole at the top of the exercise staircase down, down, down the 172 steps and into a main plaza, lined with benches and trees, to encircle a lovely 2025 art installation entitled "When Cloud Met A Cloud" by Sujin Lim. The overall effect is rain falling, cascading down and evaporating into the clouds to cycle again. It's so pretty! Along the plaza are educational displays from the SCV water Agency, highlighting the importance water has in our lives. It does INDEED resemble what we in the SFV see on the "other side" of these hills, as the aqueduct flows into our valley. I may not attempt this staircase walk anytime soon, but we did enjoy walking the forged trail around the park and seeing all the people - and lots of free parking! - utilizing this space. Signs are posted to remind you to watch for rattlesnakes, so hike with care. Cheers! "CC"

When we run errands, or go to lunch, we now look for a nearby neighborhood or park to explore. Today brought us to Valencia. When I searched for "largest park", Heritage appeared. After running errands and before dinner, we went walking. After parking in the large, free lot, we went towards the restrooms to prep for our hour long constitutional. We set a timer for 30 minutes and off we set towards the San Fransiquito Creek Trail along the northwest edge of the park. We had no idea how well paved, well marked and how, well...LONG this trail is! We walked for 30 minutes north, past homes and communities, then turned back before we could even see anywhere NEAR the end of the trail at Copper Hill Dr. Along the way we passed many a happy walker, jogger, puppy dog, and cyclists enjoying the final golden minutes of the day and this lovely area preserved for our recreation. By the time we returned to the actual park, soccer practice and flag football began occupying the fields. Many more youths had taken to the playground and a few adults had settled into the tables at the picnic area. As we left, we agreed it was a great walk and a beautiful location we look forward to traversing again, next time following the trail in the opposite direction. Cheers! "CC"
