Dr. Hoang served as our dermatologist for several years. While we initially tolerated his conduct due to the adequacy of his care, his behavior ultimately became unacceptable. He spends a lot of time talking about non-dermatological topics and making jokes and we we personally witnessed him making rude comments about other patients and uttering racially and gender-insensitive, crude remarks. Although he may possess proficient dermatological knowledge and skills, these are overshadowed by his inappropriate conduct.The front office staff were courteous; however, it is advisable to exercise caution when seeking clarification with some off his staff as inquiries may be misconstrued as condescending or time-wasting and reported to him, potentially resulting in the termination of patient care if he is angered. read more

I had a very unprofessional experience with Dr. Hoang at Pacific Coast Dermatology. I had several appointments over the course of a couple months and at the final appointment he was rude, used profanity, and offered no real help in diagnosing my condition. Instead, he blamed me for the lack of answers. I left with no clarity, wasted time, and unnecessary costs. I would not recommend him for dermatology care. read more

I left crying. T. Anthony Hoang-Xuan, DO, FAAD. I came in to get stitches removed and another cyst removed. And all I wanted was the stitches removed cause let's be honest getting something removed from your scalp hurts . Dr likes to add in comments on how people are stupid that they wouldn't be anxious if that would just give it up to the lord. He was telling me that he has vacation in July with family. Just making me fill bad for wanting to reschedule the next cyst removable. He was turning around saying let me let my staff know they don't need to worry about setting things up. And as he was turning around I said "hey wait a 2nd" cause of his tone he made it seem like I was inconveniencing his staff of have to change plans. Dr then turns back and starts loadly saying so everyone could hear " you don't call me 'hey' I'm the dr. I don't call you hey" was like hey man I was just trying to get your attention like "hey you". This dr has some weird I'm right and your wrong mentality. Maybe it's because I have IEHP as it why I treated less then. He is 5"2. I don't know if heights have anything to do with how I was just treated or how he talks about people. His staff is nice enough. This Dr's EGO!!! Which I was taught stands for etching god out. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME THERE. Instead of calling him a doctor I would rather call him a clown. He just kept on talking without listening to the patient. He would even cut you off while you trying to explain to him the reason for visit. Extremely rude. After visiting him for a while, symptom got worse. When visiting him for the same symptom couple times later, he just went off like changed a person and told me to go somewhere else. Very unprofessional. A rude quack is what he is. Huang is very narcissistic and has a giant ego. This is due to the fact that he wants to make himself look good because he is insecure. He is only 5 feet tall in height, which is very short. That is the reason why he feels the need to project and express himself like a lion to make himself look powerful as well as strong. He is also a money grabber. He grabs your money and leaves. It is best not to go and talk to him because he talks in circles and is only there for the money. Huang only talks about himself and refuses to listen to you. Bad at communicating and talking, as well as listening, which makes Huang unprofessional, rude, condescending , disrespectful, evil, classless, dismissive, and a extremely malicious person. He is not caring at all. Huang does not even have the right equipment for skin removal type of dermatology procedure. The worst dermatologist ever! Self-centered. Waste of money and time! Unprofessional. First time client, had to wait over an hour to be seen regardless of having an appt. Dr was a little too personable. Prescribed meds for my acne which ended up having a bad reaction to. Dr did not bother explaining side effects of meds. Since he did not explain, I continued to take the meds & 3 days in, was having excruciating pressure in my head. Called the pharmacy, told me to stop the meds immediately as it could lead to something potentially dangerous. They advised me to call the Dr the next day. Missed work due to the reaction. Called the Drs office literally 6x that day to see if the Dr needed me to go to the ER, but the two women working there were not on top of things. I had to also ask the women numerous times for a Drs note for work & they asked me to pick it up after they advised me not to drive with the pain I was having! read more

Doctor here is a fast talker with regard to money. You go in there with an appointment for what you need done and he will say I can take your money no problem but it's better to wait (we are talking about a simple mole Removal or raised skin in a few areas). they charge a $120 for 15 removed) He would prefer to do it in the wintertime but then why give the Appointment in the first place. So he gets to charge you $120 go there for nothing. I've been there twice now same thing and if you tell him you came to get it done and please do it he will not give you what the service comes with and only do it partially. Horrible... I decided to go to this dermatology office since my face broke out pretty bad recently and it wasn't getting better after a month. Dr. Hoang talks pretty fast with an accent so it's tough to hear what he's saying. Finally got him to agree to go with the Accutane routine which should take around 6 months or so. Also, a blood work + office visit has to be done every time before he can prescribe the medicine. The dermatologist office electronically sends the prescriptions to a pharmacy of my choice. I was expecting a generic drug of Accutane which should be Isotretinoin but instead received Prednisone which was an inflammatory steroid. At that time, I was thinking..well maybe this is what Dr. Hoang actually wanted to prescribe to deal with the acne. After 30 days, no results.. contacted the office about this questionable drug and they said I was supposed to receive Isotretinoin + Prednisone. Are you kidding me... I was completely shocked, WTF. Pretty much wasted 1 month of my time and money on a placebo. The office said that the pharmacy did not prescribe me Isotretinoin because they didn't have my iPledge #? If that was the case, all the pharmacy had to do was "ask" me for the information when I went to pick up. So who really screwed up? The pharmacy for not contacting me or the dermatologist for not prescribing the correct drugs? In the end, I requested to receive a new prescription since someone screwed up big time but Dr. Hoang wanted to do another blood work + office visit (copay) before he can prescribe again. Wow, milking more money out of my pocket aren't you? Definitely not happy with how Dr. Hoang handled the situation. The receptionists (Jessica and Kayla?) were excellent during this whole time by providing me information and explaining to me what's going on throughout this whole ordeal. read more

I've been going here for 8+ years now at least. Dr Hoang found andseveral spots of early stage melanoma (I have a family history, with people passing early). The first was found when I was 23 and the second before 30. His attention and care is beyond measure. This doctor is an act show. A bit too over stimulated, and boy is he into himself talking about what a great, plain 'ol humble guy he is. For a professional, his choice of (slung/curse) words are out of line. Waited over one hour a couple of times until finally the last time I was there, I walked out to reception to confirm my appointment time. Him telling my high school junior what colleges to apply to is not his business because what worked for him played out well. Good for you doc!! Let's move onto the treatment: he treated my teen with several Rx's which did not work. His next bullet proof attempt was accutane. Given the known side affects, both of us declined this medication immediately. This mans tone changed and he could not get us out of his office fast enough. Many doctors get paid big bucks from pharmaceutical companies to push their (real bad) drugs. Not saying this was the case. We tried 4 other Dermatologists in the Chino & Glendora area. They all had problems with dealing with a young child and the treatments never seemed to work. We found Dr. Hoang and he truly was a blessing. He worked extremely well with our son and our son with him. I will never go back. Dr had absolutely no bedside manor. Talked forever, told me I will probably get melanoma in my 70's, life span of a woman is 80's. I am 57. Who talks about death for a routine skin check? He went on & on how I have been in the sun too long! After many surgeries removing skin cancers I returned to remove more that developed. Originally went to him to address a scalp condition he prescribed 2 topical meds which I used for months with no relief while condition worsened. At my last visit he removed 3 more skin cancers. While talking to him after surgery I mentioned to him that my blood cancer doctor had taken me off chemo. He immediately asked me for the name of the chemo drug I tried to bring it up on my phone but was unable in his office after surgery. Finally got the chemo drug name for him and he blamed me for not telling him about it and went on a tieraid while I'm laying there after surgery. I had told him about chemo because he said at that time it could cause me to develop more skin cancers, he forgot that. I asked him if we were done walked into front paid my bill and walked out the door never to return for what reason is still unclear to me. This guy only cares for money not people and can be very obnoxious and put me through this while laying there after surgery. read more

I had some skin concerns so went to get it checked out by the doctor. The staff was impressively efficient and friendly. They got me in quickly and took care of me right away. Dr. H is very personable, he just seem to like to talk a lot. I guess that is a good thing since these days, most doctors are just in and out with minimal patient interaction. The doctor explained to me all the things going on with my skin and gave me treatments and suggestions for remedy. It is working so far, so definitely five stars for this office. read more

This place is a joke. First, let me see say that I used to use Anthem but for the last 5 years I got Kaiser instead. Just this year I switched back to Anthem PPO again. Long story short, I had an allergy/hive breakout last month and went in for a checkup. Doctor complained and used a lot of unprofessional language and basically told me it is really hard to find the cause. I mean I understand it but I felt like I was listening to him venting about his problem as if I am inconveniencing him. He told me even if we order bunch of blood work, we may still find nothing. I told him luckily my insurance covers lab work so please go ahead and order them. The breakout by that time had lasted a few weeks so I really would like to investigate further. He commented and I'm paraphrasing here that a lot of his patients' husbands have fancy jobs that offer good insurance. (I raised my eyebrow but didn't say anything....that's kinda sexist...I got my insurance through my employer not my husband's just FYI) Regardless, he ordered a blood work for me that same day. However, he didn't follow up with me and the rashes were going away slowly day by day. A month has gone by but I still wanted to know if there was something I was allergic to that I should know about. I called yesterday to follow up my result and the receptionist told me the doctor didn't get a chance to review my blood work since he has been on vacation. Let me remind you that I took the blood work A MONTH AGO so I was shocked that the doctor didn't even bother to review my blood work all this time. Today the receptionist called back and said the doctor reviewed it but still need me to come in to discuss my results. I asked if we can go over the results over the phone first so I can save a trip and got rejected. This will never happen at Kaiser. Kaiser let you see your lab work online as soon as the results are available. I just want to talk about MY results over the phone before making a trip to the doctor's office if more details/discussions are needed. I think he just wants to collect copay. What an unprofessional doctor. I have no idea how he got so many good reviews. Overall it was just not a good experience. read more

My general referred my daughter and I to Dr Hoang. We were in his office about 45 minutes when we decided to leave. He did return our money, which I of course appreciated. We wasted 45 minutes as we listened to him say he felt my daughter probably had Lupus. She has food allergies and he wants to call it lupus!! Arrived at the appointment and they told me that they don't take my insurance. They expected me to pay out of pocket, cash, for my appointment. I love Dr Hoang & all his staff!! I found him on yelp after breaking out with really bad acne for the first time at 28 years old. I had painful cystic pimples & it was horrible especially since I never had acne when I was younger. He prescribed me 2 different medications & after a few weeks my skin hasn't ever been better! The girls in the front are so nice & I was impressed they remembered so much about me at my second appointment. He takes time & explains what is actually going on with your skin. This review is long overdue. I've been a patient of Dr. Hoang-Xuan for about a year now. He is by far the best dermatologist I've seen. His bedside manner is the best! Always has a smile on his face, and genuinely seems happy to see his patients. The staff is wonderful. Always polite and courteous; willing to go above and beyond for their patients. My insurance was changing as of January 1st, Kayla made sure my pharmacy received my prescription on time. I was able to pick up my medication same day. My wife found our family a new dermatologist much closer to where we have been living for the past four years; our other dermatologist was just too far away with traffic. Two days ago I had an appointment with Anthony Hoang-Xuan and my first impression is that he is a very nice person. Not only did he address my concerns it felt like he cared about my families wellbeing and not just trying to push you out the door like most places do. I received my yearly check-up which I must have missed for the past 3 years and had a few other things taken care of while there. Pacific Coast Dermatology's staff is also very friendly.
